If I have to go anywhere for my pets, this is the place. My partner and I have had to take both our dog and bearded dragon for emergency visits and the staff has been nothing short of incredible. Nikee always greets us with a smile and even remembers our pets names! I'd especially like to shoutout the exotics team, Trudy (exotic vet tech) and Dr. Gardhouse (exotic doctor) as they are the true stars of our visits. It's so hard to find a vet that shows an expertise in their field such as this one like they do. Our bearded dragon had to have extensive diagnostics performed and eventually a surgery, and Dr. Gardhouse did an incredible job--even under unforeseen circumstances during the surgery. They also kept us updated multiple times throughout the day while she was recovering. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and will be forever grateful for the staff at EVS. read more

They charged us $500 for two x-rays, plus the $175 being there fee. Vets and techs told us it was arthritis, here's some pills, and sent us on our way. When we were able to get into our PC a month later because she was not improving we were informed that in the doctors notes sent by EVS that my dog had two torn meniscus, one of which needed immediate attention. These notes also referred her to a neurologist, none of which was told to us during the 3 hours we spent there. Our primary care showed us the two completely different notes they had sent for her on that day. One was the paper we received and one we had never seen before. They let our baby walk out of their office saying it was arthritis and her knee was strong, all while having discovered something much more severe on their office notes. They should be ashamed of this negligence and withholding of information to clients. I hold them responsible for any further damage done to my dogs knees in that month. Lastly, I'm worried for animals that get more intense care there. Call and ask for everything on your animal to be sent to a new provider. I'm telling everyone I know not to use EVS in an emergency or specialty. read more

Our Brussels Griffon's scare last week that seemed to come out of nowhere and had us at two ERs; where he stayed over night at both before getting him over to Evolution. We needed to get Seven in front of a cardiologist. The struggle we were running into at the prior ERs was the fact they didn't have the staff to look over Seven overnight and getting him in front of a cardiologist that had an echocardiogram - getting Seven to Evolution took care of that concern right away and we live over by Denver International Airport. From the moment we arrived, the Evolution team was ready to help! They were comforting, we got to speak to doctors in person, and their promise to update us when they said they would happened without any issues. Although we live so far away, it didn't have us too worried with the thorough communication we received. The doctors took their time over the phone with us to answer all questions. Most importantly, Evolution saved his life. The prior ERs didn't think Seven would make it, and Evolution got him home to us. Seven is walking around our home almost as if nothing ever happened. Evolution determined Seven's condition is pulmonary hypertension where prior we were under the impression it was congestive heart failure. Evolution corrected his meds and got him home to us where he is now breathing comfortably on his own and we have a care plan to help him enjoy life. We still have so much gratitude for the previous ERs for keeping him alive, but his final stop at Evolution was the support we truly needed. Thank you for saving Seven's life. We are forever grateful to you and will recommend you to any Colorado family who is looking for a great place to help with their animal family. I needed to take my 12 year old toy fox terrier (Chauncy) to see a cardiologist. Many vets don't have one on site. This veterinary lives up to their reputation. My one and only experience so far was very good. Both of us were treated very well. This matters to me a great deal especially when the bill is $616 or any amount. Chauncy is one of my best friends and when I can feel he's just as important to the doctor and staff then they've won me over. I will absolutely come back to this vet for future needs. read more

Although the outcome was that I chose to put down my elderly rabbit, and that is sad, I have nothing but praise and gratitude for EVS: even on a weekend, even without an appointment, I could rush her to EVS and have her seen, and given an exhaustive examination. The doctor who examined her was kind and gentle--with her and with me. She was able to explain in ways I could understand what seemed to be the problem, and what treatment options there might be. She even called another doctor, not on duty that day but a specialist in rabbit conditions, for her input. The vet did NOT make any decisions FOR me, nor even ADVISE me whether to treat or not; she just gave me the information I needed to make my own loving choice for a rabbit whose life till then had been happy and uncomplicated. I really appreciated this. A Tech was sent in, then, to give me the financial details of possible treatment--very thorough and detailed; these too are a valuable part of wise decision-making. Really, there is nothing I can think to say negative about EVS: good, kind and professional people in the front office, in the medical wing, and on the business/financial aspects. I hope I never have a pet in crisis again, but if I do I will return to EVS. read more

We've been in twice with our dog and once with a chicken. The staff is always amazing, they are very up front about possible costs, (both times the estimates were higher than the actual) and have been so great to our pets under emergency situations. I can't recommend them highly enough: this last time the wait was many hours long, but I know it was a peak time and there were a lot of pets needing more care than ours did. read more

