Removed, so I'm putting my review back…read more Travis, Quan and Bruce The guys arrived 15 mins early and helped me pack 3 floors of "living" into a 26 foot truck. They also stopped on the way at a furniture store and picked up additional furniture. Drove to my new location and unloaded everything in less than 2 hours. Travis is an absolute professional and strategic in placing items in the truck to maximize usage. Bruce is a joy and charming as charming can be. Quan is an absolute gentleman and wrapped everything meticulously. These guys are awesome. I could not have made this move without them.

My wife and I chose Safe & Sound Moving Company for our move from Chapel Hill, North Carolina to…read moreAtlanta, Georgia. We chose Safe & Sound because of the company's stellar Yelp reviews and its average Yelp rating when compared to other moving companies in the Triangle. Safe & Sound seemed like a safe bet and I'm happy to report that it was. We moved from a two-bedroom apartment to a two-bedroom condo. We added on: (1) a stop to drop off furniture at my parents' house in High Point, North Carolina and (2) haul-away of some items in Atlanta. The total cost for everything was $4,075, broken down as follows: * 2 movers + equipment, loading in Chapel Hill (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * 2 movers + equipment, loading in Chapel Hill (0.5 hour, additional time required) - $77.50 * 2 movers + equipment, unloading in High Point (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * 2 movers + equipment, unloading in Atlanta (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * Deposit for travel and truck - $50 * Haul-away (junk removal) of double mattress, double box spring, bed frame, one standard dining room chair, and torchiere floor lamp - $125 * Remainder of balance for travel - $2,875 * Additional cost/payment - $182.50 * Tip for mover 1 - $150 * Tip for mover 2 - $150 A $485 total deposit was due upfront to secure the reservation. We asked for the movers to show up at a specific date and time. We paid the $485 total deposit 26 days in advance with a credit card. The rest ($3,590) was paid via multiple Zelle transactions after we arrived in Atlanta. In hindsight, I think I may have overpaid $50 because the $50 deposit for the travel and truck was included in our $485 total deposit. I believe that same $50 was included in the remainder of the balance for travel. In other words, I think the $2,875 above should have been $2,825, but I could be wrong. Also, in my stress and exhaustion from the move, I forgot what the additional cost/payment of $182.50 was for. It made sense at the time, when I signed the form ("Uniform Household Goods Bill of Lading - 35 Miles or Less") after the move was complete. I was just happy it was over and that my wife, the movers, and I all made it safely to Atlanta in three separate vehicles on moving day. I do think all of the costs could have been communicated more clearly in writing for our understanding. Money aside, as for the move itself, it generally went well. We scheduled a 9:00-10:00am arrival window for the movers. This was on a Wednesday. We were packed and ready to go at 9am. Unfortunately, the movers were delayed and showed up around 10:45am. They arrived in a 26-foot white Penske truck. It's my understanding they rented it that morning. While it was overkill for the amount of stuff we had, I believe it was the best available truck at the time. It looked new. The movers were Hamza (lead) and Sula. They were great. Very kind and polite. These were young guys in their early 20s. They both wore Safe & Sound T-shirts. They worked hard, quickly and carefully wrapping and protecting our queen mattress and furniture with stretch wrap and blankets, and moving all sorts of heavy boxes and miscellaneous items (e.g., my awkward and heavy standing desk system, computer monitor, office chair mat, torchiere floor lamp, vacuum cleaner) from our third-floor apartment with no elevator on a hot summer day. At the loading site, we treated them to cold Gatorades. It took them about 1.5 hours to do the load in Chapel Hill. We left Chapel Hill around roughly 12:30pm. Hamza ran the show. We made it clear which items were to be dropped off first in High Point and which items were going all the way to Atlanta. No issues there. My parents were very happy with Hamza and Sula's work at the unload in High Point. The two made it to Atlanta around 10:00pm and the unload in Atlanta took less than an hour. Long day. My wife and I made it to Atlanta earlier - around 7:30pm. Unlike Hamza and Sula, we did not stop in High Point. We wanted to get to Atlanta before them so we could get the condo ready for the unload. It worked out. Hamza told me they were going to try and drive back to Raleigh/Cary that night! Only one of our items, a shoe rack, was damaged. All things considered, not a big deal so I didn't bring it up. I can remember three other moves I did with three other moving companies and one item was damaged in each move. It happens. For the haul-away, I only mentioned the mattress and box spring. I added on the other items when I saw them in Atlanta. They didn't charge me extra for that, which I appreciate and must mention here. I sent the tips directly and individually to Hamza and Sula for a job well done. As for scheduling and payment, my wife and I communicated with Jaber (a.k.a. Omar), the owner of Safe & Sound Moving Company. Jaber was on top of everything and quick to respond via Yelp messaging, text messaging, and phone calls. Thank you, Jaber, Hamza, and Sula!

