I've given my blood, sweat and tears to win 3 consecutive Yelpies, so it's with a heavy heart that I must announce my retirement from competitive Yelp reviewing. I know. This is more shocking than Jordan going to play baseball or Barry Sanders retiring in the midst of his prime. Streets are already calling me Johnny "What If" Novo, but I know it's time. I had to look in the mirror and have that God-honest conversation with myself that elite athletes seemingly always put off until it's too late. "Do you still love it enough to compete at the highest level? Is the hunger still there to wake up at 5am to write 3 reviews before the workday?" The answer, my dear reader, is no. I've always told myself I would leave the game before I cheat the game. Sticking around just to feel the love from the fans, shake hands, kiss babies, and rack up sponsorship deals would be cheating the game that I fell so deeply in love with as a little kid. While I feel my pen is better than ever, I don't have the time, bandwidth, or energy to keep up with the generational greats like Marianne W and Phil H, or the young hungry lions coming up looking to make a name for themselves. The blessing of being well fed has cursed me to not be hungry. I'd love to sit here and thank Yelp, but they've done next to nothing for me even though I promoted their platform relentlessly for the past 3 years. So why did I do it? For pure love of the dying genre that is the written word. I will be focusing more on short stories and a novel. I have a few ideas that light a fire in me that I can no longer ignore. This is one Yelp idea that bears good fruit. I consider each of my Yelp friends to be in the category of Super Yelpers! Each one has received many commendations! I selected two that I could readily find Paige C. of Springdale, AR. and Diele K of Apache Junction AZ. I'm of the opinion that when Yelpers add photos and other things that get a lot of attention and exposure to a business, etc. they should be rewarded. It's very good that Yelp singles out contributions that make a big difference. As I mentioned earlier, each of my Yelp friends have received a ton of recognitions from Yelp and the two pictures I added were the easiest to find quickly.

Yelp! You would not understand, because............ "It's a Yelp thing!" Here's to the best of times and the worst of times. Thank you Dickens, now in our times we Yelp it out. No applauding needed! Let's begin with the Yelp. We write reviews and post images of all the things that we do and how we live and feel about life and our environment and surroundings! Wow, we live in the cyber age and moment! Nice, here's to being stalked and loved at the same time. The reviews and content that we enjoy and share reach all sorts of people and businesses to make it better and a beacon of light and hope. Do you see the happy . It's involved! And it's not for all it's remember! A Yelp thing! As many people have seen and heard "ain't nothing like a yelp adventure!" Here we go . We can maybe get reviews of the month or something in your city choices or not. You can attend special events. And we have an awards ceremony most of the time. I'm an elite helper of yelp to make it the best for all of us. I'm here in Vegas and it's the best for now! And it's the best because we make it that way. Our community manager and all her staff make it amazing . Kayla you're the best CM! Let's get our yelp on and all the best of times in yelp to come. Here we go let's get our Yelp on . Beyond yelp many friendships and new experiences have occurred. New ties of family have come and been made all from Yelp.

I'm the 49th most prolific Yelp Elite of 2025! Wow! I am honored. Congrats to Guy, May and Gabe, who are Yelp Friends. Well done folks!!!

Dear Yelp, why did you take away my All Star status in March 2026? What is your rationale? I look at other Yelpers who are not as engaged with Yelp as me and yet they still have All Star status. Your criteria for Yelp honors seems extremely random. I've been Elite for 10 years and was the 49th prolific Yelper in all of 2025. Yes, I am butt hurt. Both butt hurt and confused. How can I keep my Yelp cred when the bar is so convoluted and random? Signed, A hurt Yelper.

It's good until Yelpers Yelp Yelpers. Quit whining- it's a site of criticisms. Of others. Yelp on Yelp violence is hilarious. "My complaints are more valid than your complaints!!!" Okay bro. Settle down and slap it harder?

    Thank you!

YELP thank you soooo much for creating a platform that empowers community members to connect with local businesses. I LOVE being a part of this community. #yelpinbloom #yelpelite2026 #yelpelite

A longer an updated review will be forthcoming. But I am so thankful to Yelp for telling me where to eat. I write that often on a lot of of my reviews because it is a fact. So many businesses I've connected with I did ^not know existed prior to Yelp, Connecting with the community on Yelp has been such a blessing and a gift. I have found businesses that I never knew existed otherwise. Thank you so much to Yelp, the community managers, and the connections that have been made. I know there is so much happening behind the scenes and I am happy and thankful to be a part. Thank you!

About $10 lost every click from spam callers calling my yelps pay per click listing.

