this was our kitchen window blind. Nice huh? They tried to hide it by keeping it pulled up.

Just returned from here and I must say, what a DUMP. The pictures on the website are NOT current. Please beware. We rented a 2 bdrom suite. Phone didnt work, moldy shower curtain, window blinds were stapled together and some of them were even missing slats. The pool area was disgusting. The bathroom in there was filthy, feces sitting in the toilet for our entire stay, no toilet paper, trash from previous people never picked up. The pool deck/flooring, paint was peeling. Our bedrooms, ceiling fans were wobbling to the point where they could of fallen and hurt someone. The floors were never swept. Our feet were filthy right after we got out of a shower. No matching remotes for the bedroom TV's so needless to say, no remotes worked. Deck was unstable and unsafe. deck moved when on it. didnt trust it. We ran out of toilet paper one night because the housekeepers, who spoke NO ENGLISH mind you, left us nothing more than 1/4 roll for 4 people. HELLO in this country we use more than that for 4 people. Owner, foreign himself, which I have no issues with however, gave us excuses to why things were not nice and such. Not able to reach anyone for anything after 8pm. They answer and hang up the phone and do not even answer the door at the main office. All in all we will NOT be returning. I am filing a complaint with the BBB for faulty advertisement on his website too. SO much more to tell, not enough time to write.

I was planning a trip with a friend for my birthday in January, and then I decided why not just…read moretake advantage of our own gorgeous winter beachscapes right here in Maine? I'd been to the Inn before for happy hour and brunch so I was familiar with the main building and the fabulous view--so for this weekend I booked a Coveside Suite, which is a *huge* 2-bedroom setup with a living room and kitchen, balcony overlooking the snowy lawn and oceanfront, and a gigantic bathroom with both a shower and soaking tub. One bedroom has a king bed and the other two queens, which is perfect for a group of friends (it's not easy to find an arrangement like this). It's all very nicely designed (upscale beachy without being pretentious), and with freezing temperatures and a snowstorm on the way, the fireplace in the living room was the best. Pure hygge! I also recommend taking advantage of the spa, which we did on Saturday, both enjoying wonderful massages (hot rocks nearly had me drooling I was so relaxed). And even if it's cold, you can still tromp around the snow-covered lawn and down to the beach, or bundle up and have a cocktail outside on the deck by a fire pit, which a friend and I braved for awhile because we're weirdos. Large resorts like this can sometimes have food that feels institutional, but that's not the case here at the Sea Glass restaurant, which reliably turns out a nice range of tasty dishes inspired by Maine seafood and produce. I appreciate that there's some overlap between the breakfast/brunch and all-day menus; you can reserve in the restaurant (as we did for Saturday night), eat at the bar (it was hopping on Friday evening, since it's also a destination for locals), or order room service (bless the staff who came out in the cold for us for breakfast!). Everything I had was delicious, with the highlights being a roasted sunchoke appetizer and a hangar steak special with melty Parmesan fries. And I so appreciate the staff, all of whom were friendly and helpful! Service and communication were really top-notch overall, while also being super low-key and relaxed--you never feel the effort behind everything they do to keep things running seamlessly, which is clearly a lot, and that's an art. Pro tip: take advantage of winter rates (and there's an extra little discount for Maine residents, which is nice). Oh, and bring your pooch! The Inn is dog-friendly and there were many happy pups in their winter gear frolicking in the snow. While this was certainly a splurge for me it was one well worth it, and as a local, I'll definitely be back to do so again.

While I understand booking dates and availability, Laurie in the sales office was dismissive and unhelpful. As a catering sales manager in luxury hotels myself, I would never speak to a client in this manner bluntly saying "we are not booking in 2027" after I requested clarification "Thank you for your email. Do (yes, spelled incorrectly) to the size of our property we do not offer courtesy room blocks for events not at the Inn." "If we were to host an event such as a rehearsal dinner or welcome party, what would be the minimum required to host a courtesy block of that size?" "You could potentially book a rehearsal dinner or welcome party if the wedding for that weekend is not having a Friday event and does not have a block of rooms. Currently we are not booking into 2027 so I would not know if that would be available until closer to the date. Rooms are contracted, not courtesy blocks; therefore, there would be a 2-night minimum and a 90% attrition for unused rooms." "I'm a catering sales manager myself in hotels and not understanding what you're saying here. Can you please clarify what you mean by that first paragraph? I understand on the rooms side but if this date is too far out, I'm happy to go elsewhere as other hotels are booking these dates." "We are not booking into 2027 yet." That is the entire conversation. Very disappointing service for a place that wouldn't even offer the opportunity to book with when other similar hotels in the area have opened their books.