Take your pet elsewhere !!! They only care about money . I took my 16 year old dog here for almost 2 years . I spent thousands and thousands of dollars . Not only did the staff rarely ever follow up on any of the blood work or tests . I had to call over and over to get any information. I basically had to be my own pets doctor . They also only care about money !!! They over charge for everything and never helped determine any issues my dog was having . They last straw is when they failed to remind me of an appointment that was made 6 months before and. Protocol is to text the week before and call. They said they did both and did neither . Unfortunately we had an emergency vet visit for my dog, they got me in immediately and the staff was incredibly knowledgeable, sensitive, and kind throughout the visit. They allowed my second dog to stay in the room with us (instead of leaving him in the car) and were very comforting during the stressful time for all of us. This was by far the worse vet visit that i have ever had. I took my guinea pig in because his heartbeat was irregular and he was having problems breathing. it seemed as if from the moment that I got there all they cared about was seeing what, and how much, they could charge me. They only had one or two other clients the whole time that I was there. I was in the process of checking in when a vet tech/doctor came our and wanted to take a x-ray (for $200) of his stomach because it be bloated. I said sadly, it wasn't that kind of visit and his stomach was fine, which they later confirmed because he went to the bathroom. She had no reason to believe anything was wrong with his stomach because it was not tender in any way. She said she wanted to get him on oxygen and would could our and talk to me after she did, she NEVER came back. I asked if I could go with him and was told no, not in the emergency area, even though there were others going back in that area. He kept trying to come back to me when they would take him, which was heartbreaking on top of everything else. No one would tell me what was going on with him, not even to let me know if the oxygen was working. I kept going to the front desk to try and find out. Finally after over 40 minutes someone came out to talk to me and ask the same questions that I had filled out on my intake form, which seemed more like a survey that the can keep track of than an intake form. But she wouldn't tell me how he was doing or let me see him. The conversation was not going anywhere with her and she was extremely confrontational, on things that had nothing at all to do with my visit. I said he was in distress and couldn't breath and his heart beat was irregular. She tried to get me to see a cardiologist so that he could have surgery, that is what she actually said. I just wanted to know how he was doing. At some point I finally go through to someone that I had bought him in to say goodbye, so that he wasn't suffering. After over an hour they finally bought him back out, in a plastic tote and put in an room that had oxygen, which they had said over and over that they didn't have a room with oxygen. When they finally put us in the room he was not breathing any better even though he had been on oxygen for close to 2 hours. They let him suffer and both of us stress our just to try and get more money. I finally get to see a doctor and they gave him a sedative and they were supposed to come back and check in a few minutes to see if he needed more, they never came back. I became concerned that he was going to come out sedation so once again I went to the front desk to see what was going on, with my sedated guinea pig in my arms. The took him back to complete everything and once again, I couldn't be with him. I didn't want him to die alone. And once again they had him back there from way longer than It should have taken and by this time I had no trust in them to be around something that I love, so they finally told me that had to sedate him more. The really sad thing is that I was willing to pay the emergency room fees so that he wouldn't have to suffer longer. I had an appointment at another vet at 2:30 but I didn't want him to suffer until them. I could have waited from that 2:30 appointment and it would have been alot lees traumatic for the both of us. I was starting to have a panic attack by the time that I left and I don't have panic attacks easily. read more

This is only the second time I have felt compelled to leave a bad review on a business. This was by far the worst experience I have had at a vet. It was awful from beginning to end, but ended with an $800 bill and no answers regarding my dogs condition. I recommend taking your pet to any other hospital in the area. read more

The staff at Evolution was amazing to work with. I had to bring in my cat as an emergency and ended up with 2 options after his evaluation: 1) put him down 2) do exploratory surgery They were so caring and understanding of the situation and explained everything in great detail. I ended up doing the exploratory surgery (obviously not cheap at an emergency vet hospital) and they called me as soon as the surgeon got in and kept me updated along the way. I was very happy with all of the techs and vets as well as the front desk. My only complaint would be the cost but money means nothing when it comes to family They take covid very seriously and at the time of my visit, they were having patients call when you arrive and then they have you come to the door and drop your pet off in the crates at the front door and come to get your pet after you exit the building. The vets, assistants, and front staff are all very kind but I brought my cat in, weak, limping, and unwilling to walk. I felt that something was wrong with her hind legs, but after an exam, the vet says it's back pain and requests to do blood work so she can prescribe my cat with some pain meds for a "back ache." Two days later, my cat is still refusing to walk, and limping when she does. I've been giving her the pain meds since I went, and I should have asked more questions or requested additional testing as I'm SURE she needs an x-ray, but when you're in panic-mode, you just say agree to anything you think will help your pet. I was charged $600 for my cat to not improve at all. Im glad she's still eating & drinking so that I didn't have to take her back to Evolution before my primary veterinarian could get her in on Tuesday. I just feel I was overcharged for under-care, and as long as she's okay, I'd rather wait for my appointment than bring her back. *edit: I was worried about my cat I'm sorry - I still feel like more could have been done and the prices here are steep but I think they did what they thought they should've. read more

