There is a picnic area and some bathrooms but the bathrooms are very old. I remember coming to this park as a kid and being my kids as well.

The bridge has the best view. Best part is just walking around. It has over a mile of paved trails. This means you won't get muddy even walking in the woods. Family friendly and many opportunities for education and entertainment. They have a safety town. It's along the bike path near the entrance. This features pretend buildings like the fire station and the police station. It seems good for the whole family. Kids can learn about safety. The rest of the park has great views of the creek and the woods.

The pathways are paved and therefore easy to walk. We didn't see any wildlife, but trees are abundant and the stream is pretty. There are several spots where you can sit on a bench and relax.

Peaceful, Beautiful, and Always Worth the Walk…read more Sheldon Marsh is one of those places that just hits every time, no matter the season. The paved trail makes it super easy for anyone to enjoy--perfect for a peaceful walk, birdwatching, or just soaking in some fresh air. It's quiet, full of wildlife, and there's always something new to catch your eye. One of my favorite parts is when the path opens up to the beach. You get this wide view of Lake Erie, and if you look out far enough, you'll spot the Cedar Point coasters in the distance. It's a cool little reminder of home--nature in front of you, thrill rides in the background. If you're up for a bit of a longer walk, you can follow the beach all the way down to the Point Retreat condos and back. It's a beautiful stretch along the water and gives you even more time to enjoy the lake breeze. And if you're a golf fan, the newly updated Sawmill Creek Golf Course runs right alongside the preserve. You might catch a few swings and even spot a bird or two between shots. Whether I'm home with family or just need a place to reset, Sheldon Marsh is always worth the visit. One of the best spots in Ohio, hands down.

Great playground!…read more This park is right on the water. There is a great playground area for kids with a zip line and multi story slide. Even a smaller sections of play equipment for younger kids. Lots of benches and picnic tables to watch the kids or have a meal. There is also beach access walking down some large rock stairs. The beach is a decent size with lots of flat rocks. Beware of all the dead fish. Not sure if they get cleaned up during certain parts of the year but on our visit there were a lot. Still a beautiful view!

The Public Comfort Station in Exchange Park is closed during the pandemic but is a great idea for…read moreany city. Essentially, this is a well-maintained public restroom located in Exchange Park. This is a full restroom with fully functioning toilets. If you're at the nearby beach, this is basically the closest restroom (until the Main Street Beach comfort station finishes construction). It's not the gross public restroom you're probably thinking of. Dare I call this restroom...cute? The Comfort Station is the original Vermilion Police location dating back to 1912. It has an old-fashioned look to it, so if you pass it on the street, you probably won't immediately comprehend what it is. Exchange Park is a little gem in Vermilion, and the Comfort Station adds a nice necessity for those beaching, biking, etc. Its super clean and maintained well by the city. The animal area now has interactive exhibits. Lots for kids to learn about wildlife, water pollution, etc. they even have a history of ship building of Lorain with some fun exhibits on display. When I was in High School we use to climb over the fence and sneak into the pool...one time we captured a snapping turtle spray painted it green and let it go in the pool "Good times" this was before video surveillance LOL...As a child we came to the pool every day it was opened... I spent most of my afternoons sitting in time out...once a trouble maker always a trouble maker! pretty sad the life guards raised us and babysat us every summer. There's gate and fence are safe. There's are amenities like a doggy fountain, benches, trash, bags. The only issue is when it has rained, the park is a mess. Water must not drain well and it becomes a swamp in the following days. I've lost a shoe in the mud before. And Winnie has lapped up muddy water puddles before. We've never had a problem with any other dogs or owners. Highly recommend!

I've had an opportunity to visit the Park several times in recent years, walking all the way through to the athletic fields and NRHS. The Park has many amenities. I especially appreciate the pond and the public gardens.
