It was a breeze to sign up with them, and they helped me select the best size unit for what we needed, and helped get the best deal. It seems like they usually have some kind of special, but depending on the size you need and how long you will need it make some of them better suited to you. I was glad she took the time to walk me through the differences. One of the best things about them is that all the units are indoor and climate controlled! We all know how critical that can be in Michigan. I didn't have to worry about water damage, heat or humidity damage, mold, freezing, or standing out in the rain/snow to load and unload. There is a keypad entrance and you drive right in. The doors are large enough to accommodate moving trucks, though I didn't have to attempt that. Our unit was fairly close to where we could park, though we couldn't get a "drive-up" unit in the size we needed. Thankfully, they provide rolling carts so moving large boxes from a car to the unit went smoothly. The facility is very nice and clean as well. This might be in part because it is fairly new, but the floors are all polished, the doors to each unit are clean, and the units themselves are all clean. Even the gates above the unit seem to be really clean. It's just another bonus to having indoor versus outdoor storage. The only negatives were mostly to do with other customers. Most of the time we were the only ones there when loading or unloading. Occasionally other people were also there though. For example: all 3 of the carts were taken by one group; someone parked their car too close to the keypad to leave the facility so we could only access it by getting out of the car to enter our code; someone unloaded all of their stuff and almost completely blocked any path to exit the facility. The only negative we experienced at all was that we didn't receive a confirmation email after we cleared our unit and it was inspected. That's such a minor thing it doesn't even matter. We just stopped by the office to double check that it was done and we were all set. We could have even called instead, but were heading next door to Lowe's anyway. We had a very positive experience with Devon Self Storage. I would absolutely recommend them, and would use them again if I had any storage needs.

I have had a storage unit at the Hudsonville location for a couple years. I recently signed up for…read morea parking spot in Byron Center and have had some safety and security concerns. The previous manager (no longer there) was great to deal with and handled my concerns. The new staff since last fall however is very hard to deal with and can't answer my questions and get a basic lease set up and match the quote /price promised(first month half off). Overcharged and they can't fix it. Management has no real authority to make things right. They sure can auto bill and overcharge, but refuse to make it right. Disgusted with the staff. The storage unit itself is nice and secure and average price range. Another side note - we are expected to keep our unit clean and move out clean. Well... we moved units on a last minute necessity over a weekend. The new unit was found dirty and piles of dirt all over. I mentioned it to the manager the next Monday and once again, they did nothing about it. Quite disappointed the standards are not consistent and you can't communicate or get things corrected with office staff. There was a computer system change over the winter. I was overcharged and accidentally billed on a daily basis for a week and they would not refund... just kept updating a new balance incorrectly for the next month. Finally got that fixed after a couple weeks.

While we are…read moretalking to one of the salesmen and standing right in front of it the owner/manager sells it to someone else that had just walked in. Never asked us anything. That was wrong and very rude. Then offered to sell us another model for $130 more than we had to spend. Very disappointed and needless to say would not recommend these poor business practices to anyone else. Sad that your "manager" is so cutthroat that he sells product right from under other sales people. What happened today was wrong and rude to more than one person. You have lost at least one customer and possibly more. This is one recommendation/ review that will not be favorable.

So far not a great experience. Went online and scheduled a time today for a 4pm pickup this Sat…read more and didn't receive a confirmation that a driver was assigned so I kept checking back online, still nothing, so I called the office at 3, no one answered, left a message, and no one called back. Then 4pm rolled around, nothing. Called again, got someone this time who said no drivers were available, which is totally fine, definitely short notice, but communication is key. Asked to set up another time for Monday, since the business I was looking to have my couch picked up from was closed on Sundays, but I got a confirmation email saying my driver was assigned....for Sunday. Tried calling back again to get it changed, again no answer, and just received a text from them saying it got moved to the 30th. I definitely would have preferred a call - poor communication is thamy biggest thing so far. I'll update this if rectified by awesome service on Monday! Update: wow. Had to move down to one star. Had a guy scheduled to pick up my couch at 3 pm, it's an hour later and I called the business it was to be picked up at and no one has showed yet. No answer from hired hitch, and no call back.