Last night was an absolutely traumatic experience. Our 18 month old 13 lb shih-poo was attacked by a coyote and came to our back door covered in blood. Unfortunately our small town doesn't have emergency veterinary clinics and we were frantically looking for options. After several calls we discovered Evolution was closest, yet 2 hours away. We didn't arrive until about midnight. From our first call on, the entire experience and staff at Evolution was outstanding. They answered the phone quickly every time. Their system was buttoned you and very smooth. Best part was they truly showed genuine concern and adoration for our beloved pet. I've noticed with some of these hard and painful professions, people sometimes desensitize. Not these folks. HUGE hearts. And they kept in constant contact with us throughout the procedure. After a terrifying wait, we promptly heard back with a reassuring and thorough update. By the grace of god and the wonderful care at Evolution we are feeling like the luckiest people in the world that our baby girl is on the mend today. I want to add that beyond the people there, a few more things really stood out. First, they were initially thinking stitches and other services would be needed. They determined only minor care was necessary. Which meant that shockingly they came in LOWER than their quoted estimate. Are you kidding me???? When's the last time you went to the ER and the invoice was less?? Lastly, they've followed up twice so far today to check on her and refund money from our deposit. I am so impressed all the way around that I am struggling to put it into words. Highly highly recommend, your family member will be in the best of hands. My dog was attacked so I took her to them the only vet open at the time. She stayed 36 hours with them. When i got my dog back she had stitches in her paw that had no bandages over it. She also wasn't given a cone which i later found it from a different vet she should have been in 24/7 do to a eye injury. My dog scratch her eye because she didn't have a cone causing a ruptured cornea. Paid thousands just to turn around 2 days later and take my dog to another vet and have the problems fixed correctly. Paw was infected and had to have the horrible stitch job corrected. Two ear infections and her eye had to be removed do to the scratch because of no cone. They seemed like they cared but its clear now I was very wrong. I would never recommend anyone go to this place. read more

I took my little pomeranian there due to a breathing problem, expecting to talk to a vet about my concerns. Instead they took him away from me, put me in a room and refused to let me see him even though I knew he needed me. After over 90 minutes, finally brought him to me in hysterical agony, eyes bugged out and mouth open wide, gasping. He was in terrible pain. Everyone there totally lacked interest, compassion and people skills. I was so afraid for Ziggy, who trusted and loved me and now felt abandoned. I asked twice to let me see him but it was denied. They hurt him, and there was no transparency about what was happening. He was euthanized while in absolute terror and agony, in my arms. The vet gave him the final med, did a quick check to see if he died, and left without a word. To see what a terrible end to a little life as what happened there, I am so angry, and my heart is broken for him. I felt like I was dealing with cold, robotic people there who hurt my dog badly. Nearly $600 for a healthy young cat who just had a nervous stomach. We came in because our cat was throwing up a lot after we took a trip and were gone for several days (we had a sitter check on him) and we knew it was his nerves from the schedule change/us being gone and told them he had done this before when we had been gone on a trip. We also told them his behavior was normal, poop was normal, eating and drinking we're normal, etc. The vet insisted we get over $300 xrays before she could give him simple anti nausea and fluids. Ridiculous and unnecessary and put us in a terrible position. Once the xrays were done and normal, she said she felt okay giving him the simple treatment he actually needed. We felt taken advantage of. The whole thing lasted nearly 3 hours as well, and we saw many other pets dropped off and picked up while we were still waiting. Hate that these late night places take advantage of you just trying to be a good cat parent. *Didn't even mention we were sent home with medication that said "FOR DOGS ONLY" all over the package with zero explanation it was safe for our cat. The wait time wasn't the issue, it was the fact that we made the cold and awkward Covid drop (while dog owners were greeted outside by a person) then never heard from anyone until we called an hour later and they didn't know we hadn't even been given the intake paperwork. Would not recommend this place. read more

