the cost for canceling under 24 hours is half your service. I woke up really sick- called as soon as they opened. Not sure if it's Covid but I'm not going out of course. I got charged 50% of a $175 appointment. I get having a fee but that's VERY high. staying home sick in these times is respectful of others. I'm never rebooking. read more

Returned to Evolve today for another appointment with the stunningly talented Christina, & y'all, she blew my expectations away yet again!!! My hair is usually some neon/pastel shade of blue/pink/purple, but my natural color is dark as hell -- & it had been awhile since I'd been to see her (due to covid), so I walked in with about 4 inches of DARK root growth & 2 neon colors in my hair. Christina took one look at the disaster I had brought her & immediately knew what magic to work in order to make my hair presentable again! Barely 3 hours later, she had somehow lifted all my hair to the prettiest angel blonde (save the tips, which are a soft blue the way I like them), treated & conditioned my hair (hot tip: she gives the best scalp massages), & deftly razored my hair into a fresh scene cut. I still cannot believe how incredibly quickly & accurately she is able to work, & her results stun me every time!! I swear half the things she pulls off shouldn't even be possible! Christina is the real deal. There's a reason she is the only one I trust to touch my hair. What a wonderful person she is too; I have nothing but praise for her. Thank you for everything! read more

I got my hair, brows and lashes done at Evolve last week and I'm thrilled with all my results! Prior to quarantine I had dyed my hair purple but 3 months later it was a bleached/purple/brunette mess! After 4.5 hours I was fully brunette again. The next week I saw Kristina (sbw beauty) for a eye brow lift/tint and hybrid lash extensions. It took 3 hours and I left feeling relaxed, happy and so pretty. Overall I'm thrilled and hope the results last a long time! I feel naturally beautiful. read more

I came in to get a blow dry and style for a wedding and got so much more than what I expected. I had gotten a hair cut a few weeks before for a wedding and wasn't happy with the cut, but I had no idea why so I couldn't fix it. I walked into Evolve hoping Olga could blow dry it into something nicer looking and she immediately spotted all the places where the original hair cut had gone wrong. Every time she pointed something out, I said, Yes! That's exactly what's wrong! She offered to fix it for me and though I was a little nervous about touching the hair so close to the wedding, she had spoken with such confidence that I accepted her offer. I'm so glad I did. She gave me an amazing haircut and styled it so it'll look great for the wedding. She seemed very receptive to feedback if I had it, but I hate telling my hairdressers what they should do. I never know what will look good, so I always prefer them to take charge and make great decisions for me. She was very comfortable with this but always kept me informed about what she was doing in case I did have any input. Very few hair dressers have given me such an amazing experience in the past. I sincerely wish I could see Olga every time I need a haircut. Unfortunately I live on the other side of the country, but if and when I come back to the Boston area, I plan to make a trip out to Marblehead to get another haircut. Thanks again Olga! read more

