Our game master, Melanie, was so nice and upbeat and seemed genuinely excited for us when we escaped without using any clues. I also saw her managing the front area with walk-in's really well (the mall setup has got to be stressful for that!). The Witch themed room was right at my personal max level of scary/spooky. It seems like most of the other rooms had a spook factor to it; I'd love to see some that are more mystery, adventure, or heist themed. The room that we did (Principal's Office) wasn't correctly set up. We ended up solving a 60 minute room in under 30... But only because key puzzles were solved purely on accident. Random magnets popped doors open prematurely, and cards weren't erased properly after previous users ( you could still see the writing from the last team). We could have overlooked some of this as flukes... But Amber, the "gamemaster" was patronizing and unhelpful. She wouldn't even take the time to explain how the puzzles should have worked. Instead, she claimed she had to get the room set up for the next group, and didn't have time to explain things to us... With 30 minutes still left on the clock! When you're spending the kind of money you are on an experience like this, the least one should expect is courteous, helpful staff, and a game room that works Save your time and your money. Go someplace else. (Only giving the place one star because I can't post anything otherwise).

We had a girls night doing this escape room and had a blast! We had the hardest room and managed to…read moreescape! Our host/helper was fabulous in helping us along the way with clues. There were parts where we struggled and figured it out, and some parts where we were utterly lost and our host swooped in to save the day. Towards the end as we ran out of time, but were so close to completing the last clue, he helped point us in the right direction. The part of the last clue required lining up two things to find the hidden message, however, the items were worn and didn't like up properly to he helped move us along. Cool puzzles that make you think outside the box, and it feels like such an accomplishment as you solve them.

We did the Secret Vault which had a 35% passing rate. It was challenging and fun and even though we didn't escape, they did allow us 15 extra minutes with 3 more clues and we got out in 7 minutes. It was only 1 room, but it was so well thought out and some stuff that was super crazy hard, that I would have never thought of. I liked how clean everything was and well kept. I've been through some escape rooms out of the country and so I thought that this room was comparable in the level of difficulty for some parts, but for sure the puzzles were done very well. I've told a lot of my friends about this place, so I can't wait to go back with them. There's no red herrings, and the game master did very well with guiding us during the clues and was very thorough with the rules. Can't wait to go back.

You already have numerous different rules and a required liability form, so I don't see a problem with a screwdriver, something you can find in your house. TLDR: I have done 15+ rooms and this place ranks the worst I've ever done. Being OGs to the escape room scene, opening in 2014, Escape Expert should have a proven formula down. At least that is what I bet on. Oh, how wrong I was. Boasting the "largest" escape room in Texas is true. Just trying to find the bathroom in this place is hard. HOWEVER, it really is just a pitiful excuse to be expensive. Their "third generation escape room" is just a fancy phrase to say an escape room with no manual locks. I hated their escape room, Holding Cell. Their orientation room takes away from the experience. I didn't pay $30 to sit and get lectured like children for 10 minutes on about 15 different rules I could be liable for if I break. When you enter an escape room, you should feel transported into a movie or another dimension. Their room had no atmosphere. It felt like a room disguised as a cell, instead of being a cell. It just felt fake. Where was the toilet or sink the prisoner was suppose to use? Why the hell was there a blackboard on the wall? The blackboard should be a clue. The room just felt clunky. It didn't have a flow and the progression clues were poorly displayed. Progression should feel rewarding. Here, it just felt trivial and insulting. (We got the puzzle! What did we get? Oh, just a laminated card).The clues were written on LAMINATED CARDS. Like come on, be more creative. Have a scewdrive as a reward and something. On the backs, they had the location of the clues for the staff to reset the room. It was a poor attempt at an technologically advanced escape room. This is a prime example of quality over quantity. Save your money and take it to the Perfect Escape, The Escape Game, or even Red Door! Anywhere but here.

I do want to say the initial check in was good. I had a bag I should have taken home and they held it safe up front for me. Very appreciated. The rough... The location boasts "42" mini escape rooms, most are 2-4 connected rooms with a task to get to the next room. With one task to get through and no real objective or clues, it can be frustrating figuring it out. The rooms are broken or worn out. 4 initial rooms could not be entered, holding back access to 2-3 more rooms each. Anything that required touching showed its age with wear. Some rooms required crawling with worn out floors that hurt to crawl on. The place is connected to a trampoline park, we had random young kids running around Labyrinth area unsupervised. The potential.... We were able to get through 2 areas completely! The obstacle course to get through a volcano was fun! The Asylum area was great as well. But so many rooms we were just clueless as to the clues. I am not the world's best escape room person, but I've completed dozens. Hard tasks are good, nearly impossible to figure out tasks are rough, racially with broken down interactions. When this place was new, I bet it was great. For $60 total we were entertained for two hours well enough, but I can't really recommend this place with all the broken and worn down interactions. Here are a few things we ran into, the rooms are well worn, the physical rooms we were able to try definitely showed it in not the great way. The rooms you have to crawl thru the cushion and the ground are worn down to nothing which as an adult it makes for a rough time. We had 3 kids and 4 adults; I think the adults enjoyed it as much as the kids. It FAR exceeded our expectations in what "laser tag" was.
