We took the class in the winter of 2018 and found it so helpful to prepare for the birth of our baby girl. In addition to the hypnobirthing philosophy and techniques, you learn how to be your own advocate in the birthing process and how to prepare for the inevitability of medical intervention (that will arise in some form). We felt truly supported and educated when facing an induction that I did not want, nor need. Tracy gave us the tools and knowledge to push back when we were feeling pressure from our medical caregivers. Once labor started things progressed fast and although I felt as though I was not utilizing the techniques given the intensity and speed of the labor, the midwife that delivered our baby said she could really tell how focused and relaxed I was given the intensity of my contractions. I wish I could give Tracy and Seattle HypnoBirthing SIX stars! Last week, my wife gave birth to our beautiful, healthy baby and she did so by making extensive use of the HypnoBirthing techniques we practiced. As a result, my wife gave birth without any pain medication and had a great (despite a very intense, very challenging) birth experience!!! Thanks to our HypnoBirthing classes and regular practice, my wife was able to very quickly calm down and claim rest after each surge. During a very intense, active labor, my wife actually fell asleep a few times, for the brief moments in between surges! If you or your spouse is pregnant, do yourself a favor and take this class!!!! If you're taking this class, do yourself a favor and _practice_ !!! The techniques worked because my wife had already trained her body to respond to the techniques and methods Tracy taught us. Finally, and I cannot over-emphasize this, having a great nurse, who supports natural childbirth and has some experience with it, is worth everything in the world!!! Our nurse had taken HypnoBirthing and was a former doula so she not only completely understood our goals but she knew the same techniques, methods and positions and was able to make suggestions that slipped my mind with all the excitement of the day. Let's just say that I'm probably a typical first time(soon to be) dad, and I had no clue what this whole class was about. My wife "dragged" me there, and I've heard horror stories from friends about how painful baby classes are. Hypnobirthing sounds like some hippie thing you would do in a sweat lodge and I was not optimistic. That being said, i went with an open mind, just not expecting much. Well, I was entirely wrong. Not only did I learn a huge amount, but I feel 100% prepared for the birth of my daughter. The beauty of the class is that it makes things so simple that by the end you feel prepared rather than scared. The whole idea is that you just need to be calm and relaxed in order to let your body do the work. Instead of treating birth as a medical event, Hypnobirthing treats it as the natural even that it is. Makes complete sense since that's how babies are born in nature all the time. Tracy did a great job not only explaining everything and making the mothers feel confident in the class, but also helping us birth partners to feel confident in our role. I feel safe saying that I know exactly what's expected of me on the big day, I know how to handle complications if they come up, and I know what I can do to help my wife, and I know I won't freak out at any point. Kira was absolutely amazing for our hypnobirthing class! We felt like every moment we spent in the class was worthwhile and would recommend it to everyone, even for a second baby. We actually wish we had more classes to go to. We had signed up for another class and were taking it at the same time as the hypnobirthing class, but we ended up canceling our other class because we were getting so much more out of this one. The class focuses on visualization and breathing and specific strategies for working through the labor and delivery process. Eliminating fear and focusing your energy on the things your body needs to do to efficiently deliver your baby were the keys for us. We had our baby two months ago. Kira is the rock star of hypnobirthing! I wish she could attend my birth and be my birth companion. She is awesome. Something about her voice is very soothing so when she reads the scripts it's very easy to relax and get into that desired state. A lot of the guys in my birthing class fell asleep when she would read the scripts. I loved the atmosphere for the class too-- there's a huge TV screen to watch the films on and comfy theater style chairs to sit in. I actually miss my class already and it just ended last week. I wish we had one more class. At first I thought a 2 1/2 hour class was going to be SO long but it actually just flies by. Kira is upbeat and engaging and keeps it very interesting. She was so sweet and even extended her help to us for after our births if we need anything. As a single mom, this is invaluable. I know that I will be picking up the phone when I have my little one and calling Kira. She made me feel good about my situation, wasn't judgmental and genuinely cared about me. read more

