Troop saved my life!!! I could not have survived the newborn phase without the help of my doulas. They were all so caring, helpful and knowledgeable. Even though it can be tough to be separated from one's newborn baby, I felt so comfortable sleeping while my doula took care of him. Having overnight support allowed me to get the rest I needed to heal and gave me energy to spend time with my toddler during the day. Troop is like family to me! Pregnant and postpartum moms - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We signed up for doulas for 12 weeks while I was pregnant and put down the deposit (roughly $10k). Our needs changed postpartum and when we went to update our timeline we were told that the deposit we put down would not be applied to the updated timeline - basically we were asking for $8k in services and even though we had already paid $10k we were told that we still needed to pay more. They quoted the handbook which was not noted in the contract we signed and we were never told of this "policy" while interviewing or signing the contract. We received the handbook after we had signed the contract. We worked out an agreement after pointing out how ridiculous this was and we felt it was still worth it to move forward as we were hopeful that they would provide the services they promised. Over the course of four visits we had two different doulas. Both were very polite and nice but had totally different levels of care. The first doula set timers on her phone to wake up and check on our daughter as well as wake and bring her to feed so that she didn't go too long without eating. As a mom that is EBF this was immensely helpful and she was great to work with. The second doula was polite but did not take care of our daughter. She slept so deeply that did not wake during my daughter's feeding cues/crying. I awoke to engorged breasts and when I checked the monitor I could see my daughter fussing in her bassinet while the doula slept on. I also saw that she had set the temperature of the room to 74 degrees. For a 6 week old that can't regulate heat this was VERY concerning. I went to wake my husband to figure out how we could change it to a safe temperature and then went downstairs and woke the doula while getting my daughter from the bassinet. My daughter was so overheated that she could barely finish one side even though she regularly finishes both. While I was feeding her, this doula fell asleep again and when I brought my daughter back she did not wake to me entering the room- I changed my daughter's diaper and only after returning with a light on did she wake up. We were scheduled to have her for the next month and my husband and I did not feel comfortable leaving our child in her care again. When I emailed the company to cancel (on a Thursday with our next visit being a Monday), I received an OOO message from Lynette Wilson the Director of Operations. The following day (Friday) I forwarded the message to the scheduling team and did not receive a response. When Lynette returned that following Monday she did not ask why we were suddenly cancelling but did try to tell us that she was going to charge us for not cancelling 24 hours before the shift even though the message was sent several days before. Only after I was able to get Lynette on the phone (you cannot contact anyone in the office directly) did she relent. I also brought up the concerns with the doula - again she did not once ask why. She did not seem to care or bother to offer solutions but rather wanted to end the conversation. We've spent $10k+ for 4 nights. Pregnant and postpartum moms - this company does not care about you or your child. Their team of overnight doulas is sporadic in their level of care and created an unsafe environment for my child. This company only cares about squeezing you for money during one of the most stressful and vulnerable times of your life. read more

We looooooove Seattle doulas!! We can't recommend them highly enough. We hired them for day/night postpartum support. Emily and Christina were our primary doulas and my husband and I both agree with previous reviewers - it was such a wonderful experience. They became part of our family and I'm going to miss them so much. You can tell they really really genuinely care about their clients, and the babies. We found both of them to be so incredibly kind, knowledgeable, thoughtful and helpful -- just really good people, we feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with them. Emily and Christina came to our house several times a week for about 10 weeks. They helped us to build our confidence as first time parents, while ensuring we got as much sleep as we could in those early weeks. We learned so much about newborn care and breastfeeding as well. In addition to caring for mom and baby - the help with light housework was also great - from folding laundry, to washing bottles. One thing that sets this company apart from working with a single post partum doula is you have a full team - so while you do get paired with the same doulas, if someone is unavailable or gets sick - there's coverage for you - and everyone on their team is equally amazing. I'm