Need a new battery for your Mac? There's a shop for that. I began a new job with a Christian publisher in November 2019, working from home as their graphic designer. I'm also a media producer, video editor and hobbyist musician, putting my MacBook Pro through the ringer nearly 24/7. An aging machine, I needed to replace my battery again after noticing rather dramatic swelling under the trackpad over the course of a few days. I bought a battery online in 2016 while living in Baton Rouge, LA, only for the Genius Bar to tell me that my computer was 'vintage' and that they wouldn't be able to do the replacement. So I took it to a repair shop and after a day or so, they replaced it fine and dandy. I planned to do the same thing this time around here in the Houston area, but something told me to seek an Apple-specific store in this large city as to avoid battery costs *and* inflated labor. Enter: Experimax Klein. Dan and the rest of the team took great care of my machine, installing one of the batteries they had in stock while I roamed the store. They're wall-to-wall with iMacs, MacBooks, MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, iPhones and a litany of accessories, all for the most reasonable of prices. In need of a newer machine, I was tempted to put down on one of the four 15" machines they had on display...but the budget doesn't allow it yet. For all intent and purposes, my Mac got a much-deserved spa treatment; within 30 minutes, the team swapped the batteries, blew out the dust and attached new feet underneath the unibody--the latter two were complimentary. The grand total: less than $120. I was about to spend that much ordering a battery online! It's one thing to have people who *know* Apple working on your machine, but it's another thing to A) have a knowledgeable team of people who will work on an older machine, and B) be able to walk in and get service, without having to deal with apps, appointments, crowds and red tape... So upon writing this, I just finished one of a series of edits for my entertainment broadcast in Baton Rouge. My machine is revitalized, my wallet is happy and I can't wait to return to Dan, Nestor and the crew at Experimax Klein for my new computer next year. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR COMPUTER THERE!!! We took our computer to get the screen replaced. The only thing wrong with it was the cracked screen. Everything else worked just fine. We were told that once the part came in, we could drop off our computer, and it would be ready the same day. We had to call them on a Wednesday to see if the part had arrived after they told us it would be in on a Tuesday. We dropped the computer off on Wednesday and were told it would be done later that day. That was far from the truth. They called us later that day to say that they couldn't get the screen to work and they would continue to work on the problem. We called them the next day to find out what was happening with our computer and they said they ordered another screen because they thought that one was faulty and the part would not be to them for several days. Once the part came in, they called to tell us that they still couldn't get it to project. They wanted to charge us more money to diagnose the problem. We told them absolutely not. We told them to put the original screen back on and that we were coming to pick it up in a few hours. They then said that they couldn't do it that day because they had other tickets to do. REALLY?!?!?! Are we not a ticket for them to complete? They had our computer for a week after we were promised "same-day" service. We don't know what they did to it when they had it, but they messed it up so badly that we had to get a new computer. With the exception of calling us to tell us the computer wasn't working and that they wanted more money to diagnose, we had to call them to get updates even after being told us they would call us back. I was very pleased with the Experimax Klein. They did the work with excellence. I had my iPhone cracked screen replaced. They answered all of my questions and they were very helpful. They suggested that I have my battery tested to see if it should be replaced since the cost is much less of doing it while the screen is off. read more

I came here because my MacBook's trackpad and keyboard stopped working. I had this issue last year and Experimac quickly fixed my computer at a much lower cost than other shops' projected prices. When I came into the shop again last week, they diagnosed and fixed the problem within a couple of hours. I expected to pay the same price I did last year for my repair (over $100). However I was charged much, much less this time around despite my repair warranty expiring. The employees were professional and very accommodating. This crew is extremely knowledgeable, passionate about their work and very helpful in resolving issues with Macs PC's and other devices. I called Apple about an issue with my iMac recently and they were worthless and gave me little hope of ever getting my issue resolved. I called Experimax, they invited me to stop by and I left my iMac with them. They had it fixed before I got home ! It is running faster than before with all issues resolved. STOP GOING TO THE GENIUS BAR. THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST AROUND. I had accidentally spilled broth on my MacBook Air and the Genius Bar was going to charge me $755 to get it cleaned up and repaired. I stopped by Experimac and Nestor and the team brought it back to life for only $130!!! The customer service was awesome. Everyone was