I attended HypnoBirthing after a recommendation from my Midwife. I have always had medical based phobias and I was hoping to get a sense of relaxation through attending class. I was more than pleased with the class. For me, it was necessary that I take the techniques seriously and practice as much as possible to try and keep my out of hospital birth a reality. Kira is amazing and I would recommend this class to anyone who is looking for a natural birth experience or anyone with anxiety around birth. My husband and I had the pleasure of taking hypnobirthing classes from Kira at Seattle Hypnobirthing recently. It was truly a great experience for us! We wanted to approach our second time through this from a different angle, which included being more prepared for the labor and delivery, hiring a doula and making sure to be better advocates for ourselves and our birth preferences. This class gave us the skills with which to tackle all of the above. We ended up feeling much more prepared, empowered and much less nervous to greet this experience than we had with our first birth. The course material is absolutely fascinating and Kira presents it in a fun, welcoming and accessible way. We felt very comfortable asking questions and sharing personal thoughts and feelings. While providing information about how this industry is currently set up to sometimes work in a way that does not suit the natural process and/or individual beliefs and needs, Kira remained respectful to the industry and what positive things it CAN provide. This is not always the case in alternative birthing literature and we noticed and appreciated the difference. It made it easier to trust the professionals we ended up working with. It also made it easier to advocate for ourselves from a calm place rather than a defensive one. Our birth took many turns and was a long haul. It was challenging and we are grateful to say that we have no regrets! We relied on our hypnobirthing skills to maintain as much calm and peace as we could, to advocate for ourselves when need be, to have a better understanding of what was happening physically and politically within the hospital and to trust ourselves. A friend of mine who had taken Kira's class and went on to have the all natural birth she had planned, wholeheartedly recommended that I take the Seattle Hypnobirthing class. As a first time mother, I knew I wanted to take some sort of birthing class, but didn't really know where to start. I am not the type of person who is all about being "natural" or crying/going into a major depression if medical intervention becomes necessary during the birthing process. I didn't really know what to expect from the class, but since I trusted my friend, I decided to sign up and bring my reluctant husband along for the ride. During the first break of the first class, my husband and I walked to the car to get a snack and as we were talking, we were both shocked by how helpful and encouraging the class had already been for us, after just 1 hour! I didn't even realize how scared I truly was to give birth. My husband and I are both doctors and so we have been taught all about how an embryo develops, etc. but we felt like nothing could have prepared us for the actual birthing process, especially since every woman is different and every birth is different. After taking the course from Kira, we were stunned, STUNNED by how much we didn't know before and by how peaceful and calm we felt. Not to mention, the relaxation techniques learned have now incorporated into our every day lives as well. We felt prepared and went from dreading giving birth to actually looking forward to it with eager anticipation. Kira and the Hypnobirthing curriculum, put our minds at ease and provided us with the necessary tools to get us ready for the big day. I would absolutely recommend this course to everyone, regardless of your frame of mind or if you go into it adamant that you want a natural birth or not. I took the Hypnobirthing class this winter with Kira. Even my husband enjoyed it, which is a lot to say when the class is at 9:30am on Saturday mornings. Coming out of class I was confident and looking forward to the birth of our son. The breathing and relaxation techniques were helpful in both preparing and for the birth itself. My husband learned how to be an active partner in the labor. The class helped us understand the process, be informed about the pros and cons of medical interventions, and communicate successfully with the hospital staff. We had a doula, but because of the class, I felt like we didn't need one because we were so prepared. I did end up with an c-section, but I was able to try everything possible before it became necessary using hypnobirthing techniques. read more