Had a good experience with Evolution Veterinary Specialists! We used their urgent care option for a dog with an injured leg. We ended up going twice because she just wasn't showing enough improvement and both times they were very helpful. She is reactive to other dogs and they were able to sneak us in and out the "back" way to avoid any conflicts. All of the doctors and techs were awesome and made it a comfortable experience for me and a minimally stressful event for my dog. They had good suggestions and didn't automatically push the most expensive options which I was thankful for. They are definitely priced competitively and seem to care for their patrons and their pets. Would highly recommend! read more

i brought my 18 year old cat, who has had lymphoma for at least six months, to the clinic as she suddenly became ill on a Sunday. The initial treatment plan was to hospitalize my cat overnight and perform ultrasound and other procedures the next day. Early tests, however, showed that the situation was too serious to even try. Dr. Penn called and explained the testing results. She was straightforward and very kind as she told me the bad news. I picked up my cat that night for a last night at home. Although this was a sad experience, I so appreciated the careful explanation of the condition and possible options as well as the care and kindness of the entire staff. i would certainly recommend Evolution for any emergency. They are clearly knowledgeable and in possession of advanced testing and treatment. Also, they are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week which is certainly a plus. read more

My son was out of the country on vacation and his dog became ill. None of our regular veterinarians could see her. Our regular vet recommended this specialty urgent care. I was very concerned that they would order many tests and the cost would be astronomical. To my surprise the staff to start with were very caring. One of the Medical techs came out greeting me, assessed her and carried her in for me. The Dr. was very thorough and even took the time to speak to our son twice giving him her assessment and recommendations. I was so pleased to have them care for her and me....in the end the expenses were very duable and the Dr. did what was needed without being pushy. I highly recommend this facility for you to take your family pets to! read more

Night shift staff was amazing, especially the gentleman with "the sleeve", but it went downhill at shift change in the morning when they wanted to euthanize my baby without knowing exactly what was going on. I can't say enough great things about our experience with EVS. We definitely weren't expecting a 4 night weekend hospital stay or the bill but the care and love our dog received during her time there was incredible. They were thorough, communicative, knowledgeable and did exactly what they said they were going to do. Everyone loved her and they were so compassionate to her needs and our worries. We were encouraged to call or visit whenever we wanted. The best part is we got a healthy dog returned to us and that is all that matters. Wow, they are great! Vacationing up at Grand Lake and they were the first vet on the way to Denver that could see us. They were kind, warm and professional. They allowed my friend and her dog in the waiting area so they did not have to wait in the car in this heat. They suggested that I have my vet send some recent notes so they could best serve my dog. (My vet was great too, sending notes right away). They sent us on our way with meds and food and clear directions. We are home on the East Coast now with a happy dog. I am very grateful. read more

I would give negative Stars if possible this place is horrible. The veterinarians are only in it for the money they could care less about your animal. I took my dog in that was hit by a car. her back foot was obviously broken. I paid $175 right when I walked in the door. I was there for approximately 2 hours was taken to a room to discuss how much it would cost it was $2,000 for an x-ray and it would have been close to $9000 for surgery which doesn't make sense how they could know what kind of surgery she would need without an x-ray. They had my dog for 2 hours and did absolutely nothing to help her because they wanted all the money up front. They don't do payment plans they just want you to get a loan to pay them. I obviously didn't have the money up front and they put my dog back in my car and wrse shape then I brought her in. I was mortified and didn't understand what was going on I couldn't believe that they would just give me my dog back with a foot in the condition it was because they didn't have the nine grand up front or two grand for even just an x-ray!l I paid $175 for them to "examine" my dog which I'm sorry but it doesn't take a special degree or even a smart person to say that it was her right foot in the back but that's basically all I got out of them. I had to pay another $300 just to get her pain medicine and anti-inflammatories. This place is a joke run far away from here. read more

My Irish Wolfhound (Maggie May) required a TPLO surgery for CCL tear. This is a very challenging surgery and recovery especially for such a large breed. The surgeon, Dr. Moorer, was great. My dog had the same surgery on the other knee 2 years prior. This time there was much less swelling, redness, and pain. 3 weeks out and she is recovering nicely. Also Liz Grimshaw is the on-staff veterinarian who assisted and is following up on Maggie May and her recovery. I LOVE EVS. I use Trupanion insurance and all I had to do was submit the invoice and the money was in my bank account the same week. Nice combo (EVS and Trupanion). read more

We found Evolution Veterinary Specialists (EVS) due to an emergency situation for our 3 month old puppy. The ER hospitals closest to us all had a 2+ hour wait to even see a vet on a Saturday night and not knowing what our puppy's medical situation was, we wanted her to be seen as quickly as possible. We called and the receptionist confirmed they could see our puppy right away. EVS has strong COVID protocols in place and were easy to follow. As we waited just about 10 minutes in our call, they called with the diagnosis and next steps. They were also very clear on the billing and provided estimates in advance to authorize the treatment. Our puppy spent the night and the key message from the vet was no news is good news. The vet called promptly at 7 am the next day as promised and let us know the good news that our puppy was back to her normal self and we could pick her up that morning. We are very thankful for all of the great staff and vet support at EVS! read more