very friendly. They also sell Apple upgrades, accessories, and refurbished Apple products too. I would give these guys 10 stars but I'm only allowed to give them 5. Took both my cracked iPad Air and my broken LED iPhone to get fixed at Experimax. They fixed it at a very reasonable price. iPhone was done in like 30 mins and iPad Air was done by the next day! From my personal experience a few times I've been going here for my Apple related issues, I'm satisfied with their service and professionalism. No waiting in line, no complicated paperwork, helpful, quick response and work, no hefty fee (for what I needed done). My knowledge isn't that broad when it comes to IT but they explained and answered all my questions for future references. Always keep in mind, IT work can only do so much so you have to prepare yourself to get the unhappy news or pay the price (from 'broken beyond repare' to 'lost some or all of your data'). Be direct and honest to the staff so they can figure out the issue quickly and make sure, no matter what prepare a backup (it always help!). I accidentally dropped my iPad on a hard floor, which cracked the screen. I asked several shops for a quote. Experimax owner Matthew asked model number; promptly verified screen+lcd fused and quoted great price [much better than mfr]. Shop is clean, pleasant, efficient. They sell refurbished Macs and stand behind them. Also, I brought in an older Mac Pro to diagnose some issues. Cody is the best and such a nice guy. Dude knows his stuff. For at least six months my uni-body MacBook Pro had been duly warning me that its battery needed service, but the ominous bulging case, high surface temperatures, and associated sudden shutdowns meant I had to act. Apple refused to work on the machine, as it's nearly ten years old. I'd seen some Experimax advertisements and thought I'd give them a try. Toward the end of the business day, I walked into the Klein Experimax with my Mac and explained my issues to the very pleasant employees. They informed me that not only did they have a battery in stock for my machine, but if I could wait about 15 minutes, they would replace the battery on the spot. Well, yeah -- do that! Sure enough, in about 15 minutes, my trusty Mac came out of the shop no longer looking pregnant and with a brand-new battery installed! After a few check-outs, I was on my way. Further, my wallet was not lightened in the manner that Apple service would have lightened it, had they worked on it. In other words, the cost was very fair -- far less than I would have expected, especially considering the speed of the repair. Now I'm home, typing this review on my old friend ... who is now cool to the touch, no fans screaming, and no crashing from heat. The new battery has been under charge for hours, and I still feel no heat whatsoever. I'm a happy camper, my Mac is happy, and Experimax has made a new customer. I'll be back for certain. So, I was treated kindly, the staff clearly knew their business, parts were in stock, and the wait time couldn't have been better. I was very pleased with the experience from being advised on the service, costs, and difference between their screen and an apple screen along with details of the warranty. Had another fabulous experience with this store. They replaced a cracked monitor on my MacBook Pro and were very good at communicating when my specific part would come in and so forth. But then I ran into an issue shortly thereafter and they went to town on it to figure out how to fix it for me. It ended up being unrelated to the new screen but they jumped on it and couldn't have been nicer in how the handled communications on it. Believe it or not, the owner actually dropped it off at my house when driving home late at night after working on it. It is so nice to have a store like this located where it is so that we don't have to drive down to 1960 or over the Woodlands. I doubt you'd get service like this at too many places. read more

Got the home button fixed on an iPhone 5s so that I could give it to my dad. If I had known it was so easy and affordable to fix I probably would have held off on getting an iPhone 7. Totally avoid and would never return. Would highly recommend Patricia the co-owner of the Heights location. She followed up with a personal phone call even though the phone wasn't purchased from her. Yet, Chuck the owner who the phone was purchased from and exchanged from only sent a survey. Truly shows his true intentions. Again, avoid at all cost. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. From the time you step in to the shop to the time you step out, you are well taken care of (I also saw an employee help a customer to carry out their heavy iMac to their car) - I don't know how extensive their employee training is, but every single person that I've communicated with in fixing my Macbook Pro logo bar has been beyond pleasant and understanding. Experimac saved my bacon! The hard drive on my Macbook Pro was undiscoverable on start up and I wasn't able to troubleshoot the problem on my own. My life was on this laptop and, no, I didn't have a recent backup (Note to all: back up your hard drive, always! -- Lesson learned). I had never heard of Experimac before, but I was glad to learn they specialize in Apple products and were located nearby. Chuck Stuller, franchise owner-operator, was awesome. He and his staff recovered my hard drive and all my files. It turned out that the hard drive wasn't bad, but the SATA cable was. Best of all, the repair took only a matter of minutes and cost less than I could have imagined.