I am extremely disappointed in management of the Royal Anchor Resort in Old Orchard Beach, Maine…read more I had a reservation for two nights this past weekend (Aug 23 & 24), and had to make a one night deposit when making the reservation. Four days before our reservation, my daughter, who I was going with, was in a car accident so we were unable to go. When calling the hotel, I was told the policy was to cancel 10 days before the reservation for a refund. Management emailed me back stating their policy and refused to refund my deposit of $400. I even offered to send a copy of the accident report to prove it. In addition, they were able to rent my two nights immediately. So, they actually received a double payment of $800 for that one night (one from me and one from the new person), instead of doing the right thing of reimbursing my deposit. I feel that is simply stealing from their customers. They need to realize emergencies do come up within 10 days and some exceptions to the rule should be made by a reliable business. No matter how nice the place is (and I have stayed there in the past), this taints their reputation.

As of last week, there was paint on the floor, and it was undecorated and looked like they were in the middle of a move. The floor was not swept the entire time we were there and the pool had things floating in it and is in bad need of maintenance. The staff was friendly, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was clean but walls are water soaked and needs updating. It is such a beautiful property, the potential here is great. They need to fix it up. At that time, gentleman at desk said, "I forgot to have you sign the pet policy.". Upon reading, pet CANNOT be left unattended anywhere on hotel grounds or in your car. So, if your family wants to eat breakfast, use the pool, go out to dinner or beach, someone misses out as pet cannot be left alone. Ill re-state, I specifically asked these questions prior to placing reservation. Needless to say, it was a quick load things and kids up to drive home. Would not recommend.

We were literally on the beach. The house was built in the 1890s and it is beautiful! It does have updates to it since then but you don't lose a bit of the charm. We stayed in the old inn keepers room on the main floor, and it had its own bathroom. Our room had a window AC unit and it's own mini fridge as well as a ceiling fan. I do think it needs more outlets but we just used one in the bathroom. They provide you with bath towels, fresh beach towels everyday, washcloths, face towels and bath mats. Resa is the manager their and was absolutely wonderful. She cooked delicious breakfasts and is available if you need anything. One day we had avocado toast, scrambled eggs, fresh baked blueberry buckle, blueberry corn muffins, and chocolate oatmeal protein cookies. Various breads, bagels, and English muffins are available as well as butter, peanut butter, and jelly. There is always coffee, tea, and water and ice on hand. In addition to breakfast the house has a whole closet FULL of board games and activities to play if you find yourself inside for an afternoon storm. There is plenty of common areas to hang out and do a puzzle or play a game. The house also has plenty of beach items for you to use including beach chairs, umbrellas, footballs, volleyballs, sand toys, bikes, helmets, and various other things. You do need to park on the street, but there was ample parking and you don't really have to move your car that often because there is so much within walking distance. Overall I couldn't speak highly enough about our stay. Consider us new regulars.

So glad we did! We stayed in room #12 with a king size bed with plenty of cozy layers to keep us warm during the chilly early September nights. The whole house was beautifully clean, warm and welcoming. It's literally a stones throw from the beach and where we all sit once we are there, so we got out of walking the mile back to the other house our friends rent. Also, the breakfast served in the morning was delicious! Homemade bread, mini egg and ham burritos and plenty of coffee, tea and OJ. I was in heaven! Not to mention, the sub shop is across the street, so anything you need is within arms reach. We will most definitely be back again next year! Even though our room had a great view of the beach, we might try for a different room just to see what they're all like. Very happy with our stay! Resa, who was the lady in charge when we were there, is super nice!
