Terrible dishonest service people. It's bad enough that Ford has a lousy product but my son has had to have two engines replaced in the last 2 and 1/2 years on two different Fords and now he's had it up there for a while. 3 weeks in fact waiting because they broke the motor mounts broke and it came down and it broke an axle blah blah blah and they refuse to fix it. Even though two mechanics have said that the damage was due to the fact that it was installed improperly and that's terrible and this poor kid it's going to cost him all this money. He's had to pay for rental cars at over $300 so far due to the fact that they don't or won't give him a loaner and it's coming out of his pocket which he doesn't have is eating out of a little paycheck. Started off fine looking for used vehicle. Set up schedule and canceled to reschedule 45minutes before. My sons truck broke down on way, and I am 1 hour and 45 minutes away. I said I try and make it maybe later or on Tuesday if truck is fixed, I'd let them know or reschedule on following Monday. I sent text on Saturday at 4:10pm no one got back to me on confirmation till 8:13am on Monday. I didn't confirm because it was to late to leave to meet at 9:30 so I didn't confirm. I have multiple texts proving they have lied to me multiple times and became rude to me saying I missed three appts. I have the proof on my phone. Also, they told me they put a new transmission after I noticed it on Carfax which they didn't tell me about. They also said it was new with a warranty no problem. I called back and they said rebuilt with no warranty. They lied to me several times and became horribly rude on phone to me. I have a hard enough time trying to schedule anything around all my disabilities as a disabled veteran. It's sad that it's all about the sale and money and to lie to get a sale. I bought a vehicle cash from this dealer, Ewald Oconomowoc. worst decision ever, had the car less than a month and the car started running funny the sunroof wouldn't open so I returned the car back to service. They tinkled with the sunroof, got it to work for about a week told me it was in my head that the car was literally vibrating at the stoplight. They told me this was normal what car vibrates? after a week Sunroof doesn't close, car vibrating badly now. after complaining they gave me an option to trade the car back in for something on their lot. As far as I can see they never sell cars because week went by two weeks went by and no options was on their lot. they have brand new cards if you be in debt, but I wanted to purchase a used car nothing whatsoever on their lot let alone when I apply for financing. They told me my credit score was 662. I went to a regular bank and my credit score was 150 points more than what they told me. I'm assuming they told me my credit score was that so they can charge higher Interest on a loan? sounds illegal. I complained once again still ignored basically Ewald robbed me and my family. Bought a 2019 Ford Fusion, took the car home and sat in the driveway over night. Check engine light came on the next morning, I took the car back to the dealer to have it looked at, its the emissions issues with the car. I was told that I maybe charged for the repairs that they never disclosed in the contract. that is called fraud. Failing to tell the customer that there was issues with the emissions. Both sales and service were horrible experiences. Service: Wife took her Fiesta she got from Ewald in because check engine light came on. She had to return a second time because check engine light came back on. They replaced the fuel vapor recovery system. Third time, she went to another Ford dealer, who finally got the check engine light off. In addition, Ewald charged her almost $500 to replace the vapor recovery system. The other dealer told her it was covered by the 80,000 mile factory emissions warranty (she had just over 50,000 miles on the car at the time). We're still trying to get that money back. Sales: Went there after going to another Ford dealer to compare offers on an Escape. Basically admitted up front they couldn't match the other dealer's price (so much for lowest price guaranteed), then started slamming the other dealer, telling us how dissatisfied we would be if we bought from that other dealer. As it turns out, we did buy from the other dealer and we're very happy with them and instead very disappointed we bought the Fiesta from Ewald. read more

