If I could give 10 stars, I would. We brought our dog Ollie into EVS Urgent Care of Northbrook just 30 minutes before they closed, worried and stressed. From the moment we walked in, Dr. Rosen and the entire team were incredibly calm, kind, and patient -- not just with us, but with Ollie, who is usually very anxious in clinical settings. Instead of rushing through or offering a quick patch-up due to the late hour, they took their time, explained all of our options clearly, and walked us through each possibility with care. They performed full diagnostics and had a pneumonia diagnosis in under an hour -- something that took us over eight hours to get at a full emergency hospital last year. What really got me? Ollie, our sweet but nervous boy, chose to sit next to the staff and get pets rather than sit with us. That's how comfortable they made him feel. We left with answers, a solid treatment plan, and immense gratitude. They even stayed late to make sure every test was run and every question answered. We felt heard, supported, and cared for in a way that's rare in urgent care settings. I cannot recommend this team enough. They're absolute angels.

My dog, Lucy, hadn't been feeling well and needed to be seen. I was in the middle of trying to transition her to a different vet (the old one wasn't great) and other vets in the area were completely booked. I ended up seeing that they had this urgent care inside the PetsMart so I thought to give it a try. Compared to an ER visit at pet hospitals in the area at $225, this urgent care only charged $115. Because of her current condition, they had to do a complete blood panel and when that came back with extremely elevated levels, they only recommended other tests that they felt was needed in order to treat her symptoms. The vet that she went to before, didn't really address the issue and it seemed like they were too quick to recommend tests left and right without actually looking at her past medical history. Coming to EVS was a night and day difference and I wished we went here sooner. Our tech was super nice and she brought us bottled water while we waited for them to run their tests. Both tech and doc were very patient with our questions, thorough at explaining everything and even went over charges before administering services so we knew what to expect beforehand. Having worked at a hospital setting in the past, they say that when patients and family members receive bad news, they go into a state of shock where they are listening to what the doctor is saying but it's not actually sinking in and processing for them to comprehend the entire scope of the situation. Having actually experienced that state of shock first-hand, I am so grateful that it was with such a great care team and they were patient with all of my questions and they even called the next day to follow up on how Lucy was doing. I would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone that needs urgent care for their fur baby.

The Critical Care Team is phenomenal, including Doctors Vietti, Montaque and Sharpe and their amazing group of nurses Barb, Jamie, Megan, Brittney, Brit and others. We brought our dog in while having significant respiratory distress. They tried to get him to breathe on his own by using High-Flow Oxygen, with no success, and had to put him on a Ventilator. Our dog was able to breathe in oxygen but was unable to exhale the carbon dioxide as it was getting trapped in his lungs. After numerous tests, they determined that he had Eosinophilic Bronchopneumopathy (EBP), a respiratory condition that was attacking his lungs, causing inflammation and an excessive amount of secretion build-up. Because of the inflammation, the secretion build-up was partly blocking his airwaves, preventing him from being able to expel the CO2, which is very toxic and dangerous. Although they were familiar with the EBP, they never saw an instance in which it impacted a causing the airways to get blocked. Long story short they did an amazing job identifying a very unique situation and saving our dog's life. They provided great care during the week our dog was at VSC and communicated very well throughout the process. Not many dogs make it off a ventilator once they are put on one; we were one of the lucky ones. I would never go anywhere else if my dog was critically ill.

Last week we had a major scare and were transferred over to VSC from VEG, and upon our arrival they were already expecting us and were able to take our pup in and get her situated since she was in so much pain. Once we were in the room they walked us through best case scenario, and worst case scenario. To admit, they require the deposit for the minimum amount. The staff made sure to explain and present our options after evaluating the severity of our girl. We were able to walk out knowing what will and could happen. Before we left we were taken to the back to see our girl, and were offered visiting hours and the ability to call and check in with updates at anytime. The nurses were so nice and treated our girl so well that when it came time for us to say good night or bye for now she walked off without hesitation knowing they were going to take care of her. We've been in and out for a few different reasons since this trying to figure out the right dosing to help our girl heal, and to keep her comfortable and healthy. We were able to call in the middle of the it with questions and if we should bring her in or if there was something we could do at home to keep her comfortable. Each time we came in we were welcomed, headed and taken care of. We worked with a few different doctors over the course of the last week and were really glad to see how much attention and care they put into each pet and our girl. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. You never know what could happen until it does. They will talk through all the possibilities and give you your choices. You'll never have to feel silly about deciding what's best for you and your family.

Dr.Wilson and his surgery team were absolutely wonderful. Everyone was kind, patient, and made sure my dog was comfortable every step of the way. You can tell they really love their jobs. It was very reasonable priced from the consultation, wound care, and follow up appointments; the estimate was as precise as they could have gotten. All that being said, the front desk can come off a little short or rushed, especially if you're not used to their process or what they expect you to know. Once you get passed the learning stage (different than a doctors office for humans) they truly are kind people. Where things fell short for me was with the oncology department. The experience felt impersonal, and the final bill didn't match the original estimated quote despite my dog having the basic surgery with no extra add ins or assistance. Labs were drawn without asking us (charged triple our local vet would have charged) and we were charged for an X-ray that wasn't done, which came across as money-driven, intentional or not. We did get compensated for the X-ray. Overall, I'd definitely recommend BluePearl of Northbrook for emergencies and for the General Surgery department, Dr. Wilson and his team are amazing! I'd look elsewhere for oncology care based on our experience.

I went in for a tumor removal consultation, but the vet who saw my dog was unhelpful and simply repeated information I had already received from my regular veterinarian. Before even discussing treatment options, they insisted on $5,400 worth of tests -- and then informed me that the vet doesn't perform surgery anyway. I ended up paying $240 just to receive an estimate for tests, with no actual help provided. To make matters worse, my dog was bleeding from a skin tag he had scratched. When I asked if they could cauterize or treat it to stop the bleeding, the assistant told me, "We don't do that here," and the vet just applied gauze and pressure -- the same basic care I had already done at home. By the time I got to my car, my dog was bleeding again. I had to take him to another hospital that actually cared enough to help. Sadly, this place showed no compassion or urgency when my pet needed it most.

After about 3.5 hours, we decided to go back to the store and find out what's going on. It turns out that while all that time passed, the salon employee (AC) completed the bath and brush, but not the nails. In fact, the staff in the salon couldn't get ahold of AC to find out what was going on/where he was. This really concerned me...was our dog OK? Did something happen while we were gone? The nail clip and grind ended up being completed by a female employee who was very nice. We talked to the assistant store manager, Steve, and he was really nice to deal with and was extremely apologetic about the whole ordeal. We boarded our healthy but elderly dog for a week at this facility. We boarded her here before without incident and always informed the handlers about her chronic conditions, but not life threatening conditions (bronchitis, arthritis and partial deafness). Before the week was over and on Christmas day (the day before we were due to pick her up) we received a text message (because why would anyone pick up the phone these days) informing us that our dog had diarrhea and had literally soiled all over herself. We asked whether we could pick her up right away in response to their text but were told that we should wait a couple of hours. After we brought her home our dog vomited several large rubber bands and bile and started shaking uncontrollably, followed by more diarrhea. We promptly took her to the emergency vet and spent hours there and many hundreds of dollars in testing, including an ultrasound the following morning, to treat her dehydration and to make sure that our dog had expelled all of the foreign matter from her system. We informed the Dog Stop of these facts and received a "poor dog" text in response, claiming that they were "investigating the matter."
