Upon moving in, I had window shutters installed in my bedroom. Nine years later, I really needed new windows. One unnamed company wanted to charge $200 more than Ewald . This price included $100 to go above three elevator floors. My question was, if you put all your material in the elevator, what's the difference if you go to the second floor or the eighth floor? The more difficult part is getting whatever you need into the elevator. The stipulation was that anything above the third floor was an additional $100, which I refused to pay. Hornak Exteriors recommended Ewald Interiors and all I had to do was take a picture of my window and forward it to them for a quote, which was so convenient. No nonsense about what floor you're on. The person sent to do the job was great, his name is Josh. Josh uninstalled the shutters and after the window installation, he reinstalled the shutters. He was always on time, worked in a timely and clean manner and the shutters look great. Anything needed or any questions, Levi responded immediately. Everyone there was great. We had wanted our dining room, living room, and two-story stairwell painted to match the rest of our lower level. This project included painting some slatted sliding doors, which house our furnace and hot water heater. We also wanted to get 4-inch plantation shutters installed on all of our downstairs windows and in our master bedroom. We also had a few miscellaneous things that the owner said they could help with, including fixing some molding that our previous floor/door installers had left off/too short. The work was scheduled quickly. The painters were so friendly and nice. My elderly dog got sick and they called me at work and let him outside to go potty. The were pretty good with what they painted, but I soon noticed after they left that there was paint splattered on random things--fine sprays of paint on the side of a cabinet, drips on my winter coat hanging in the laundry room, the floors, hardware of the slatted doors, drips between the slats, etc. The molding they had made to fix a previous contractor's boo-boo not only looked awkward, it also wasn't painted. I wish I had said it looked bad at the time he'd shown me before install, but I wasn't really sure how it was going to look after he'd put it in. I'm fairly sure the owner said they'd fix the other door with the same molding issue, but because it wasn't specified on their invoice, I didn't bother to say anything because after all, I wasn't happy with the other one. The shutter installer came a few weeks after the painters once the product arrived. He told me he realized only had received product for one window and the other product needed to be tracked down. Within a few days, it was found and we scheduled another installation date. He came and installed the rest. My husband was home and working and didn't realize that the dining room was missing the split at the 42" mark so we let in light without losing privacy. They came back out again to quickly adjust the shutters. Ewald Interiors came recommended on Facebook to us. Pricing was reasonable based on other quotes we'd received. The house looks better. I love my shutters. I've cleaned up the paint I can. I continue to hate the molding. Would anyone else really notice? Probably not. Would I use Ewald Interiors again? Also, probably not. read more

January 8, 2026 I was looking for quality draperies and some suggestions for window coverings. Through Wheaton Moms on FB, I saw a recommendation for Ewald Interiors. They were exactly what I needed. Spoke with the office manager who was able to set up an appointment in a short time. Tom Ewald came to the house, and discussed what I had in mind. He made suggestions based on my style of decorating and the age of my home. The selection of samples was wonderful and I found one I liked. He also suggested a shutter for one window to provide more privacy, and measured everything precisely suggesting the hardware that would blend nicely with the metal already in use. The order arrived in a timely manner and everything was installed before Christmas. The quality is excellent, the installer was a perfectionist and did not leave one spec of dust, and I am so happy with my purchase. I splurged a little, but they had selections for many price ranges. Tom met with my husband and I quickly and was able to show us options right away for bay window treatments. He made some recommendations that made sense for our space and within a short period of time, he returned to install our blinds. Tom Ewald came to me through a recommendation on a website saying he was a Hunter Douglas qualified professional. He was never recommended by Hunter Douglas. They do not know him. Tom said at a later date that he does not represent Hunter Douglas. A little late. He did a botch job on them after being paid in full. Said he would come back and make good . He was to to clean wood blinds , Soji screens and Hunter Douglas shades. He did a terrible job on cleaning the wood shades, and also had trouble with the Soji screens. He admitted he was not happy with the way they turned out. Came back once to clean them better, which did not happen.Could not stay. Had a tooth ache. I had called him several times to either refund my money , or return and complete the job. He said he would be here on a Sat. morning. A no show. Wrote later and said he was taking a much needed vacation. I have called, emailed and text more times than I can count without a reply or money to be repaid. He is not a qualified handyman ,takes your money, walks out on the job, and done. I would certainly not recommend anyone that wants a job done well, or finished, to ever call on Tom Ewald. read more
