    Gulf fish

Cute place inside and was seated quickly. The espresso martini was pretty basic not the best I've ever had but still pretty good. The spaghetti was overly salty so I would recommend something different from the menu. The gulf fish was super good, best thing we ordered. Pretty small menu with not a lot of choices but good food and ambiance overall.

We tried this place on a whim because it is two blocks from the Marigny Opera House, where we'd just attended a performance - walked in at 9pm and were seated quickly without a reservation. Every item we tried was outstanding! Anchovy toast, scallops, shrimp, grilled fish. Sopped up every last drop of each delicious sauce with the delicious fresh bread they brought to the table. Friendly, prompt service. Fantastic, warm atmosphere. Absolutely will be back. A totally unexpected, absolutely delicious surprise! A bit loud for us oldsters, but improved as a few tables cleared out.

Guys I don't even know what to say... genuinely perfect from the second you walk in. The ambiance is chic asf and the service was so friendly. Ordered one of the best margaritas of my life and then enjoyed such yummy and unique food. Please don't miss the yellowtail and the oyster mushrooms..... So happy with my experience I hope to come back one million times before I die.

A beautiful and elegant space, and warm service. It seems the menu changes often. Portion sizes were overall fair, but like everything these days, it's expensive. The chocolate budino was the best thing we ate.

Upholstered ceiling! (Dampens the noise, and as an architect, I kinda love this)

Alrighty. As wonderfully embarrassing as this is, this is a review for the second night in a row we ate here. It was our last night in our weeklong trip to NOLA, and we'd had an amazing dinner the night before at Evviva. We had reservations for this night at another restaurant - we like to try new things, and visit old favorites. But everyone around the table agreed anything else would be a letdown. So we canceled our other reservations. Came back. Had many of the same things. And we're incredibly happy to have done so. This is not our normal m.o.: this place is special. We had small plates. Split them for the table. We're all pescatarian. We're all cocktail hounds (we didn't split those). Our two favorite cocktails: Juliet and Romeo. Bright, well balanced, refreshing, but with some punch. Steel Pulse - boozy, but with some depth and nuance (They've also got a nice dry Lambrusco) Small plates: what can I say? Just eat them. I hate anchovies. They had an anchovy toast I led the charge to order the second night. The shrimp is cooked so that it's smoky, spicy, and falling apart in your mouth in a good way. The eggplant is to die for (get the bread in the brown paper bag. You don't want to leave any). There are more things. I'd say more, but I need to get back to it. Not to pay these folks off: it's incredibly reasonably priced for the quality of the food and the service. Very lovely folks. Nice space. Get over there. (and thank you Evviva for a lovely two evenings.)

On a previous trip we had seen an evening show at Snug Harbor and wanted to experience something else. We had read good things about the Spotted Cat and their sets run all afternoon. We were a little confused about price because one of our guidebooks said there is no cover but you're supposed to order drinks. There was a doorman who charged us something like $5 each (still cheap!) and we ordered beer and a N/A drink at the bar and listened to a great jazz group playing old-time jazz. Interior is tiny and you're pretty close to the performers. We were standing at first but eventually found some seats as people left. There is even a back courtyard if you want to be outside, although I don't know if you can hear the music or not. We bought a CD from the band and enjoyed it when we got back home. All in all, a great New Orleans experience.

While the Sazerac wasn't invented here, this is arguably its most iconic home, a place where New Orleans cocktail history comes to life. I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. The murals, the history, and the energy of the room give it a sense of occasion that you do not get at most bars. We had such a great time sitting at the bar that my wife and I each finished two and a half Sazeracs, which tells you everything you need to know.

The ambiance is amazing, plus velvet, emerald and sapphire tone, glitzy, and feels like a good photo op. The bar and cocktail menu looked expansive. However, I was going to be hopping on a meeting, so I could not partake, unfortunately. A group got this impressive tower of espresso martini and everyone seemed to be enjoying their drinks! I wanted that New Orleans seafood but had late lunch, so I opted for just the crispy gulf shrimp on cheesy grits. I really wished I can hungrier because the dish ended up being very heavy. The shrimp were nice and crispy. The charred Brussels sprouts gave me the false sense that this was a healthy dish because I was getting my veggie intake. The bacon jam was sweet and went well with the Brussels sprouts. I loved the combination of the cheesy grits and the Crystal hot sauce. It was the perfect amount of both and some how led me to understand why Americans put hot sauce on their Mac n cheese and some other cheesy dishes after 30 years of not really understanding the attraction to that combo. I got the marinated olives to go so I could have a little snack later. They were just stuff I feel I could get in a jar... not really sure if I could justify the price. I think this is a fine place if you're looking for a photogenic night out drinking with a group of friends. Could be really cute for brunch!