not sure how we would have made it through the first 6 weeks without them. We were hesitant to use a doula at first, wanting our birth to just be the three of us as a new family, but after falling and breaking my arm at 7 months pregnant, it seemed like a better idea. Now I can't imagine what we were ever thinking when we thought otherwise. Christina was our birth doula and the emotional support she was able to give to both myself and my husband made a huge difference in the experience. From helping us understand what was happening next, listening to our fears, offering encouragement, and helping me process what ended up being a bit of a traumatic birth. Sheil and Amanda were our day and night doulas for the first several weeks and it made a huge difference. Getting some sleep, learning tips and tricks from them, and being reassured our baby was okay was incredibly helpful as I navigated fluctuating hormones, PPA, and everything else that comes with being a first time new mom. We miss all of our doulas already, but we feel much more confident on our parenthood journey having had their help in the beginning. It was worth every penny. read more

We had a great experience with Seattle Doulas. Our baby came 2.5 weeks early, and we had a challenging experience getting discharged from the hospital (getting discharged at midnight) so we felt unprepared. The support and care from Seattle Doulas was invaluable during all of the chaos. Bre, Brittney and Skye were our primary doulas and were all wonderful. They did everything from supporting with breastfeeding, taking care of household chores, setting up our nursery with various stations, and taking care of our baby girl so we could try to catch up on sleep. It's not possible to express how much we appreciated knowing that we could rest well with the assurance that our little one was in trustworthy hands who cared so much for her. They even baked us lactation cookies while we slept. We're not sure if/how we would have survived without them. As others have written, they became part of our family. While we will miss their visits, we feel empowered by our time with Seattle Doulas and confident now that we can take care of our baby well because of the support and training we received. read more

I found Morgan and Charlie when I was preparing to move to Seattle. They were an amazing resource as I tried to get familiar with local hospitals and care providers. They were infinitely supportive as I experienced prolonged prodromal labor. Charlie attended my birth and was amazing at coaching me through very intense back labor. She supported my choices and helped me talk through my options at every stage. My birth became very complicated very fast after I suffered from a serious complication. Charlie was supportive, reassuring and stayed with my husband until I was stable. I can't say enough about this team. They are smart, well educated and know their stuff. Let's start this by saying having a baby is hard; having one during the pandemic is harder. The Seattle Doulas team guided us through all trimesters, birth, and postpartum with gentleness, experience, and ease. They're knowledgeable, always available for clients, no question is stupid, and they're delightful as humans on top of it all. My birth was really traumatic - including 3 days of rough induction, failed epidurals, an unplanned emergency c-section, and not the smoothest recovery. Having a calm and passionate doula in the room to hold my hand and speak up for me to get a great standard of care during delivery made all the difference; I couldn't recommend it more. I never worked with a doula before and didn't have much knowledge about it but I found a benefit at my work that offer postpartum benefits so I looked into this when I was pregnant with my second. I had to jump through some hoops to qualify for this benefit through my employer's insurance program, but the Seattle Doulas team was super helpful and accommodating in working with me so I can utilize this benefit and work with them. I booked them a few months prior to my due date and we stayed in touch as we got closer to the date. I ended up delivering early and Sheil the scheduling coordinator was really accommodating in getting care set up for our first day! I was still unsure what to expect in a postpartum doula but as soon as we met our doula Kristen she put our mind at ease. I thought it might be strange having someone at our house but with Kristen, I never felt judged and she was so sweet in making sure our whole family including my toddler felt comfortable. The first few weeks with a newborn are ROUGH but Kristen made it so much easier and most of all gave our family the rest and bonding we needed and I felt at ease knowing my newborn was in good hands during the night. She also supported me during the postpartum period and her support made the transition a bit easier. Kristen also offered newborn tips and soothing tricks which was awesome to learn about even as second time parents because you tend a forget a lot. We extended the original contract with them and they were super flexible on timing, dates, etc based on our needs. It was so worth it for us but I understand hiring a doula is a privilege, but if you have the opportunity and the means I would definitely recommend them! read more