So this was my 1st visit and I'm sooooo in looooovvvvveeeee with my new do!!! I came in with long, black, waist-length hair that has been the same dull layered look for the past 10yrs. I have been very intrigued by the balayage style of highlighting (or babylighting since I have dark hair) after seeing Guy Tang on YouTube, who is a fabulous hairdresser in California. I have been skeptical about getting it done bc some of the salons I checked with here in Mass had no clue what I was talking about. When I came across Evolve Hair Designs on Yelp, I went to their website and one of the services listed was balayage (hair painting), so I decided to give it a shot. And omg I'm sooooo glad I did!!! I found a video Guy Tang did where he gave his client a "Lob" haircut with babylights and showed it to my hairdresser, Amberlee......man this girl did an AWESOME JOB!!!! I will definitely be coming back to see her for my future hair appointments!! I was the last client of the day and the appt went well after closing time, but she was super cool about it. Sandy at Evolve was wonderful. The experience of getting my hair highlighted and cut was very relaxing. It was a new experience for me not going into the hustle and bustle of a busy hair salon where you are often (not voluntarily) squeezed/staggered between multiple appointments. Here you are in a relaxing, spa-like environment and feel like you are the center of attention and not just another head of hair waiting your turn to get attention. I have been getting my hair done here for a few years (ally is my hairdresser And she is great!!) and this September I chose Evolve to do my wedding hair along with 5 of my bridesmaids. Everything went so well from the trial to the big day. My bridesmaids all looked amazing and they were so happy with the way everything came out. I got so many compliments on my wedding hair all night! Ally and Lia were amazing. They had the place decorated with mimosas and breakfast snacks, the whole experience was excellent! I booked Lia and her girls (Allie and Nicole) for my wedding day in August and they are amazing. They came to an offsite location and did a total of 10 hairstyles (MOB, bridesmaids and flower girl) in a matter of hours. The styles were beautiful and the girls were so much fun to have around which helped calm any nerves! They were able to take Pinterest styles and make them come to life! My "regular" hairdresser moved & I couldn't believe how difficult it was to find a professional with talent in Marblehead. They all charged a pretty penny for mediocre service & atmosphere. Enter Lia of Evolve (formerly Wind & Waves). She got the memo. Great colorist that will give you a decent cut. Finally someone who "renovated" a look I sported for too long. She's so good at what she does that I've followed Lia to a few different Marblehead salon locations and am so thrilled she's found herself "home" as the co-owner of Evolve. I've been blonde, I've been brunette, and a number or shades in between---she's a fantastic colorist. Likewise on the cuts, I'm always switching it up--from long to short--she does it all! I like to try new things but I am not always the best at articulating my vision, she's right there to guide me toward the latest trend that will work for my hair and style. I feel incredibly torn about this review. The first time I went to Evolve last September I had a very good experience with Olga--cut and highlights. It was precise and well done. That was a 5 star cut. BUT.... In december I went back again and asked that the highlights in my ash brown hair be a bit brighter (I had been getting low and highlights). We selected a completely neutral blonde that was one shade lighter than the previous time for the highlights. Foils go in, halfway through she checks them and then mixes up more color and starts applying color to the rest of my hair--the roots that are not in the foils .Hmm, l think, this is weird, I want highlights, I don't have gray, I didn't have a full color before, why is the rest of my hair being painted. but I dont say anything. I wish I had. Wash everything out and my hair is a brassy yellow blonde everywhere. Kind of an orangey blonde.Not highlights with the neutral we had selected (and I later found out this orange color happens when your hair in in the process of being lightened but has not completed the process). I still dont know why she added the color, except maybe that the highlights she checked had turned so blonde that she decided to lighten the rest? But that should have been my decision. Or maybe she thought I had gray roots I wanted to cover? I dunno but I have not done a full color of my hair since I was 16 and experimented with Miss Clairol. This was pretty much a miss clairol job. I came home and husband just said "What happened?!" I left the next day for Los Angeles where I got my hair cut at Sally Hershberger (I had booked only highlights with Olga this time) and someone there put a purple toner on it but essentially said there's not much to do at this point, wait for it to grow out. My hair is growing out now and i have the dreaded stripe, plus despite using a purple toning shampoo my hair is a kind of unfortunate brassy color. So now I have to find a new salon. The owner did come over after the color and had offered for me to come back if I didn't like it, but as I left the next day for 2 weeks, I didn't take her up on the offer. I am considering going in and discussing fixing it, but at this point will probably try the salon next door. I know this is a negative review, but I also know that Olga is capable of giving excellent cut and color and I've seen people walk out looking great. I am just not sure what happened here but I suspect communication issues were part of it. read more

Went to Evolve for a blow out on the day of my friend's wedding. The staff there were so nice and accommodating and set up a little mimosa, coffee and snack station for the bridal party. They listened to everyone's requests and delivered beautifully. Amberlee did my blow out and it came out great. Everyone's hair looked fab and stayed all through the night, and this group hits the dance floor hard! If I lived closer, I'd definitely return! read more

Lia is a gem. After years of driving 40 minutes to get my hair done by a prima dona, I am thrilled to have sweet, unassuming Lia right down the street. I am fussy and knowledgeable about hair and can honestly say I've never had better cuts or color. Lia is extremely talented (don't let her quiet demeanor fool you -- she knows what she's doing). She also cares, really listens, and knows her work is about YOU, not her ego. There's no drama. Lia recently moved into a smaller, intimate space across from the Warwick Cinema, in the rear of a massage studio. It's clean and modern and bright. Parking is easy, too. I look forward to my appointments. My 20-something daughter (with her crazy-long, thick hair and who now lives out-of-state) also makes sure to visit Lia every time she comes home for a visit and the results are spectacular. read more
