Jason had quoted a quick turnaround - 2 weeks for a logo re-design and a total of 6 weeks for the web site to go live. 1/31/2023 - received a quote from Jason at Voco Design 2/1/2023 - I accepted the quote and paid my 50% deposit 2/9/2023 - logo re-design delivered and accepted 3/8/2023 - web site mock ups delivered and accepted 4/12/2023 - invoiced for remaining 50% and paid it The following steps is when everything broke down Between May and June of 2023, either myself or Jason was out of town/country, so we could not finalize. 8/2/2023 - Jason requested access to my web hosting server to start uploading. I have not seen any changes to my web site at all. Since then, I have not been able to get a commitment from Jason or his team. Jason has sent me messages saying he was out of town, medical emergencies, etc which I can totally understand and was willing to wait for him. I had called his office and Tom had responded to look into it, but I have now been ignored by Tom as well. As of 2/1/2024 (one year later!!), I have sent an email to Jason and Tom to just close the project. They can refund me some portion of my 100% paid job, but they have not responded. I have changed the password to my web hosting as a precaution. I am willing to call this a loss and mark it as a lesson learned working with design companies. Kevin is technically savvy and suggested starting with an scan of the interior as a way of quickly getting accurate drawings of the status quo. His own drawings are clean and fast and well-labeled and done when he said they'd be done. If he doesn't have an answer to a question, he tells you when he will and follows through. He's at ease dealing with tradespeople and can explain obscure building code details or calm down overwhelmed owners. But his real superpower is his likability. People just like to make Kevin happy, and we are all fortunate that he's not chosen a life of crime but instead simply seeks a mere over-the-counter approval for this humble building permit. Kevin is still a relatively young architect. He has plenty of experience with residential and commercial remodels, but you're not yet paying for the name recognition and the imposing gilded statuary of downtown tiny monster HQ. Despite the circumstances, Kevin hit the ground running, and we started construction within weeks. Kevin's work is meticulous and detailed. He provided high-fidelity 3D renders at each iteration in the design, allowing us to easily visualize the project, and hone in on exactly the style that we wanted. He answered emails and phone calls promptly and patiently, helped us with seemingly endless decisions about fixtures, tiles, etc., and shepherded the project at every step to ensure that it would be a success, including facilitating meetings of everyone involved to ensure that no details slipped through the cracks. In addition to his work on the bathroom, Kevin jumped in to help with a bunch of other details that we needed help with in the course of the larger construction project. He designed a new set of built-in shelves, created precise drawings of moldings from our upstairs neighbor's unit after having accidentally thrown away the samples from our unit, and provided expert advice about replacing the exterior stairs on our building. In short, he was always there to help us with whatever we needed. Today, the bathroom is a daily reminder of Kevin's attention to detail.