Morgan was our miracle worker throughout my birth journey. Her presence, tone, and energy brought so much peace and positivity to my partner and I throughout the whole experience. She is gentle yet strong, so respectful & attentive to me as an anxious first time mom. Her background as a NICU nurse is also tremendously helpful - she is extremely at ease with all the nurses and doctors in the hospital setting and very knowledgeable in answering some of my medical questions when there were no medical professional around. Finally, when it came time to deliver my baby - her words and directions gave me so much strength. She also really supported my partner throughout the whole experience - and he looks so fondly back to the day our son was born. I had just moved to the Seattle area 2 months before my due date and we didn't know anyone here. I decided I needed some support and without any family around, we agreed to look for a doula. Seattle Doulas was one of the first hits and the process of getting set up with them was really easy. It was important to me to work with someone who was comfortable working with a queer couple and would leave us feeling safe and seen. I had a C-section, so I needed a lot of time to recover physically from the operation. Morgan, the person who handled scheduling, was great and communicative. Whenever there was issues with weather, she let us know asap and kept in touch to reschedule. She set us up with Brittney who was so sweet and supportive and looked after our kiddo with so much care. Brittney helped answer my questions around what was normal and what wasnt, and I was able to bring some q's to the doctor as a result of our conversations. She also helped me with babywearing which has made a huge difference! Having her overnight support let us sleep so much more which helped us keep our heads together throughout those early days. I recently hired Morgan as my doula and would recommend her and the other Seattle Doulas wholeheartedly! Due to an overlapping birth (my baby came 2 weeks past their due date), Morgan first had Alise attend the beginning of my birth, so there was no gap in support. Besides being helpful through my contractions, offering ideas on ways to move and change positions, Alise was very supportive through a scary part of my birth where my baby's heart rate dropped. She kept me calm and breathing until the heart rate stabilized again. I wasn't expecting something like that during my birth, and the emotional support she provided (on top of my Mom's) was so so helpful and needed. Then, Morgan was able to make it for the main part of my birth, and much like Alise - supported me and helped me talk through a lot of decisions I didn't think I would have to make. She was great - so comforting and encouraging - as well as knowledgeable about my options and how things worked in the hospital! She also came over for the postpartum visit and helped me with breastfeeding, learning how to pump, store my milk...etc. She asked how I was doing and was available to talk about how everything had been going. Finally, I have also used the Seattle Doulas for postpartum doula work and they have also been extremely helpful! I got to take a 2 hour nap while Christina cooked me a meal, fed my baby, gave him a bath and trimmed his nails. Amazing! The Seattle Doulas team was recommended to me by a friend and I would definitely recommend them to others. A friend recently asked me for any tips to get through labor. And at first I could only think about how hard it was, but then I also drew up my memory of looking into the eyes of another woman who anchored me in the midst of that hard and hearing her voice spurring me on when I thought I had reached my limit. So, that is my tip and my greatest hope for every woman in the intense, beautiful, hard experience of labor, that you have another woman there proclaiming your strength and holding your hand to the finish line. We got to work with both Charlie (for an early procedure) and Morgan (for delivery) and I can't recommend them enough. They are both warm, incredibly knowledgeable, and excellent communicators. Seattle doulas really fills a missing niche in that they offer very flexible services that can be just postpartum. Like many in the seattle area we don't have any family around. When I had my first I looked for a doula that was willing to just do a few hours a week postpartum and couldn't find anything that wasn't a huge financial commitment. With baby #2 I knew I was going to be even more in need of a few hours a week to myself. So thankful to have found seattle doulas!! I spoke with one of the owners while pregnant who answered my questions. Assuming you only want a few shifts a week no specific commitment is required in advance. After baby was born I let them know and they sent me bi-weekly emails asking when and how many shifts I wanted the following 2 weeks. Everything is very organized!. They do their best to have the same doula come to your home each time, but do have a team which