Bought a used truck from them less than 6 months ago. Fuel sensor went. They will not stand behind the vehicle they sold us even though we were told we had a 6 month warranty from them to cover anything that went bad in that time period. We told them about this problem right away and they said they didn't have the equipment to diagnose a Dodge. They finally set up an appointment with their Oconomowoc location to have it looked at and lo and behold they will not fix this faulty sensor. Horrible customer service. I will not recommend them ever and I will tell all of my friends and family about my experience and let them decide if they want to work with a company like them. Update - 10/22/2015 So they suddenly say that the truck part is still under warranty. There is a $100 deductable. We are dropping off the truck tonight. We purchased a used Ford F150 on 2/26/20 after our truck was totaled in an accident. At first the dealership seemed very honest and forthcoming. But less than 18 hours after we got the truck home, all the dash lights started flickering on and off even the warning lights. The local Ford dealer in Madison (where we had serviced our last truck) suggested it was not safe to drive and had us tow it to them at our expense. They thought it was a loose wire and cleaned the plugs. When it happened again 2 days later, we took it back in and they diagnosed as needing a "cluster". Clusters are known electrical problems with older Ford trucks. Ewald agreed to fix this if we brought it to them and later rescinded the offer as the sale was "as is". They had disclosed a "flickering" of dash lights before the sale, but this goes far beyond a flickering. This is a safety issue as we would never be able to know if our warning lights were coming on for a real problem or not. Or could the truck be undriveable and leave us stranded due to the cluster going out? VERY dissatisfied customers now! we are stuck with about $1000 in repair costs, 2 times for diagnostics, and a tow, now a starter! UPDATE: We are very thankful that Ewald Management reached out to us and worked out a compromise solution. It was not 100% of our costs but we appreciate their time and attention. read more

My experience with Ewald of Hartford was very disappointing after the purchase of my new 2016 Focus. While the sales experience was fine and I walked away happy, my feeling about Ewald now is that they only cared about the sale. After having my car for about a month, I noticed gouges out of one of the tire rims that were up against the tire which can only be seen if the car is parked in a very specific way. I now know after talking to a trusted mechanic that the gouges would have been done when the tire was put on the rim when proper precautions are not taken. I took the car into Ewald a bit later and I did not get much help from the service team. It seemed that I was bothering them because according to them, Ford would not do anything about it anyway. I still had them send it in, but they didn't seem willing to put forth much effort to work with me to convince Ford that the damage was there when I picked up the car. There is no scenario where the damage could have been caused by me because of the proximity to the tire and not even a scratch on the tire, but my sales person (Joe) informed me that Ford said it had to be something I did and they would not fix it. I explained that if that is the case, Ewald should do the right thing and replace it as they did not see the damage either while they were prepping the car for me to pick up (which was on a snowy day and in the back of the shop which was very dark). I was then told that they wouldn't, but I could get it fixed at their cost. I said that was not acceptable and to remove me from any contact list as I would no longer be doing any business with Ewald. I was then told to wait to see if he could "take another run at the general manager." When I was contacted back, I was told that they were willing to fix it, but only if I first submit positive reviews on 3 different sites. I was to let him know when that was done so they could then fix the rim. Obviously, I was quite taken aback at this type of business practice and since I didn't feel comfortable writing untruthful reviews, I attempted to reach out to the general manager, Jay Ewald, to discuss this as I felt that I must have misunderstood the tactic and wanted to give him the opportunity to clear it up. I called and left two messages for Jay over the span of a week and never received a call back. I now regret ever dealing with Ewald in the purchase of my new car and have since removed any Ewald reference from it as I now choose to not have any contact with them. Buyer beware!!!! If I could give less than one star I would. This has been the worst car buying experience I have ever had. We were mis lead from the start, had problems with paperwork that was missing, pricing on all the extras- told they costed a few dollars a month in reality they were 2,000.00! Was totally ripped off on my trade in gave me 1,500.00 turned around had it originally listed for almost 7000.00! They totally lied about paying off the balance of my old car. Was told they cut the check to the bank on the 27th but I didn't even look at my new car until the 30th. Then lied and said they sent it on the 2nd, the bank never even got a call for pay off information. The finance guy then called and said they just sent cut the check. By this time the payment for my old car had already been taking out of my account. When we called the sales guys he said he would call us by noon the next day low and behold it was his day off! Had made up our mind to buy a 2013 F150 but the poor and dishonest treatment, from both the sales and finance folks, lead us to pull the plug before going through with a deal. Up side is that we ended up getting a new 2016 F150 from another dealer (was a way better value and experience). Also found out that the Ford tonneau cover on the F150 from Ewald (which the salesman told me was a $1000+ add on) actually costs less than $500 installed new. read more

Stopped in today (5/2/16) for service on my F-250 Power Stroke, wanted some fluids flushed and a recall taken care of. Asked a few questions about prices and felt like I was bothering them. I had the same issue about a year ago so I did the work myself. I am going on a fishing trip and I travel for work a lot so I figured let Ewald do the work, right? WRONG!
