Everything went well. It's a beautiful motel, tastefully appointed, clean and the people could not be more friendly. The end units have breathtaking views, something you cannot get at the On The Beach Hotel next door because the owner occupies the end unit himself. The flowers are maintained well Into October and they are breathtaking. Pierre and his staff are wonderful and accommodate your every need. They also speech French and enjoy a huge Canadian clientele. The Edgewater has and will always welcome Canadian visitors with the respect and affection they also have over the years. Had an excellent room (#3) steps from the beach.Accommodations were very comfortable. Amenities were A+. Parking a little tight. Walking distance from great restaurants (Joseph's next store) and several bars with entertainment and the Pier. What else could you ask for !!!! read more

My friends and I have been here two summers in a row. The staff is wonderful at the desk. Very informative of place to go, lighthouses to visit , places to eat etc. we had a fabulous stay for the week. Walking steps to the beach. Walking to the town center is about five to ten minutes. Plenty of shopping, places to get food. The edgewater I have to highly recommend! The rooms are clean. The staff does a great job with the upkeep of the property, flowers, chairs and pool. They do have an Ice machine near the lobby. Don't wait til next summer to book your reservation, book early before March because they have no availability to late September. The room we had did have a fridge and we did ask for a toaster so we could make toast, bagels etc. read more

So I booked a room here because I wanted to be as close to the beach as possible and it honestly doesn't get any closer than this. The location is amazing, the beach is literally right outside your door and you will be in walking distance to most restaurants. Unfortunately the pier was closed when I went but it was also in walking in distance. The lady at the front desk (I think her name was Dee) she was SO nice and friendly, she made me feel very welcomed. The room we stayed in SEEMED clean and nice however, there was a random bandaid stuck to the bed, that really grossed me out. It made me wonder if the room just appeared clean on the surface but wasn't actually really cleaned. In this time of COVID that's a big deal to me. Besides that, I didn't mind staying here but I probably wouldn't be returning and I docked off 2 stars for that cause that's nasty. read more

I stayed at the edgewater one night on March 2nd. We only used the room to sleep in so we didn't have to find a ride home from the Brunswick after drinking all night. I just received an email from them claiming the room smelled of cigarette smoke and that they're charging my card $75??? Really funny to me considering me and my friend have never smoke a single cigarette in our entire lives. So my advice to you is to not stay here because they're obviously money hungry during the off season. read more

One of the few inns/motels open in Portland South ME due to COVID and the fall season. But we were quite impressed with our 2-day stay. The office staff was quite friendly and helpful, and the restaurant recommendations were on the money. The coffee was excellent and plentiful. The motel is somewhat older, but it has been very well maintained and updated, with comfy beds, great plumbing, etc. In all, a very pleasant stay, and significantly better than our next motel. read more

Amtrak and freight trains run by this hotel all day and night. Train rattles the hotel and shakes the bed and whistle blows repeatedly waking you up. Sign for hotel next door was broken and flapping in the wind making a loud clanking sound. People next to us had a toddler that was woken by the train at 3 AM and never went back to sleep. Walls at this motel are very thin and she kept us up the rest of the night running around, yelling and whining. You can hear everything going in around you. Very poor insulation. Heat also drops significantly in the middle of the night. Certainly won't return and do not recommend. read more

Just a few steps from the beach this hotel is perfect for a getaway. Very clean rooms decorated in white and blue with cute beach-themed decor. Beds are comfortable and sheets are fresh. The hotel staff is friendly and happy to help. Complimentary coffee is a nice touch especially during morning check out. Spacious deck, roomy swimming pool, chairs outside each room - just add to the comfort. This is our second year staying here and most likely we will come back again. Two minor downsides: 1. wi-fi that has no bandwidth, and given spotty cellular service, internet access is either extremely slow or not happening; 2. There isn't a spot or a clothe line to dry bathing suits and wet towels. These things remain wet throughout the whole stay. read more

We were pleasantly surprised at this motel. The staff was wonderful from the time of booking to our departure. The room was very clean. The location is great as there is a short boardwalk to the beach and the section of the beach that guests used is much less crowded than the public sections. Easy to spread out. The pool was heated and clean. There is a deck on top of the office where guests can sit outside and relax. Because of COVID, there is only housekeeping every three days and only 10 people in the pool at a time (30 mins) but that didn't seem to be an issue. The only thing that was tough for us is that we were in a first floor room that faced the beach (very quiet). No place to hang towels. Bring a drying rack with you. There were no shelves or drawers in our bathroom so we had to get creative. Overall, would definitely stay there again. read more

When we got there my husband told them it was our anniversary that week and they gave us a good bottle of champagne with two glasses to take home and they give returning guests a bottle as well. House keeping was very good! Comfy beds, flat screen tv, large shower with good pressure (we had an issue one night with hot water but it was resolved by early morning). The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because all the lights flickered after being on for a short time, especially the ones above the bathroom mirror, but not a huge deal. Also every so often we would smell what smelt like toilet water and weren't sure if it was the hotel or the restaurant next door or the ocean, but still not a huge enough deal to complain about. Otherwise I would highly recommend this hotel. The pool could have been a little warmer.* as we went in early June and the breeze from the ocean was cool. read more