is nice in case you need a specific time that doesn't work with your regular doulas schedule. Christina was amazing with my very fussy baby and I looked forward to her coming every week to give me a few hours to leave the house and run some errands or get some exercise knowing my baby was well cared for. She also had lots of great suggestions and didn't hesitate to reach out to her network of contacts with any she couldn't answer. I understand that with all the costs of childbirth it might feel hard to justify spending extra on doula care. That being said, investing in postpartum care with Morgan was one of the best decisions I made in bringing my first baby into the world. From day one, Morgan gracefully entered into our family life without a blip and offered nothing but support, wisdom, kindness and friendship. She has tons of newborn knowledge and (other than my husband) is the only person I could really relax leaving my baby with. She's a total pro. I could not imagine the birth of our son without Morgan. Throughout the process, she was a calming force, a source of knowledge and comfort, and an immediate friend. I would (and have) recommended her to anyone looking to expand their support team for pregnancy, birth, and post-partum. As the non-birthing partner, I found her presence to be incredibly empowering, giving me confidence and making the space for me to be my wife's primary support throughout birth. Her nursing experience was a huge draw for us. She was able to translate, as well as provide the "why", for any and all recommendations made by the OB and nursing staff to help us make our decisions. She ensured that we had all relevant information, with our birth plan and preferences in mind, without pushing her own. Finally, her post-partum visit (and availability over text and phone) were essential for us to troubleshoot feeding and newborn care in those first few days at home. I couldn't recommend her more. I selected Seattle Doulas after viewing their Childbirth education videos, since they seemed quite knowledgeable and personable, just the kind of people I needed to advocate for my preferences during labor and delivery and to support me through my pain. I did hesitate to hire them though, due to the hefty price tag--would they be worth it if I ended up having a C-section, as many women in their 40s do? Alas, I did end up having a C-section, and regret paying for their services. First of all, they do offer unlimited phone and email counsel perinatally, so I decided to take advantage of it by consulting them two separate times regarding medications the hospital wanted to administer. I understand they are not doctors so do not want to contradict the doctors' advice, but given their vast experience as midwives, I would've expected at least some anecdotal examples and perhaps a "let me research this and get back to you". Instead, they urged me to think it over myself, and seemed to mildly endorse whatever the hospital recommended. And when it was decided quite suddenly that I was to have a C-section, I would've appreciated some insight into the necessity of its timing. If I'd been coached to ask the appropriate questions, it may (or may not) have been delayed. Their services were not completely wasted, though. They did show up an hour early to provide support for my significant other as he anxiously waited for my surgery to commence, and provided some distraction and comfort during the actual surgery. Most importantly, they helped me express colostrum almost immediately after surgery, as requested by the NICU nurses. However, two of their services may not have been needed. The anesthesiologist who stood by my side in the OR provided more comfort and welcome distraction throughout my surgery (positioning my baby so I could see her, pulling my blanket up, reassuring me as to the health of my child), and was not distracted by a cellphone. My doula did not seem to be in tune with what was actually occurring during my surgery, so did not provide any assurances or keep me abreast of what most likely was occurring. As for the expression, the nurses at that hospital are trained to assist with breastfeeding so I'm certain the nurse on duty would've assisted with expression, if they were not there. On top of it, the doula did not seem aware of the items in my birth plan. So, what I received for almost $2,000 is one prenatal 90 minute virtual consultation, about a 40 minute pre-op period where she entertained my boyfriend, about 40 minutes in the operating room, then an hour afterwards. They also throw in one post-partum in-home visit and then a virtual post-partum call. The in-home visit was not well utilized and the virtual pp visit never came to fruition (despite my attempts). I'm still waiting for the photos that were taken in the OR, which they said they were editing. The total cost for their services averages more or less $400 an hour--a very steep price tag for minimal comfort. Frankly I could've just asked one my friends to distract me in the operating room and advocate on my behalf--I just didn't feel like this doula provided any insight or skills that years of being a doula should afford. I'm giving them three stars because it sounds like they'd be helpful and worth the money during labor, but cannot recommend them for support for c-sections. read more