In the past advertising with yelp did work. Things have drastically changed over the past three years. Yelp without informing me or giving me the option puts me on yelp search partners. Before if my ad budget was set for example to $450 a month I would get about 45 clicks and if I did not get all of those clicks to my page I would not be charged the full amount. By being put on yelp search partners, which I did not agree to pay for or was informed of it charges me the full amount of my ad budget every single time. Google advertising is transparent with Google advertising being put on search partners is a choice. Scam and spam call centers see I am paying for Yelps sponsored listing and call 30 times a day always with an Indian or Pakistani accent. My business line has been completely taken over by scam and spam callers. Nonstop Medicare scam calls, US funeral expense scam calls, voice activation department, Home Advisor, how my advertising is going and offering outside advertising services, Google voice search scam, housecall Pro, google listing verification scams. Every person that calls is Indian or Pakistani from their accent. The spam callers usually go off the same script when they call saying. "I found your locksmith business listing on Yelp and I have a business proposal. Am I speaking with the business owner?" I say to them "you just cost me $10 by clicking on my Yelp pay per click listing with your spam call! 20 of you call me each day! My call tracking shows nothing but foreign area codes with phone calls lasting less than 20 seconds. I shared this with yelp and asked for a refund explaining that yelp has been charging me for online exposure. I did not ask or was informed my business would be put on yelps search partner sites resulting in being charged hundreds of dollars each month only for spam calls. Yelps business success department suggested I increase my budget to receive actual leads from customers. My business line has been completely taken over ringing nonstop, all day and night by people from India and Pakistan. After I quit advertising with yelp, it took about 10 weeks for these call centers to stop calling.

I am so happy to have discovered Yelp nearly 15 years ago. I've been Elite for 13 years and an All Star for several months. I have discovered so many new restaurants and businesses through Yelp when I travel for work and also when I go on vacation. I've made many friends and I enjoy the Elite events where I can associate with other Yelp friends. I love supporting small businesses and Yelp is a great way to provide support and awareness.

So we now have to consent to each Helpful, Funny, Cool vote we place. Intrusive and a ridiculous time waster.
    Michael N.

Friendly reminder. Your Egg McMuffin is not Kate Moss. Are dozens of images really necessary?

    Peter N.

I love the Yelp motto of promoting locally owned businesses. I check the reviews before deciding on a restaurant or home improvement vendor. I enjoy earning badges and getting recognitions. As an Elite, I like trying out local restaurants and businesses. Yes, Yelp has some of the same issues as other social platforms. Anytime I see a 1 star review by someone with only 1 review, I ignore it. It's also obvious some negative reviewers never tried the businesses they are slamming. It's easy to determine the real reviews when you have a bunch to choose from. Yelp Elites can usually be counted on to give you the real score. When I send a compliment, it's a compliment. For everything else I send a message. I see people sending one dozen one word compliments that are not complimentary in order to rack up numbers: Hi How Are You Today I Am Fine Etc, etc. I see clicks, favoritism, and people trying to scam the system. So, what else is new? Anything man can devise man can circumvent. Even with all its faults, Yelp does a lot of good for a lot of people. That's why I Yelp!

I'm a Duchess in my own mind and home!! Yelp is fleeting. :-)

No weird caps, no annoyingly repetitive questions. I followed some instructions, was helped by one of the most efficient market-research-company employees I've ever met, and was done. I'd do it again. And again. And again and again. It's also kind of fun walking around this area at rush hour, signing in with security downstairs, and using really clean bathrooms. Playing a blend of throwback hip hop and R&B mixed in with popular hits from today, Q102 is a refreshing break from the same old, same old from the likes of KMEL, Wild 94.9, Movin' 99.7, etc. Now, I am certainly not one of those old curmudgeons who vehemently blasts the (lack of) quality of music today, but you must admit, a lot of the stuff out now is absolutely abhorrent (that Tuesday song has got to be the most horrible sound to pierce my eardrums since that one terrible MIA song from Slumdog Millionaire with the random gunshots). To spare my sanity, I've been frequently using the Tune In Radio app to stream the finest old school hip hop station in the nation, 93.5 KDAY in LA (http://www.yelp.com/biz/93-5-kday-los-angeles?hrid=b68FRyTzDPGxl5Lb1ILddA), but Q102 just might start inching up towards the top of my list. When the likes of LL Cool J - Around the Way Girl, Public Enemy - Can't Truss It, EPMD - You Gots to Chill, Da Brat - Funkdafied, Bone Thugs 'n Harmony - First of the Month, Tevin Campbell - I'm Ready, and Hi-Five - I Like the Way all come blaring through your Alpine deck... back to back to back, you KNOW it's time to keep that dial on lock. However, the reason why I can't give a full five stars is that indeed, in order to pay the bills, Q102 has to throw in the occasional Iggy, Drake, Big Sean, and whatever else is the flavor of the week nowadays. It's a small price to pay for the opportunity to be graced with the classic hits I haven't heard since high school. With how cutthroat the radio industry can be, who's to say how long Q102 will be able to survive, but I am glad that finally someone is willing to break free from the monotony. Just as I said in my review of KDAY, Q102 is the "ish!"

Unfortunately recently , I've noticed and hope it is not a beginning trend that this newspaper starts using "porn" like female pictures in its magazine and Sunday's articles. In its 06/12-06/18 Singtao Times Weekly, there is a featured story about homosexuals (in Taiwan only??): lesbians seek ways to get pregnant and gay men are forced into "fake" marriages because they want to become parents. But they use a picture showing "topless" pretty women only (men are well dressed) to depict homosexuals. Is "topless women" the only way to convey to readers what homosexuals are?? In addition, in its 6/13/2010 Sunday health article about hip in general, it featured a "bottomless" curvy woman (no men). Again, this "bottomless" curvy woman picture (with no pant ) is unnecessary. I don't think the picture sends a correct message to readers. It is somewhat degrading the women especially the beautiful ones with good physique. I certainly don't want my children thinking their parents reading "porn" newspaper. I'd upgrade the rating of this newspaper higher if they stop using "porn" like figures in its magazine or articles.
