Came…read morehere with one of my dearest friend who came down from NorCal to visit during one of the most challenging times of my life. The combination of friendship and delicious dishes delivered by Almost famous was soul-warming. Metered street parking only unfortunately, but service at the restaurant was excellent. Staff were friendly, courteous, patient, and were happy to go through the menu and make recommendations. You can tell they take pride in their dishes offered. They will check-in enough to ensure everything with the dining experience is going well, but not too frequently to impede on privacy. They have a breakfast/lunch (brunch) menu that they serve from 8am up until 2pm and a dinner menu that is available from 11am to 2pm & 5pm to 9:30pm. 1. Ginger & Cardamom Chai Latte (5/5) House-made chai with ginger and cardamom. If you like herbal spices, this drink was comforting and warming. It's not sweet, which I like and it paired well with the food dishes. 2. Crab Bhuna (4.75/5) Crab meat simmered in fragrant spices then topped with ginger, fennel seed, and curry leaves. It is served with soft, subtly sweet banana buns The crab meat was fresh and honestly, you couldn't even tell it's crab. It's seasoned perfectly with the aromatic Indian spices. The banana buns were interesting ... it was a bit on the dry side, but if you stuffed the airy pockets of the bun with the crab meat, it's not too bad. The banana bun had an interesting flavor profile; a mix of sweet-bitterness to it. 3. Sweet Potato Chaat (5/5) One of my favorite dishes here. It is sweet potato chunks mixed with a sauce blend of sweet corn, yogurt, tamarind, mint chutney and pomegranate. The sauce was light, refreshing, and tangy, balancing the natural sweetness of the sweet potato perfectly. 4. Brunch Dosa Rice & Lentil Crepe (4.75/5) Basically think of a crepe, but a super large size one. I just love their crepe - it was crispy yet doughy with a cheesy flavor. The crepe was stuffed with turmeric mashed potatoes. I typically do not like mash potatoes, but when it's served this way, I approve. The dish comes with a side of 3 sauces - sambar (lentil-based vegetable curry that's often seasoned with coriander seeds, cumin, fenugreek, dry red chilies), curry, coconut and tomato chutney. A perfect dish for sharing and for trying out the various flavors of Indian cuisine. 5. Wagyu Beef Keema Kulcha (4.5/5) Minced Wagyu beef that's seasoned well with aromatic spices and onion inside an Indian leavened flat bread. Highly recommend and will be back to try out other dishes!

You tried Almost Famous for Sunday brunch and it was absolutely fantastic!…read more Located in the heart of the Culver City arts district, this restaurant is a really great addition to the neighborhood. We went there on a sunday, which was fortunate for us and easy day to find free parking on the street. The interior is beautifully designed, sleek and cozy We ordered one of the popular spinach and mozzarella flatbreads, there are popular paneer and we shared the special dosa platter. Everything was beautifully plated and very generous portions We want to go back for dinner try more of their savory dishes and definitely come back for brunch because they do have both American and Indian options to choose from.. and the French toast looked amazing! At Almost Famous to your foodie must try list!

Thank you also to our Dad who always pays for all our family get together meals. He wants to continue to do our traditions even after our mom's passing. Laurel Grill provides comfort, ambiance, delicious food and meals along with excellent customer service. Love the patio seating and outside seating along with the indoor dining tables and benches. Thank you to our sweet waitress who made suggestions on what to order and checked on us a few times. At Laurel Grill we decided to order and try the Fried Calamari, 2 orders of Bread Service, Mediterranean Seabass, 2 orders of Rotisserie Chicken, Brisket Sandwich and 2 orders of Cheeseburgers. The Fried Calamari was delicious and crispy. It wasn't salty. Mediterranean Seabass was on point and wasn't over cooked. Rotisserie Chicken was flavorful and tender. Brisket Sandwich and Cheeseburger were plentiful and just delicious. We can't wait to come back to Laurel Grill and try other food items on their menu. Laurel Grill is now added to our list of favorites eateries to frequent with family and friends.

Showed up right on time. Waited 25 minutes before being seated. I made reservations letting them know we were celebrating a bday dinner. No recognition at all. I wasn't going to fight it at the end as we already had a bad taste in our mouths, both literally and figuratively. Our waiter (whose name I will not name) was so inattentive. It started when we asked to have the heating lamp turned on. He forgot about us a few times before my bf spoke up again and asked him to please turn it on. Throughout our dinner experience, I had to ask to have my water be refilled several times. He just completely neglected us. As for the food, we started with the cheesesteak egg rolls. They were a 3/5 but came out completely cold. Then we moved onto the brie starter, which was not appealing 2/5. I was excited to try their pork ragu pasta and it was the worst dish of the 4 we ordered. I actually found it to be inedible. Definitely a 0/5. The only redeeming quality of the entire evening was the pepperoni pizza we ordered which I would give a 4/5. I was so excited to try this place and to spoil my partner, but it turned into a mild disaster and left me highly disappointed. I would not go back, nor would I recommend to any of my friends.

This second time, I wanted to bring my husband and see what his thoughts were. This restaurant doesn't take reservations, so we took our chances and visited on a Friday night. We got seated in maybe 5-10 minutes, so...not too bad. Pretty decent casual date night spot. The restaurant itself was pretty busy, but it was warm and welcoming. The table was a bit wobbly, but not something that bothered us. I ordered the signature ramen, and my husband ordered the OKG ramen. We had sides of edamame and the corn wings, and I also ordered the wagyu uni sashimi. Everything was delish! My husband mentioned that he thought his ramen was a bit too salty, and I have to agree that the flavor of the broth is pretty rich. The only complaint is that the service was a bit slow. Perhaps a bit understaffed? It looked like the servers were pretty busy, but they weren't as attentive, and we needed to flag them down. Overall, though, I really like the ramen here, and I will likely come back again.
