I used this provider for two years. I ordered three cords of of wood this year. Delivery was made…read moreand I was told it may be short. After stacking I measured twice and discovered the load was short 3/4 of a cord. We brought this to their attention and were told to stop complaining and not to use their services again. Another small load was delivered but it ended up still being short 1/4 cord. We requested they come and measure the stacks just to be sure the quantity was correct. We never heard from them again. Disappointed!

I have enjoyed dealing with Mike. I believe I've done well with his pricing on the hardwood I need…read moreto keep my home warm in Colorado Springs. I use a fireplace insert and I depend on it. I don't like to use pine. Cresote, short burns, etc. The amounts of wood look very fair if not generous. They are a mix and that's what I worked out for at least the 1st cord. I will say the 2nd was to be maple and it's a mix to a degree but it seems good. I won't know for sure until I really get to burning it up frankly. It was to be rounds mostly which burn slower in a stove/insert and I have mostly split but it's okay. I am happy and the rounds I do have should go for a while. If 2 cords in Springs proper in my home don't get me through the season then I will know something is off and will report back but again- Mike's a good guy. I would give 5 and I am on the fence with it. I want to but there were just a couple odd things that I'll leave off here as they are not appropriate for here. I will say that Mike is a good guy to deal with. I enjoyed conversing with him. He threw some deals compared to what he said he would normally charge. Everything was a mix to a degree but the portions are nice. I will say you can tell the difference between the true properly seasoned hardwood like say oak versus hit or miss gatherings from the companies that take trees down that he gets some supplies from. THEY ALMOST ALL DO. Else you will pay a ton of money. You are in a city that is founded on planted trees and was mostly semi-arid once upon a time. As a business owner I have to be honest. I doubt I would ever do better than what Mike gave me but again I do need to dig into it and use it. He seems to know the species well and most of it is in good shape. I think the only way you can possibly get better quality is to pay through the nose to a company like a nursery company that will charge about $500 for a cord of good hardwood. Mike's look solid and he was nice to deal with. I thank him for his help and I hope to work with him again next season. Do be careful of the craigslist offerings and realize that pine is a quick burning wood. I will say that I've been told by ALL now that cottonwood was a hardwood and it's simply not. I have a ton if it and it's similar to aspen. I wish we could get that recognized. Don't get a mixed cord with cotton in it unless you are looking for softwood. Albeit, it's better than much pine for heating. UPDATE- his hardwood plus the wood I still had barely made it through a warm winter and I used it sparingly. It burned to fast. A bit misleading as when I see "soft wood" I think pine and not useless wood as he more or less stated to me recently. His prices are about the same as the business I know nearby and are used by the owners of some of the fireplace companies. I WILL SAY I DON'T THINK HE WILL BURN YOU LIKE SOME CAN. YOU DO HAVE TO BE CAREFUL OUT THERE! He was nice to me but... I am glad he helped me stack but complained his back hurt about 7 minutes in (I was a new customer ordering a good bit and I am disabled with multiple failed surgeries now). I had to do half the stacking it seemed. Fine but the wood moisture content seemed off and things burnt up quick even dampening down a lot. Tons of creosote (dampening and the wood quality). Some had nails in it. I wanted rounds to be honest but I got the "assortment" of leftovers from jobs. He does seem to know the cuts of wood but I'd rather buy properly seasoned and picked wood. Just seemed like that 2 cords of hardwood plus the wood I still hand on hand should have lasted better all things considered.
