Like most reviewers on here I bought the Groupon. I am always looking for deals to be frugal. No matter what this will be the spa I come to for my massages from now on, Cara is amazing. She is a good soul and not only gives a good physical massage but she eliminates bad energy too. I have recommended this spa to multiple people and they have a referral discount too! I like the fact that they use the Hungarian Organic facial line called Eminence. fabulous products, and they smell good enough to eat. I LOVE this spa! read more

This isn't a spot for manicures... I splurged for their vegan product manicure and didn't feel like it was anything special. The technician wasn't educated on the products and how they were different from other options. There wasn't much time spent on hand massage and it wasn't a relaxing experience overall. On a whim I bought the refresh package to use on a day off. This place is up the street from the apartment and I've been curious since we moved in. My first impression was of urban chic and calm. The dark wood and ambience were welcoming, as were the two ladies manning the front desk. I arrived 5 minutes early and my aesthetician was waiting for me so we started straight away. I was a little disappointed I was not offered any refreshment before beginning my treatments but that's a small thing. Facial was with Carie (sp.?) And it was amazing. Relaxing, but definitely cleansing. I loved every second of it. She asked about my skin before she started and walked me through the various stages and products (including a chocolate mask that smelled like frosting). My skin looked and felt am at when she was done. Next she gave me a robe and a bag for my things ( nice touch) and walked me to my massage. Only downside:had to walk through the waiting room where dudes were waiting in the robe. I'm sure they didn't care but I felt a little self conscious. Massage was a solid OK. Not bad but not great. In fairness it was a short one as it was part of the package but still. She didn't ask about problem areas or things I wanted to focus on. She did good work on my shoulder blades but I honestly was not happy with the way she scratched my scalp (!) For what felt like a long time. I give it a 6/10. Onto the manicure. So this is a really mixed review. I had told them ahead of time I had gel polish on so that was ok. What I wasn't told was they would upcharge me for the polish removal. Look I would have said yes and paid it but I didn't like only being told at the end of the service. The manicure itself was actually lovely but it was supposed to be a ginger manicure as part of the package. It definitely wasn't. And the space where they do the manicure was terrible - cluttered, covered in all sorts of supplies. Definitely not conducive to a relaxing or pampering experience. Kristie the manicurist was pleasant and chatty but forgot to ask me what color I wanted at the start. In the end though I loved how the manicure looks - so am trying to balance reviewing the experience with the end product. All in all this felt like a small urban spa that's a few steps away from being an amazing retreat. Small things like refreshments, a neater workspace and a reconfigured waiting area would make a huge difference. The price point is excellent and I will definitely be back for facials. read more

I received the "Glow package" (massage, facial, mani/pedi) as a gift. Helen did an outstanding job with my massage and I purchased another massage session with her before I left. This was the first facial I've ever had. Still not sure if I enjoyed it... The woman who did mine seemed distracted and at one point was on her phone for a couple minutes during the middle of my facial. Also, I usually get a gel manicure and they do not provide this service, so I will most likely go get a manicure elsewhere next time. Pedicure was just okay. I agree with the other reviews that it is not relaxing with the nail area in the front of the waiting area of the spa. Overall, I look forward to my next massage with Helen but will not go for the other services again. read more

I never really take the time to review spas, but I just finished a 90 minute hot stone massage with Chioma and wanted to tell others about my experience. It was my first time at this spa, but I had heard good things. The décoré/ambiance is nice and really pretty. They served fresh fruit water while you wait, which was an added bonus. I've had massages all over the world in a wide range of spas and I will say that my massage with Chioma today was the best massage I have ever had. She was not only calming, very nice and professional, but gave the perfect amount of pressure and a really great style of massage. I will definitely be returning and asking for her! read more

One of my favorite things about Evolve Wellness is the easy to use and accurate online booking system. Whenever I need a facial or relaxation time I log on to their website, select a service, a time, and (if you want) a person. It is just as easy to cancel an appointment too. I love the facials, Kristie is the person I use. She gives a relaxing hand massage during the facial, which is a nice bonus. Just make sure to bring a cash tip. read more

I needed a massage after a long week. I got exactly what I needed. I did the 60 minute relaxation massage with Matt and it was wonderful. He worked my shoulders and upper back (where I hold all my tension) and had great pressure. The spa was cute and well appointed. The only thing is I wish there was a Shower and place to really relax afterwards - but that seems like something they don't do in Pittsburgh. I love this place! They are always so kind, and always have delicious water awaiting your arrival/departure. I've experienced several of their LMTs, and they are all outstanding. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Brittany, who really listened to me while I discussed my problem areas. She took extra time and care to focus on the sources of my back pain. I enjoyed my massage. My therapist was sensitive to my individual requests as far as area of focus and level of pressure. The space was very relaxing and smelled extraordinary. Honestly if the scent or aroma therapy products were for sale I would buy it in a second. I felt that they worked harder than other massage locations I've visited (mostly big box chains) to provide a relaxing setting. The space was dark with candles and very low lighting, soft voices were encouraged and a noise machine was also used with music. Also I loved the warming table. It definitely made my week! read more

I got a gift card to evolve so I went in to get a facial. What a great experience! One of the best and most relaxing facials I have ever had- I even fell asleep briefly! When I first arrived I was not sure what to expect because the spa is in an old Shadyside house complete with creaky floors and funny drapes. But I was completely blown away! Olga is super knowledgeable and helpful. She suggested I add dermablading to my facial, which really helped brighten my skin. She is also certified to do extractions so I definitely recommend Olga for facials. I will be going back for sure. PS- the entire place smells amazing. read more

She was able to fit me in the same day and was very gracious on the phone. Upon arriving to Evolve, I received a warm and prompt reception from Gabrielle. Darius is one of the most expert massage therapists I have encountered----and I have received massages around the world. The massage left me feeling a million times better than when I first arrived. He is knowledgeable and very clearly explains his technique and treatment suggestions. Following the massage I was welcomed into the relaxation room where the dim lights and comfortable reclining chaise lounges were a perfect accompaniment to my treatment. Keri hit it out of the park! She is a Pro. Great touch.. the peels and masques felt great. The products are all organic.. as in completely. I ended up purchasing a few. The vibe at Evolve is calm and soothing. Geniveve the manager is lovely. I was well taken care of the moment I arrived. The Piéce de Résistance is my skin is still glowing! Short version: worst massage ever. Longer version... Things started off with them 20 minutes behind schedule. Not a big deal for me, other than the thumb twirling, but this was not a good first impression. Went upstairs to a room to get started. I was asked what kind of massage I wanted, to which I said deep pressure. I was asked if there was an area I needed extra time on. Okay, we're in the zone here. I said back and shoulders. Then it started. The relaxing music was fine, but was interrupted by incoming phone calls to the device. No biggie...it's not like I need to reset the Enya to get my relax on...but the masseuse tried to keep massaging while messing with her phone. Weak. Actually, what was really weak was the level of pressure. Even though it was supposed to be deeper pressure, it was more like when TSA pats you down...but with lube. I will say that the hot stones were nice, but the primary thing I was looking for was to work out some knots. That did NOT happen. And the stones kept falling all over the place. *rattle* *clang* A highlight was the 45-second foot rub, which did feel good. *crash* (another stone falling) Overall I left feeling tight and disappointed. read more

Robyn of Evolve displayed excellent customer service and looked into my complaints. I went back for another massage and Nora was fabulous. And yes, it was a good one hour and over.
