stay the heck away from this place. i buy storage lockers at auction. i purchased one at this facility. the first lady that helped me was super nice although she didn't give me a receipt for my cash deposit (first time that's ever happened in 20+ units I've bought) and i couldn't get a gate code. I came back on day to 2 clear the remaining items and guess what.... was given a code. Go to the upstairs interior unit and the elevator is broken. I asked for an extension to get the items out until the elevator was repaired. nope. you get some extra carts and you can walk 50 yards to the next elevator. yeah. that's a no for me dog. so i left a dresser and couple kids toys in the unit and think that's it. Basically they called my cell phone probably 25 times and my office number another 25 plus times in what can only be described as harassment. THEN they contact the storage auction company and get my account suspended. Just an absolute abomination. By far the worst experience with any facility yet. I can only imagine how they treat regular customers. read more

DO NOT GET STORAGE HERE! As nice as the employees are, the Claims department is horrible especially when someone is breaking into their storages and taking your stuff. No proper security on their part. I wish I had read the reviews before agreeing to get storage. The staff is super friendly and helpful, but this company is not going to protect your items! They have a list of things that would normally go into storage especially if you are in-between places. I work as a Travel Nurse so I need somewhere I can depend on when placing my items. Someone cut off the locks and broke into several storages inside, with no cameras or air on the inside of this building. Mind you, it was their own lock I purchased. You need a code to get into it and they have people on camera. I've been there only since April as a referral from family. I will be moving my items. Their Claims dept is unprofessional because even while trying to speak with her, to originally file my claim, she barely seemed to care. I got an email, responded on Sat with my list and pics, I was denied on Tues Morning. It was a Holiday weekend. No call to talk to me or anything. But she highlighted that no jewelry, watches and some other items that would go in storage. Someone also tried to apply for a Credit Card in my name a day later after breaking into my storage and nothing to protect that either. The end result is they don't care. If your items are important to you, this is not a place to have them kept! Go somewhere they don't purposely place items on a list to not pay for their mistakes. You knew this had happened before and did nothing to make it better according to a few reviews. Then they also tell you, you can't sue them. I am from the IE and will be sharing this with everyone I can so they don't make the same mistake I did. Plus, they had 8 storages broken into 3 yrs ago too and nothing changed on their part to protect our property. It's too many other options around to settle for this company. Extra Space Storage 850 S Mt Vernon Ave, Colton, CA, 92324. This is a DISHONEST COMPANY. On July 26th, I called to pay my storage unit and I was told that my unit was sold through an auction on July 25th when it was supposed to be on the 27th. They lied, Never even called, Gave warnings or send out letters. They have destroyed my family's life in that storage unit. Everything from pictures to personal private Information... I'm just speechless and disappointed. Even my unit was broken into last year and didn't even get the right compensation for it! read more

So far so good!! I just recently returned to renting a storage unit from Extra Space after years of not having to. So far everything is going well for me at Mt . Vernon Ave. Colton, Ca location. They gave me a good internet rate of $47 for a 4X7, this is reasonable compared to most other facilities. However, I'm just hoping they don't raise the rate to ridiculous amounts as time goes on(this is what happened to me last time). Right now, I recommend this place if they leave my reasonable rate alone. read more

He's an awesome sales person and his customer service skills are phenomenal. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because I thought the pricing for the units were a bit higher than their competitors and there were no military or AAA discounts. Location: The location is not in a convenient area and the area is dingy, which is perhaps why the rates are lower than for surrounding "better" areas. Rates: Unless you read the link to the link, you may not notice that they'll charge you for insurance unless you can demonstrate your items are covered. They'll be covered under your homeowner's or renter's insurance, so bring in a copy of your insurance policy to avoid the extra charge. Ingress / Egress: On the way in and out, you need to enter a code into a keypad for the gate to open. One time, on my way out, the system wouldn't recognize my code and I was stuck behind the gate for a while. It finally recognized my code like there was never a problem. Unit: I have a second-level storage space. There are two freight elevators, each with a flatbed cart, so transporting items is pretty easy. Three Stars: Four months after I started renting the unit, Extra Space increased my monthly rate by 12%. I would expect that after a year, but not after four months. A reason this is troubling, and may even make Extra Space a two-star experience, is that the lights for the units are in the main walkways and are motion activated. The two lights by my unit don't work properly and so my space is very dark (feel around for boxes dark) and so I had to bring in a camping lantern so I can see in my unit. Four months is too early to increase the rate, and if the rate is increased, the basic element of working lights should be resolved. read more

Price was good at first but kept going up due to demand of the size of the unit. I finally got my stuff out of storage and notice that bugs/ termites were infested in 2 boxes eating away at any paper or cardboard. Bugs came from a crack in the floor. Luckily I had the insurance now let's see how that goes... read more

My storage unit was broken in twice within 3 months. They on purpose do not have surveillance cameras installed for the second floor units. Police officer told me that she came frequently to this storage because the units got broken in. I have reasons to believe this is the insider job. read more