I'm not sure why I had such a different experience than everyone else. The set up went well, our first meeting went well and we did a bringing baby home class that went well but the birth was awful. I went to the hospital for cervical ripening and was up all night having up to 10 minute long cluster contractions and hours of back labor (my babe was in posterior position and had a bruise on her hear from pushing into my spine. They had to station a nurse in my room because I was in so much pain. Our midwife told us to call the doula because things were not progressing and despite trying they could not get my contractions under control. We called and were told, sorry we don't show up until the baby is coming. They ended up giving me an epidural at zero centimeters because of all that was going on. After that my partner and I were both pretty distressed that in our time of need, our doula was not available. When the baby was coming, the doula said she would come, we told her no need but she showed up and honestly just got in the way. My baby was born distressed because she had a rapid heart beat after being pulled out by forceps yet right away our doula had me trying to breast feed while she was screaming. I finally lost my temper and told her to back off. Overall, not a good experience. We did not do the follow up appointment and quite frankly I should have asked for our $ back. It really turned me off to ever having a doula in the future. read more

Highest recommendation! Words cannot express how grateful we are that Jen & Alise were our doulas. We have had three previous birth experiences and this, the fourth, was the best. From the first meeting to our last prenatal visit, Jen and Alise showered us with support, praise, and helpful advise. Prenatal- My husband & I came to Jen and Alise through a professional recommendation because of a prior loss, and they were even better than we hoped. They had the perfect mix of salty and sweet and coupled with their fun and informative podcast, we felt there was no stone unturned in our preparation. We were lucky enough to have Jen conduct a prenatal birthing class for our children, ages 4 & 6, which was incredibly helpful and perfectly pitched for their ages. We all felt like she was part of the family after one meeting! Birth experience- We had a particularly challenging birth experience because we had to transfer care from midwives to hospital care at the end of the pregnancy and we couldn't have made this transition as successfully without the CONSTANT support & advice from Jen and Alise. Although we had carefully planned a home birth, we had to change plans last minute for medical reasons to a cesarean. With different doulas, this could have been a devastating experience for us. Fortunately, with Jen and Alise by our side to help navigate the complicated hospital systems, we were able to find a place to deliver our sweet baby that was still consistent with our family priorities. They never missed a beat from helping us prepare for our home birth to supporting a completely different birth plan. Alise was with us throughout this emotional procedure, no more than an arms length away. Postnatal- Alise made sure we had we had everything we needed for our transition home. Our postnatal visit with Jen & Alise was validating, loving and affirmed our decision to work with Seattle Doulas. They will always hold a very special place in our hearts. read more

I used the services of Jen and Alise at Seattle Doulas to support me during my journey to becoming a mother. Within the first few minutes of meeting Jen and Alise, I knew either one of them would be the type of presence that would help make my birth experience a positive one. They did not have a set approach or philosophy to share with me, instead they were looking to understand what my vision of a 'successful' birth experience was and then figure out how they could best support me in realizing that. I liked the partnership doula set up because I was able to get to know both Jen and Alise in our meetings before the birth which gave me the comfort of having met and interacted with the person who would be at my birth. I could not imagine going through my experience without Jen's support and experience - from suggesting different positions, helping me focus through contractions and explaining things in more detail to me as labor was progressing. After my daughter was born, Jen helped me to plan how to best deal with the fact that she was jaundiced and losing weight. She asked how important breastfeeding was to me and helped me to build a plan to navigate through the challenges with continuing the breastfeeding journey in mind. She literally sat in my living room with me and wrote out a step-by-step plan to follow. At the follow up meeting with both Jen and Alise around the 6 week mark, they focused on my birthing experience and trying to figure out if there were any lingering unresolved feelings / concerns, as well as doting on my most precious little