My husband works out of state for a significant part of the year and Tracy was extremely flexible in scheduling private classes for us. Because my sister would also be attending the birth, we did a private session with her, too. The breathing and visualization techniques were amazing. My husband and I had private sessions with her and it gave us the confidence going into the birth of our son that we had a set of tools that we could rely on. I'm so thankful I chose Seattle Hypnobirthing for my birth preparation. Tracy is one of the most down-to-earth women, making a new concept like hypnobirthing totally approachable. She gives you a plethora of tools to go into your labor with, knowing that not everything works for everyone so you can pick and choose what works for you in the moment. Because of this class, I was able to remain calm, relax in between contractions enough to make it through 40 hours of labor, and ultimately have the birth that I wanted. I highly recommend this course to any expecting mom regardless of the type of birth you are planning. I read the book beforehand thinking I could get the info I needed without having to pay for the classes. I could not have been more wrong. The classes provide a wealth of information that isn't in the book and many of the techniques I glossed over while reading were highlighted in class and have become my favorite go-to relaxation techniques as I prepare for the homebirth of my first baby. Also, you will receive another CD (not the one included in the book if you buy beforehand) from your instructor which will help you achieve a deep meditative state (works like a charm for me). I can't stress enough that just reading the book is not enough! On top of that, Kira is a fantastic instructor and the classes fly by. The cost of the classes is a small price to pay for peace of mind, in my opinion. I have several friends who are due around the same time as me and while each of them can't wait to meet their baby, they all say they are terrified about giving birth. When I told my obstetrician about my concerns regarding the potential side effects of pain medication during labor and delivery, she recommended hypnobirthing classes. I'd never heard of hypnobirthing, but found information about Tracy and her practice, Seattle HypnoBirthing, on Yelp. Despite being a mental health counselor and believing in mindfulness and other arguably talternative therapeutic techniques, I was skeptical that hypnosis skills could help prepare me and my partner for childbirth. During our first meeting with Tracy, my skepticism was assuaged by her authenticity, warmth, and grounded, logical approach. We met with her individually four times during the last few weeks of my pregnancy. I found the breathing, relaxation and affirmation techniques very helpful. In combination with Tracy's anecdotal stories about clients' childbirth experiences, the techniques made me feel confident in our ability to have the labor and delivery we hoped for. My husband found "being aware of what we were walking into, and all the potential possibilities of how things could transpire was very helpful; and having a very clear role of how to help you made me feel confident and in control." Our daughter's birth went as we hoped. We labored at home for several hours, taking Tracy's advice to eat and drink fluids, and remain as relaxed and comfortable as possible. By the time we arrived at Swedish First Hill I was 7cm dilated. Our nurse and doctor were very supportive of our wishes to have a natural birth. Our nurse even reminded my partner of pressure holds and showed him a new technique for increasing my comfort between surges. Thanks to hypnobirthing, throughout labor I felt relaxed and confident that my body and baby were working in harmony. At no point was I afraid or did I feel the need for pain medication. My husband was more supportive than I could have hoped for. He was calm, attentive, fully present and happy throughout the labor and delivery. We just completed the HypnoBirthing course with Kira and are so glad we did. She teaches all these wonderful techniques for achieving a safe, gentle and natural birth in an open, comfortable atmosphere and small classes (about 4 couples). Although we haven't yet put what we've learned to the ultimate test - the birthing day - we feel really confident that what Kira taught us will indeed make that day just as we envision. And not only do we have a bunch of tools to use for our baby's birth, we can take these same relaxation techniques with us as we embark on our new journey as parents. Kira is very personable, professional and just fun to be around. She always had answers for our questions and offered her own personal tips as a mom. During the classes you learn about the birth process, breathing, relaxation and visualization techniques, and labor positions based on Marie Mognan's HypnoBirthing method. Kira leads the class through self-hypnosis scripts that help you to relax and access your subconscious mind. We had never done anything like this before but each exercise was really awesome and powerful. We finished our class just a few weeks before the due date, but we already feel really good about what we've learned and how to use it. Practice is the key becoming