The paved trail makes it super easy for anyone to enjoy--perfect for a peaceful walk, birdwatching, or just soaking in some fresh air. It's quiet, full of wildlife, and there's always something new to catch your eye. One of my favorite parts is when the path opens up to the beach. You get this wide view of Lake Erie, and if you look out far enough, you'll spot the Cedar Point coasters in the distance. It's a cool little reminder of home--nature in front of you, thrill rides in the background. If you're up for a bit of a longer walk, you can follow the beach all the way down to the Point Retreat condos and back. It's a beautiful stretch along the water and gives you even more time to enjoy the lake breeze. And if you're a golf fan, the newly updated Sawmill Creek Golf Course runs right alongside the preserve. You might catch a few swings and even spot a bird or two between shots. Whether I'm home with family or just need a place to reset, Sheldon Marsh is always worth the visit. One of the best spots in Ohio, hands down.

If you've ever driven past an old rock quarry and wanted an opportunity to go exploring inside, this is the place to do it! I thought it was very exciting. Young and old can have fun here. The trails are very easy and it's a simple network. One trail circles the quarry and one trail easily slopes into the quarry. Once on the floor of the quarry, you can pretty much roam around wherever the quarry gods take you. This visit was an "add-on" to a trip to Cedar Point and the Sandusky area. On my next visit, I will be sure to include this park again... for sure.

It's obvious the staff there care very much and take pride in what they're sharing with travelers. I've never been in any other caves, so I can't compare it to anything else, but I know Seneca doesn't have the flashier features of other caves. It's still very unique and well-worth the trip if you're in the area. I visited Seneca Caverns with my cousin, on our way back to Chicago from Cedar Point. We originally meant to go to Cleveland, but decided against it because of a big event there. I was so pleasantly surprised after our trip to Seneca Caverns! It's truly a unique natural attraction. They offer tours every 20 minutes to go down into caves that were caused by rock splitting; there's a river that runs below it as well. In the tour, they take you down 200 feet below the surface, and it's so neat they take you right through the basement of the tour center! You're even able to touch or taste water from a real natural spring. Our guide, Alaina, was very personable and knowledgeable. There were only 5 of us in our group, which was good because the spaces are very small. Beware, however, that it can be considered strenuous because the stairs are "natural," and of varying levels. Exiting requires some climbing; I'm relatively healthy and was slightly short of breath on the way out. It's really only good for those who are ambulatory and comfortable with confined, dim spaces. The caverns are lit with electricity, but there are some tight squeezes. I would not recommend it for children, unless they're old enough to climb up and down stairs or other things easily and they're not afraid of the dark. Older children, perhaps 6 and up, I think would be able to handle it. All in all, it was refreshing to visit something different that wasn't a chain after spending a weekend in Cedar Point and eating fast food. I really enjoyed it.

Family friendly and many opportunities for education and entertainment. They have a safety town. It's along the bike path near the entrance. This features pretend buildings like the fire station and the police station. It seems good for the whole family. Kids can learn about safety. The rest of the park has great views of the creek and the woods.

I don't think this is a great park for picnics because upon entry, I only saw one picnic table with benches so other people will have to sit on the ground if the table is occupied. Sitting on the ground is fine but it may not be convenient for some people. This park is a good option for walking or taking a mini hike with friends and family. There is a rocky area with some water that is cool to see as it is a mini waterfall. Bring sturdy shoes and a water bottle. Overall, I had fun at David Fortier River Park.