girl!! Jen, Alise, and Morgan are *amazing*. From our very first meeting, I felt totally heard, supported, and respected by all of them. I love that they are a team that attends all prenatal meetings so we were given the chance to get to know them before the birth. Getting a doula (these doulas) was the best decision we could have made and I HIGHLY recommend this team! I gave birth during the height of Corona virus in Seattle and I know I would not have felt as safe had Alise not been there. The energy she brought to our birth was nothing short of amazing as she shared tips and tricks, different positions to try during labor, and suggested ways my husband could help. She followed my lead and supported and encouraged me but also reminded me that I was totally in control and that anything I wanted to do was a perfectly good idea. Don't want the epidural yet? My husband and I entrusted the Seattle Doulas with the birth of our second child after a very warm and assuring introductory visit. We are so glad we did. Jen and Alise were fantastic during throughout the process, from the first meet and greet through to our second postpartum appointment. We felt supported during labor itself, with phone calls and texts to check-in and strategize before going to the hospital. Jen was our doula during labor; her attitude and participation was exactly what we needed to get to "the end". When Jen arrived in our delivery room, she immediately went to work for us, getting cold wascloths for my forehead and massaging my lower back. Her words of encouragement bolstered me through the most difficult time, and we ended up having a natural birth. My husband and I benefitted immensely from their vast experience as doulas and mothers. I can't recommend them enough and will reach out for their support if we ever decide to have #3! read more

I would give 6 stars if that was an option. A friend recommended that I call Jen at Seattle Doulas after I had my son. He was less than 2 weeks old and I was experiencing some serious anxiety and lacked the confidence to take care of my son (he is our first). My husband and I have no family close by so we were on our own. I was desperate for help for both me and my baby. Jen was like an angel sent from heaven. She brought me back to life again--she helped me gain confidence as a mother. She came to my house and worked with me twice a week for 3 months and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself, for my baby, and for my husband. Not only did Jen support me emotionally she also helped me make some very difficult decisions such as breast versus formula feeding and daycare versus a nanny share, etc. On top of that she cleaned my house, showed me how to care for my son, and just generally helped me keep my life in order when I felt that it was spiraling out of control. I was completely overwhelmed and I felt so alone after my son was born until Jen came into our lives. I can't recommend her enough to those out there who are looking for postpartum support . I had the pleasure of being supported by Jen and Alise at the births of both of my children. Alise was an important part of my support team as I gave birth to my daughter at the Center for Birth three years ago, and Jen supported me this summer as I gave birth to my son. They both partnered exceptionally well with the different midwives I had directing my care. They bring deep experience, empathy, and skill in supporting both laboring mothers and their partners during the birth itself and afterword in the process of adjusting to new parenthood. With my second child we ended up needing a (non-emergency) transfer to the hospital fairly far along in the labor process and Jen's steady presence helped me stay focused and calm during what could have been a very stressful situation. Although I expected my doulas to be helpful during the births, what surprised me was how valuable it was to have them help me process what I had experienced afterward.  Birth is such an intense emotional and physical experience and I found it extremely helpful to talk about it later with someone who was there, could share what they observed about that unique birth, while also placing it in a larger context of other births they have attended. This pre- and post- birth support was even more important for me giving birth in 2020 with all of the COVID challenges. I highly recommend Seattle Doulas - Jen and Alise are wonderful! read more