comfortable with these techniques so you can call on them whenever you need. I ended up getting an epidural AND needing a C-section, and I still benefitted greatly from the natural birthing methods of this class. Before medical interventions became necessary during my labor, my husband and I were an incredible team who got through 12 hours of labor through hypnobirthing (the midwives were very impressed!). I feel like this class brought the two of us together and enabled my husband to be a lot more involved in the entire pregnancy/birth experience. Tracy is an awesome instructor. I cannot recommend HypnoBirthing enough. I was initially a little skeptical because the name of the course seemed a little woo-woo and out there. However, after reading some reviews and hearing my husband say he thought it'd be a good idea, we gave it a shot. I'm so happy we did! Our instructor was Tracy. She was warm, bright, thoughtful, articulate, understanding, and so knowledgeable. We learned so much about the physiology of labor and how to see giving birth in a non-clinical setting. We learned a lot of tools for calm birthing and what to expect at the hospital, and ultimately felt totally prepared for The Big Day. After my water broke, I followed the guidelines we learned. I took a shower, did the relaxation techniques, had lunch, and even though I was excited and nervous (baby's coming!! woohoo!!), I was basically just... fine. My first baby and I wasn't scared at all. Thanks to HypnoBirthing and Tracy's fantastic coaching, my husband and I were fortunate to have the birth experience we'd hoped for. The first time they checked my dilation, I was already 9.5 cm. Time seemed to fly by. No drugs, no IV, no cords restraining me, no premature cord clamping, and total freedom to roam as I wished. We had a "circumstance" and our delivery physician, aware of our birthing preferences, worked with us to successfully avoid medical intervention. We had a wonderful and understanding hospital staff (Tracy and Kira explain how to communicate *with* them so that you're working as a team) and at the end - a beautiful baby. He came out wide-eyed and serene. The hospital staff marveled at our birth experience, and we even had two doctors come by in the morning to meet the "Hypnobirthing parents" they'd heard so much about. It was pretty cool. Give HypnoBirthing a chance. And do the assigned homework! It will put you in the driver's seat for one of the coolest experiences of your life. I worked with Tracy Adams to prepare and recover from total knee replacement surgery. She helped me to feel calm and centered as I approached the surgery date, and to help with healing and pain after surgery. I listened to her several times a day to help my body reduce inflammation and lessen pain at the surgery site. Tracy's amazing specialized recordings were the trick to get me to reduce my pain and anxiety while healing. I owe a great debt to her for her help. My husband and I took Tracy's Hypno birthing classes in preparation for the birth of our second child. After having a difficult delivery with our first child we had a lot of anxiety and wanted to ensure we were better able to advocate for ourselves during our second birth. Not only did we feel more empowered for our second birth, we were able to let go of a lot of negative emotions that we had held onto from our previous experience. We used the techniques Tracy provided us for 12 hours of unmedicated labor, on pitocin, and even though we ultimately didn't end up with a fully unmedicated birth due to special circumstances we felt empowered to ask the right questions and make informed choices. While our birth didn't go as planned, we both feel positive about our experience and that has a lot to do with Seattle Hypno birthing. In addition, Tracy is just wonderful. When I look back at my birth I see my birth team, a team of incredible women who supported and empowered me. And even though Tracy was not present at the birth, she was certainly an essential part of the team as our birth instructor. We enjoyed the classes and found the hypno exercises very useful. The exercises are not just useful for the birth but I used them to help me sleep and find comfort during the last weeks of the pregnancy and am using them all the time now to help me get to sleep immediately whenever I get a chance to sleep with a newborn. My husband uses them too! Tracy is a great instructor. We loved being led through the hypnosis scripts and such during each class by her calming voice and energy. She's funny and knowledgeable and the class is very well organized over the 6 weeks. We also had a couple classes with Kira and those were great too! I didn't realize how important this class was until I went into labor. While things took unexpected turns during delivery, I was at peace the entire time and feel positively about my experience because of the hypnobiething techniques. It was an absolute game changer for me and I will undoubtedly use the techniques I learned in this class for the rest of my life.
