The space is bright and clean, with white walls, hardwood floors and lots of light. They offer a mix of paintings, sketches and prints as well as three-dimensional art, ranging from geometric abstracts to landscapes to whimsical metal people sculptures made from appliances. All are made by regional artists. I'm not really their target audience since I can't really afford hundreds of dollars for original art, but they did have some nice smaller prints at prices the little people could afford. I was tempted by a few smaller pieces that were under $40.

It was a great experience to do this together. Two hour time was perfect. Good instruction and great supplies. I love the colors and getting creative though this is not my wheelhouse, it was still a lot of fun. Classes are very affordable. The instruction was great and gave me some ideas to play with layering. I had a little problem with using a gift card but they were great in the office to get us signed up and squared away. We'll definitely be back!

While adorable magnets with super-strong hold may be their specialty, there is no lack of unique greeting cards, kitchen accoutrements such as towels and serving dishes, lotion bars (a must for the cold and dry Michigan winters), and giftable items, even if the recipient is you. Visiting Roeda helped round out my Christmas list this season. I hope that the people getting my gifts will be just as excited to receive them as I was to pick them out at Roeda!

When I walked in, I saw some coasters and I immediately recognized the artist - it was from Polka Dot Mitten in Saugatuck (I had just been to that store and bought one a few weeks ago), which was fun. They're also doing a promotion with some Main Street restaurants right now, if you purchase something there and then show the slip of paper at the restaurant, you get $10 off your next meal there. And vice versa, if you go to the restaurant, and then show the slip of paper at the store, you get 20% off one item. If you're going up the red stairs from the downstairs grocery store/entrance closest to the farmer's market, it'll be the first store on your left past the Kerrytown chime. 16 Hands is just an absolutely wonderful store, stocked to the brim with so many unique goodies and gifts. There are so many things here that I have genuinely never seen anywhere else, and I'm someone who naturally gravitates to tchotchke stores already and would like to think I have seen a vast selection already! There's a bit of everything in here, perfect for finding a gift for a friend, family, or a partner, or a little goodie for yourself. They've got beautiful art prints from independent artists, handmade ceramics, plus stationery, a bangin' candle section, lovely housewares and textiles like throws, pillows, and tea towels, plus jewelry, the list goes on and on. Recently on a visit to the campus, I walked past it again, but this time it stopped me dead in my tracks. I don't know if it's because present day Amanda is perpetually interested in decorating her house or what, but looking in from the windows, I saw so many Michigan-themed prints that I had never seen before in all my years of searching and hunting through every possible Michigan-related goods & decor store in the area. Every print I saw in Parrish Fine Framing and Art's window display were insanely cute & immediately evoked a strong desire within me to purchase them! So naturally, I went in without another moment's thought & boy was I rewarded. Inside, there are even more options than their window display. To this day, I think Parrish Framing probably has the biggest selection of gorgeous Michigan prints that I've ever seen. This is such a wonderful store, with the most helpful and friendly staff, and has just an overwhelming selection of options for you. I've bought calendars and cards from here as well as prints, and I definitely will be coming back to get some of my most prized prints framed soon because I just know they'll do a wonderful job given how thoughtful they are at curating their collection of goods they offer to begin with. The owner, Kim, was there during our visit and was happy to answer any questions we had. This was my first time in a bead store, so if it's your first time too, here are a couple of things that are good to know: Everything is sorted by style and size. I made the mistake of getting two different colors of beads made from the same material but in slightly different sizes. Oops! The strands of beads are all on clips. Each strand is separate. You can either take the entire clip up to the register or remove just the strand you want. If something doesn't have a price, Kim will check it for you if she doesn't already know it. She really knows her inventory, though, so don't worry! I would recommend having at least a general idea of what you're looking for because it would be very easy to get overwhelmed by all the options. Even though the store seems small, there is SO much to look at! Take your time, relax, and enjoy browsing. I had such a fun time and will definitely be back!

The owner was very helpful (I was there multiple times as kept going back for more things for my projects) - I was making pearl and leather necklaces as gifts and they had a very nice selection of the leather and some large drilled pearls- plus the owner showed me a better way to make the knots for my project so they look pretty darn good, if I do say so myself! They offer classes and had a nice selection of beads and findings, as well as examples of finished projects that are inspirational and aspirational- I will definitely be back! Stores like this deserve support- I was very happy to find it!
