Very unprofessional company. In trying to rush cutting down an ash tree, 300-400 pound chunks of tree were allowed to fall freely from a 2-3 story height right beside my house breaking up my flagstone path and then hitting the house. The experience was scary and seemed extremely dangerous. When I pointed this out I was asked angrily if I was a tree expert. I replied that it would seem reasonable that they would control the fall with ropes or at least guide the fall to open grass and not towards stone paths, fences or houses. read more

- Express Tree Service recently completed a big project for us. - Lance and the crew were very helpful and paid attention to detail and all of our requests for add on's. - Always answered my calls or returned calls right away. I would recommend for any yard project you may have 1) replaced complete fence on one side of house (looks awesome very straight and solid) 2) contracted 8 yards of stamped concrete... looks great. 3) repaired and painted other fence along property line 4) installed 2 gates.. work great and look even better 5) buried all gutter down spouts into French drain, came out great 6) moved a lot of existing rock and flag stone and made a great walkway on side of house (their idea, turned out so much better then it was). My family inherited a property that had a dead tree and multiple overgrown trees, bushes and vines that had gone untouched for about 5 years. An apple tree in the middle of the yard had sprouted what looked like a hundred saplings that were almost 5 feet high! It looked like a forest. We had 2 weeks to get the property looking beautiful for sale. Lance and his crew did an amazing job! It has taken me 5 months to calm down enough to even write this post as this was a very frustrating experience with Lance (not his Crew). I will detail out some of the issues we had. 1. Starting the project: We gave a deposit to Lance on 5/31 and we were told to tag trees for start work of 7/5 week. They didnt begin working on our project until August and the communication was not good during this time. 2. The Contract: #1 bullet point was check irrigation. This didnt get done ahead of their work. And now it is my 2nd biggest issue with Lance. 3. Irrigation: We had a conversation about making sure all the work they were doing was propoerly watered. He provided an additional quote to fix the irrigation issues for their work. I should have worked with an actual irrigation company as they took out 3 valves and replaced them with 2. Then just placed a box over the valves. 1st day of irrigation a pipe they just fixed burst and flooded the area. They never reset the box...its just sitting on top of the valves, not actually set in place. Also, I had to tell Lance multiple times that he cancelled a zone that worked and supported 6 plants that he planted. Lance's reponse was that "nothing worked" although it did and he wouldnt know because he never checked. They finally replaced the 3rd zone that they cancelled for no reason and tried to charge me for their mistake. There are more issues with their irrigation work but i feel like that would miss the point. 4. Communication: Biggest Issue - Lance actually got in a verbal argument with my wife when she asked him a series of questions specifically about his warranty. I heard this argumentative and agressive communication from Lance myself and have voicemails and text messages to prove it. He has treatened to sue us even though he was paid in full and we got left with his sub-par work, which I now have to pay an irrigation company to fix. 5. Money: My deposit check was written to a company but all of the others were requested to be written directly to Lance. We got in an argument when I told him he would not receive the final payment of 10% until the work was finished. This was on 8/11. He was paid the final 10% on 8/12, even though they still hadnt finished the irrigation correctly and that brought them back to the house in September. I could add 10 more bullet points here but just want to move on and warn others. read more

I contracted with Lance to do a cleanup of my daughter's property last fall. His crew did a great job clearing and hauling trash, trimming shrubs and trees and making the property look a lot more tidy. It's now a lot easier to maintain and it looks good. Great job guys! read more

Let me start by saying that I am writing this at the risk of being sued by Lance. He told me that if I write a bad review, he would sue me and that he has 3 attorneys. Is this who you want to hire? I won't bore you, and I am sure that there are two sides to every story, but suffice it to say that they did not finish the job (Lance decided), when he showed up he had alcohol on his breath, and over a disagreement about whether the bid included cutting a couple of dead branches, he became very huffy and aggressive--yelling at me (I am 5'4, female, 50's), and called his men off the job. When I pointed out that he had alcohol on his breath, he yelled that he had a beer at lunch (it did not smell like beer) and that he was 61 and he could have a beer if he wanted. He told his guys not to clean up the remaining branches and was yelling at me from his truck. I told him that I was going to write this up on yelp, and got my phone to take pictures of the mess. When he saw that I was taking pictures, he told his guys to clean it up, which they did. I had given him a check for half the job upfront, which he had cashed 2 weeks ago. So, I lost money on this one. Save yourself the drama! read more

Lance and the Express Tree Service and Landscaping team have done a beautiful job on our yard! They've spent the last five days cutting down a massive tree, trimming back our hedges, replacing sod, cleaning out window wells - the works. Lance is incredibly professional and trustworthy. His team - and I'm talking a TEAM of people - are super hard working and thorough. We have about .2 acres and it would have taken us the entire summer working outside every weekend to accomplish what they've done in 5 days...... and there is no way we could have done nearly as nice a job. Lance was also very cost competitive and over-delivered on services in the contract. He even went to the hardware store and replaced some of our broken sprinkler parts. I would recommend using Express Tree Service and Landscaping for either a once a year major clean up or as your regular weekly yard maintenance provider. My entire neighborhood contracts with Express Tree Service and Landscaping and looks lovely year round. I recently hired Express Tree Service and Landscaping to help me get my house ready for sale. They did all lawn care, tree trimming, tree removal, endless juniper bush trimming and pine needle clean up, as well as a bunch of touch up painting needed throughout the property. The owner, Lance, goes above and beyond in every way. This is customer service at its best. No joke. Their work is tremendous and the attention to detail is amazing. We were plagued with bad weather for weeks (constant rain) which delayed the job, but through that the guys even came back several times to re-do work already done to ensure it was perfect by the time the total job was done. I have a follow up story. Lance and company worked on my trees many months ago. I gave him a decent review at that time. I had some recent fence damage in a windstorm, which of course caused me to look over the fence carefully. Besides the wind damage, I noticed a broken board. It was far away from the wind damage, but right next to one of the big trees that Lance and company worked on. I was puzzled about the damage; it takes a lot of force to break a 2 x 4 that is only 4 feet long. I built the fence many years ago, using brass screws, and have always done my own repairs on the fence. When I got into the repair, I saw some very strange screws, like I had never seen before. What I realized, when I thought about it, was that someone had broken the board, not tell anybody, and then patched it back together, hoping that I would not notice. They fooled me for quite a while. But how could this have happened? Who might have done it? The only folks who have worked in that area in recent years were Express tree. If they had dropped a big limb on the fence, that could break it. So, can I prove that they broke it, and then tried to conceal what they had done? No, I cannot prove it. However, Express Tree were the only people with an opportunity to break it. I believe that they broke the fence, did not tell anyone, and then patched it back together, hoping that I would not notice. read more
