We were never given any estimation about how much this will cost nor did we received any bill, until the administration called me asking a credit card to pay the bill. I asked to have the bill send to me and to my surprise they are charging very high amount for the academic part. I asked the administration if there is any discount for this bill if I pay in full. She told me she will talk with the doctor and get back to me, which she never did. Two months later, they tried to charge the credit card on file without notifying me and failed. The administration called me again and asked for payment. I asked her about discount and this time she did set up an meeting for me and the doctor, which I appreciated. The doctor explained a lot of things but refuse to give me any type of discount. What I feel unreasonable is that the insurance paid the doctor about $1700 for nine hours of work but the doctor is charging me $1500 for a three and half hours of work. I understand there is difference when insurance negotiate price versus paying the part personally, but the hourly cost is more than doubled !! I tried to explain this reasoning to the doctor and in the end she became very impatient with me and started to say she was wasting the time which she would be able to charge more money. That is very unprofessional. Anyway, I refused to pay an unreasonable bill and even if they will send it to a collection agency, I am fine with that consequence. They will get much less money that way I guess :) I guess the lesson learned here is always ask for estimation before you do the evaluation, otherwise you will be shocked later by the bill.

Based on my experience, the manager/owner- Jamie seemed often emotionally dysregulated and the…read morereceptionists lacked professional accountability. My issue began after 3/4 visits, when I told them in-person that I needed to reschedule some future appts and they failed to update their calendar. Months later when I returned for tx, it felt like Jamie went off on me by allegedly yelling, and seemingly accusing me of lying- inside of a closed office with no witnesses! What an awful thing for an owner of a company to do to a handicap medical patient! What ever happened to the benefit of doubt, the customer is always right, or common decency? During my convo with Jamie, he barely allowed me to speak and then explicitly told me that my recollection of events "didn't happen!" Adding 3 more examples of Jamie's behavior that made me feel uncomfortable: 1. At my 1st appt, some of Jamie's front desk staff had ordered coffee for themselves but didn't offer the PTs in the back coffee so Jamie interrupted my appt to allegedly tell his front desk staff that he preferred them to make a coffee order for the entire staff. Then, in an open office, while patients were being treated, he told the PTs that he made that request and made jokes of a delivery war with the front staff. I found this to be toxic and an abuse of power. 2. During my time as a patient, I didn't have access to a portal to manage my appts, I didn't get appt confirmations, and there were no reminders (text or calls) so a month before my appts resumed, I went into the office and got a print out of my future appts. On the day of my 1st appt, 25 minutes before the onset of my appt, I called and asked the staff to confirm the appt time and they asked for me to arrive in 5 minutes (20 minutes early) and I told them that I'd be on time since this was a last minute request that I couldn't accommodate. Well, during my last convo with Jamie (referenced above), he told me that I was considered me late b/c I arrived on time b/c they needed me to do paperwork. It just seems to me that it was the responsibility of his staff to communicate their request for early arrival in advance and I shouldn't have been reprimanded for their poor communication and lack of a patient management system. 3. I feel like it was a horrible idea to have Jamie (a 6'2"+ tall white male doctor and company owner) to be alone in an office reprimanding a patient. Another staff was needed, preferably someone with HR or legal experience. It was esp, a bad idea to have Jamie sitting in front of the door, controlling when it could be opened or closed and when I could leave the room.

I was referred to With A Little Help by a friend of mine who is a hospice nurse. He actually gave me the names of three agencies, and I called them all. The first two had a corporate vibe, and sent me directly into a voicemail black hole. It was days before I heard back. When I called With A Little Help, within seconds, I was talking with Kacie, one of the owners, who was so kind and spent all of the time I needed talking with me about our situation and care needs. By the end of the phone call, we had a plan for an intake evaluation, and just a couple of days later, a new care team was in place...and just like that, the stress and worry that had been accumulating over many months lifted. This is just one example of the many, many I could share about the excellent care With A Little Help offers. They aren't a corporate-care behemoth. They are local, owner run, and some of the most caring people I've met in a long time. Kacie and Paul, the owners, worked with us to find the caregivers that are the best fit for our situation. The caregivers are highly skilled, professional, and compassionate. All of them have giant hearts.