Jen and Alise are absolutely amazing! We chose to work with Seattle Doulas for the birth of our second child, we had our first child in a different city without the help of a doula. Both Jen and Alise answered any questions we had throughout the pregnancy, including talking me through some difficult decisions regarding switching health care providers and hospitals late in my third trimester. I was fortunate enough to see them both frequently when I attended prenatal yoga at Aditi, and during that time they also formed a great relationship with our 3 year old daughter who still refers to them as our "ladies". Ultimately Jen was present for our labor and birth, and she was a wonderfully calm presence in a sometimes hectic environment. She helped me and my husband through ten hours of unmedicated labor on pitocin, supported me as I made the decision to get an epidural (not in my original plan) and was level headed and calm through some very intense situations. While our son's birth didn't go exactly as planned, I felt positive and happy with our delivery in large part because of Jen's support. After deliver both Jen and Alise both checked in to see how we were doing and spend time with our baby. They are both warm, caring and incredibly skilled. Covid changed so much of what I had planned out for my pregnancy. I was so stressed and felt completely unsupported in all aspects of the pregnancy and having a newborn. Jen and Alise were honestly the one stable support I had throughout. They posted videos and offered free check in zooms if people just wanted to chat or vent, which I needed with all the hormones. When I went into labor I was even more stressed due to the freeway being shut down and their being a curfew in the city. I labored longer at home than I planned and even though it was overnight Alise offered to come over to my house since my contractions were well established. We ultimately decided to have her meet us at the hospital. The hospital was on full covid precautions and Alise had to wear a mask the entire time and wasn't allowed to leave the room and she never seemed bothered by this. I was hysterical when we got to the hospital and she massaged my back, got me to drink some fluids and helped me labor in the tub. Alise had lots of positions for us to try (I had researched so many things to help in labor and never even opened the book I had written them all down in) Alise suggested a bath which was the key for calming me down and getting me through the worst of labor. She was great with my partner and had lots of suggestions and help for us to work together. She was honestly the voice of reason during labor when my partner and I were so overwhelmed we couldn't think straight. After my son was born I had a bad bleed and needed clotting factors and while my midwife and the medical team was quickly trying to stop the bleeding Alise was amazing at keeping me calm and explaining what was happening and reassuring me. After we went home my son would fight sleep and was a colicky baby. Alise came over for a follow up appointment and we had her come a few more times as a postpartum Doula to help. She was amazing, she was able to get him to sleep, had positions and suggestions for us to use in the future. Alise and Jen did not judge any of my decisions, they gave advice when I asked and were very clear that all the decisions were mine and they would support it. They didn't push anything on me. I was able to have a positive birth experience is this crazy covid time based in large part to them! read more

I could not have been happier with Seattle Doulas! I was recommended to them by a friend and was still a little unsure if I wanted a Doula at my birth. After the initial meet and greet my husband and I were both sold! They were so friendly, informed and honestly just fun to talk to. They calmed any nerves we had and I immediately knew I needed them during my labor and delivery. They met with us a few weeks before my due date and talked through our birth plan and various options/decisions. They had all the answers to our questions and offered their full support, no judgement, for our birth plan decisions. Jen was at our birth, and was the support system my husband and I both needed. Jen was amazingly supportive and comforting during my labor and delivery and made the experience much more calm. We welcomed our son into the world, and Jen even captured photos of those first few moments of him in my arms! A few days after the birth, Jen stopped by our house to follow-up, check in on us and offer support and help with any questions we had. We had a final follow-up about 6-weeks later. I cannot recommended Jen and Alise enough as doulas. We already plan to work them again for future pregnancies! read more

I would highly recommend using Seattle Doulas for support during the prenatal, birthing, and postnatal experience. Having guidance from two highly experienced doulas and mothers is extremely helpful as a new mom (and I will utilize for any further pregnancies without hesitation as well!). For me, it was very important to find somebody to discuss my preferences with prior to birth who will be a calming presence during the delivery, reminding me that everything occuring was normal, and providing suggestions for pain relief and to help progress labor along. Elise attended my birth and was that and so much more. She provided calming reassurance to both my partner and I, advocated for the best healthcare, recommended positions and supported me during each transiiton. Elise helped make my birth experience a positive one, and also captured many special moments during the delivery. At our postpartum visit it was so helpful to talk through the birth experience with her as well as to review the photographs she took at a later date. Definitely don't hesitate to reach out and meet with them if you are interested in a doula! read more