If I could give zero stars, I would…read more Smart Move completely mishandled my move from start to finish. They showed up with the wrong size truck, which meant I was forced to move two car loads and two additional truckloads myself because their truck couldn't fit everything. That alone is unacceptable and completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, they showed up with TWO moving blankets. For an entire third-floor apartment move. It was shocking. How do you send a moving crew out that unprepared? Ryan and Steven, the actual movers, were nice and tried their best but they said they never send just two guys to do a third floor move. I was quoted for 2 1/2 hours, and somehow the job dragged out to 5 1/2 hours, leaving me with a bill that was nearly $700 MORE than what I was quoted and budgeted for. No clear explanation. No accountability. This was a third-floor apartment, and the person I booked with failed to write that down, so they only sent two movers. Completely unprepared for the amount of work involved. My family and friends worked harder than the actual moving crew did. We were carrying items and making extra trips while they moved at an unbelievably slow pace. It honestly felt like we were paying them while doing the majority of the work ourselves. When we reached out to the owner hoping for a fair resolution, he was not helpful at all. It took three days just to get a response, and their "solution" was to credit us for ONE hour of work. After all of that. So now I'm left with an extremely high bill that I never agreed to and never expected, for a move that was mismanaged from the very beginning. This was hands down the worst moving experience I have ever had, and I will never recommend this company to anyone. If you value your time, money, or sanity -- DO NOT USE SMART MOVE.

DO NOT HIRE SMART MOVE, LLC (BILLY CHARLES CAPPS III) !!!…read more I hired Smart Move, LLC. in May 2025. Paulina Martelo is who booked my appointment. She went above and beyond to get me on their schedule and spoke very highly of the moving crew they have. She said they amaze her (that is very disturbing considering my experience ). My items were dropped off and almost everything they touched were DAMAGED. 1) Mirror Sideboard - The frame and mirror are both cracked. This happened while they had possession of it on their truck. They were not going to tell me about the damage but when they delivered it but they forgot to remove some clamps attached, saying that they tried to "fix" it. 2) Italian leather king headboard - A hole is gashed into the headboard and scratched throughout. They did not even get the headboard into the bedroom it belongs in, instead it was left in the garage. 3) Dresser - Delivered with cracks and scratches. 4) Washing machine - A mover dropped the machine while carrying it to the truck and the frame cracked. 5) Sofa & Loveseat - A mover sliced the bottom open with box cutter while taking the plastic wrap off of it. 6) New House - They dented and scratched up the sheet rock in my new house (walls and wood staircase). I followed their process to complete and submit a claim form (to include pictures) before the deadline. When I tried to follow up with them, a worker named Pablo answered the phone and would not help me or let me speak to someone that would. He talked very hateful and yelled at me that I could not speak to the claims department or the manager/owner. I was charged a total of $2,092 for them to move my things within a 10 mile radius and they wrecked almost every item they touched. It took 4 movers, 8 hours, to move 1 king bed, 2 nightstands, 1 dresser, 2 leaning mirrors, 1 sideboard, 1 desk, 1 bookcase, 1 treadmill, 1 sofa, 1 loveseat, 1 washer, 1 dryer . They also charged my cc an additional $100 without authorization (after the move was completed and the movers left). I am currently working with The BBB & WRAL 5 On Your Side to dispute this company's actions. These people are a complete joke! They take your money and hide behind a computer/phone. Paulina should be embarrassed to represent Smart Move, LLC as an outstanding company. Do not be tricked by Smart Move, LLC (Billy Capps). smartmovellc@gmail.com
