My daughter and I went together, and it was such a relaxing and refreshing experience. We walked about a mile up to the hill and watched the moon come up, which honestly felt magical. There were lightning bugs all around us, almost like little fairies, and the whole setting felt peaceful and secluded. The group was small, which made it even nicer, and the park ranger leading the hike was so sweet and did a wonderful job. I wish I had gotten her name because she really made the experience feel welcoming and special. I loved the property, and we will definitely be back to hike there again. Such a beautiful park and such a memorable night.

Paddling trip My…read morehusband and I did a glow paddle one night. They need to be booked in advance since spots are limited but all seemed reasonably priced. They helped us get fitted with jackets and kayas. Offering singles and doubles. The lake was great to paddle on and much larger than it looks. We were able to see so many animals - bald eagle, heron, fish, bats, etc. Plus Lexie was a great guide!

There is a big kids and little kids jungle gym. This playground is very clean. Nice families around. Plenty of shaded tables and benches. We visited OH and stopped here to tire the kiddos.

Madison Park is where the rough kids who went to Emerson Middle School (Steve L.) hung out in the 90's. I saw Big Chuck and Little John play celebrity softball in the park. There is a decent community pool complete with a slide for thrill seekers. There is a lot of chatter around town about Gordon Square, North Collinwood, Ohio City and other neighborhoods getting hip. I hope that Birdtown in Lakewood can make the same transition. Madison Park serves as the anchor.

A paved walking path, big parking lots available and little ones along the path, clean restroom facilities, a large concession stand offering snacks and honey hut ice cream! There were plenty of picnic tables scattered around with families and friends having birthdays, graduation parties, etc. The group I was with rented out the tented area, which was a nice size and had some dedicated grills and trash for convenience. I didn't swim or use the beach/lake area but there were plenty of people out there swimming, kayaking, and fishing.

This location is beautiful. The folks that manage it are committed to returning it to it's original wild beauty. They are in the midst of a large project to remove all the invasive species and replant with everything native to the area. So far they have done a marvelous job. I can't even imagine the cost involved. They are taking donations if you want to help. There is a large marsh area you can walk through on raised walkways and see all the work going on. There is another very large wooded area with nicely marked and maintained trails you can stroll through and just enjoy the beauty of the natural habitat. The main lodge is a very nice facility with plenty of room for children to play and classrooms for education. I highly recommend you take a sunny day and visit the "Nature Center at Shaker Lakes". See for yourself. It's a worthwhile project.

This past weekend my boyfriend and I made the trip to the Brecksville Nature Center to feed…read morechickadees. It was honestly one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I grew up on a large piece of land and always loved watching the small creatures who lived near my house. I feed the animals who live in my backyard now, and I love watching various forms of wildlife frolic in my trees. I've always jokingly said that it would be cool to be able to feed birds from my hand (Cinderella style) but I never knew that would be actually possible. It's a pretty simple process. You go into the nature center, they give you sunflower seeds, and then you patiently and quietly wait with your hand outstretched and full of seeds. I was skeptical at first, but...the chickadees and other birds were quick to scope me out. They'd fly close enough to look at me, briefly make eye contact, and then swoop in for some food. They are so light! And beautiful! And amazingly brave, I think. I know I had a hand full of food, but...I'm a heck of a lot bigger than a chickadee. I had about a dozen birds land on me while I was outside. (and I wasn't out there very long - it was coooollllldd) The highlight was having a bird land on my head! This is a super fun (and free) wintertime thing to do. Chickadee feeding is held from late December through February (weather permitting). It's such a cool experience and totally worth the drive, no matter where you live. (and it's especially fun for the little ones! they can warm up inside by the fire afterwards)

We decided to go last minute and it was past 2 pm when we tried to reserve tickets (it wouldn't let us). We decided to call the park website and the employee helping me was able to put my name down for the last few slots at 3 pm. That was very kind of them. You are required to wear gloves when you go down on the toboggan (probably to protect your fingers from the cold since you are required to grip ropes). There are a number of stairs you have to climb to get to the top. There were a good amount of people there and we probably needed to wait 15 minutes each time to ride, but the line got shorter as it got closer to closing time. They didn't allow people to enter the line past 4:45 pm since it closes at 5 pm. It was $15 per person but so worth it! What a fun and unique experience. I got to go with my 66 year old dad, my 33 year old sister, and my 18 year old brother as the toboggan sits up to 4. With this many big people on, it made the toboggan go pretty fast! There's a speedometer that calculates your speed for you. It's a little scary but thrilling! Follow the employee's instructions. We even got to race each other because there are 2 chutes. Our respective employees each tried to give our team boosts (my employee hurried to let us out first while the other employee pushed my brother and dad a bit for them to catch up). Viaduct park Short…read morehike to a beautiful waterfall. The park is kind of hidden. Only about a half mile hike round trip. Great for kids or history buffs. The trail has a lot of informative signs about mills and the water use along the trail. Cool to see parts of it still intact.

If you bike or horseback ride its a beautiful park. If walking on the trails marked for walking…read morethey do not keep those trails cleaned. You have to climb over downed trees or make a new trails. I have reported this and no response from management. God forbids a little branch comes on the bike trail they are on it. If you are older and or have a pet you may have a hard time. There was an employee Mike who has retired always wanted to know if any issues. He was always on it. Now you say something to an employee and it goes no where