This is the second time I have visited Old Orchard Beach but the first I have stayed in The Edgewater and I will definitely come back. The room was decorated in a beach theme and was very clean and roomy. The Edgewater is located by the beach. So just a few steps and your toes will be submerged in sand. We stayed at the double bed on the top level and had an amazing view of the ocean. The pool, a heated pool, was a great way to relax after the beach or even at night as it remains open until 9pm. The staff is very attentive and they are not stingy with bath towels. Family friendly. read more

This is the sixth in a series of reviews related to "Joni and Reid's Impromptu Maine Beach Vacation." To see the trip from the beginning, go to the review for the Norseman Resort in Ogunquit, ME. Upon arriving at Old Orchard Beach, we started checking out hotels. Most had vacancies, but we wanted one facing the ocean with easy access to the beach. We checked out the Brunswick, where we had stayed before, but they lack air conditioning, and the temperature was well over 90 degrees. We happened upon the Edgewater, which is nicely located in the middle of the beach (a very short walk over the dunes) in a quiet section of the beach. The hotel is very nice and the people who run it are lovely. They also have a nice outdoor pool. The only reason this did not earn five stars is that the clientele seems to be a bit older (mostly regulars) or families, and it was a little too placid for our tastes. But if you want a quiet vacation right near one of Maine's nicest beaches, this is a great place for you. This was a quaint little hotel, definitely had a mom and pop feel. The employees were very nice and helpful and were knowledgable about the area. The room was nice and the beds were comfortable. My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon in April. I cannot say enough nice things about The Edgewater. We were originally given a room on the second floor (which was so nice!), but I actually broke my leg about 8 weeks before and I wasn't sure I could make it up and down the steps on crutches for 10 days. They were so accommodating! Not only were we immediately moved to the bottom floor, but we were also upgraded to a suite at no additional cost. The hotel is so nice and has been recently updated. The rooms were clean and had new furniture. We really loved staying there. A few other reviewers mentioned the train. There are train tracks about 1/2 a block away from the road, but they're passenger trains and they go by so fast. We hardly noticed them and they didn't interrupt our sleep at all. We came during the off season, so the town wasn't very busy and a lot of places were closed. That didn't matter though, we found plenty to do (especially with Portland so close) and we really enjoyed having the hotel practically to ourselves most of the trip. We'd definitely stay here again and we were so happy with the service and staff. read more

My mom and I had a very enjoyable stay at The Edgewater last month. The hotel was so cute, adorably decorated, and very comfortable. It's walkable to the beach and I hear the pool is nice and heated (It was still too cold for us Southerners to take a dip when we were there). The rooms are a little on the small size, but I had no problem with that. Also, there's no coffee in the room, but they serve coffee in the lobby beginning at 7. Stayed here during a visit to the beach to race in the Rev 3 Maine Half Ironman. We loved it. The location is perfect if you're racing. The swim start is just a few paces up the beach from the hotel, so I walked down to the pier to set up my stuff in transition, then had plenty of time to drop stuff off in the room and make it over to the swim start for a warm up in the water. The room was large and clean and had a great view of the ocean (room 20). We decided to stay until Monday, and the staff were very helpful with moving us into an available room. Will definitely book room 20 again the next time we return to the Beach. Thanks to the wonderful staff and owner for making our stay so enjoyable. read more

Very clean rooms. Nice decor. Beautiful location to gorgeous beach. Staff is friendly and always seemed to be cleaning up/maintaining outdoor area. Decent pool. I am paranoid about cleanliness, and it was satisfactory. Rooms seemed quiet, despite Amtrak coming through at all hours blowing horn. Beds were comfy. I recommend ear plugs if you stay this close to old orchard beach. Loved the free hot coffee in the office. Nice touch. I would return to this motel if we were in the area again. You won't get anything like this for the very inexpensive, off season price! We scheduled an off season weekend and took a chance. Immaculate room, comfy beds and pillows, plenty of hot water, coffee at the desk in the morning, and a lovely beach. The staff were very friendly. Definitely coming back! read more

Very nice place ive been here since November 2014 and plan to stay threw may 2015. Staff is very helpful and pleasant i would stay again.

My family and I have been staying at this location for over 5 years. The owners and staff are always lovely and so accommodating. The rooms have never disappointed. Always clean and comfortable. Each year they update something - this year was the mattresses, a few years ago it was the televisions. The hotel is located right on the water, so the parking lot leads up to sand! The only thing that could make this place better is if there were more lounge seating on the poolside. There's maybe 3 or 4 chairs and they're always occupied. Overall, great family place to stay. We will continue to hold our annual vacations with the Edgewater. read more

We loved this place. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. We had a beautiful oceanfront room and there was also a jacuzzi in the room that I enjoyed every night. The next time we visit Old Orchard Beach we will definitely be staying here, no questions. read more
