Shrimp ceviche tostada
Jessica G.

Have heard so many good things about this taco truck and finally today was the day we made our way here! They're very busy throughout the whole time we were there. It's Saturday lunch time so prolly indeed peak hour as well. Few seats by the curbside and almost always fully occupied with new coming guests replacing prior ones. Nothing fancy with the dining space, but that's how you know it's good when it successfully drew the crowd. Worry not, ordering process and waiting time were both relatively easy and quick. They had plenty of menu but they're very helpful in explaining. We got their Mixta Tostada, Shrimp Tacos, and Ceviche Tostada. For first timer I'd say try the mixta as it enabled you trying all their shrimp, octopus, and fish! Toppings were all abundantly served and so so tasty and fresh. You could certainly tell how great was the seafood quality! Their signature shrimp tacos were the crowd's favorite, which was more saucy with cooked stuffing.

This has been my go-to seafood taco truck because of how amazingly yummy their crispy shrimp tacos are! Chef's kiss! The flavor = perfection. Their specialty habanero sauce = firee! The portion = 5 stars! Why I gave it a 4 today... they changed the ingredients of the crispy shrimp tacos.. noooo! It tasted like seafood stuffing, as if they were skimping out on the original seafood ingredients and adding more filler ingredients. I'm not sure when they changed it up but I was pretty bummed about it. Not a huge fan with the flavor now but despite all that, don't let that deter you from trying this place! Give it a shot. You'll probably love it. Support your small businesses!

Mariscos Jalisco what a delicious place! First visited their Boyle Heights years ago and that's when I first fell in love. The tacos de camarón/shrimp tacos are so good! And, what makes them even more delicious is the sauce they put on top of them. Squeeze a bit of lemon maybe some salsa and you are golden. Also had their campechana which is a cocktail with a mix of fish : octopus, fish, shrimp. 3 is plenty, 4 if you are totally hungry. The service at this location was fast when we visited on an early Sunday morning. It is a food truck so you eat standing, or on the few tables/chairs they have or you must order to go. Overall great friendly service and even better food!

Came to Mariscos Jalisco around 1pm on a Saturday during a weekend visit with friends in Culver. It's one of their go-to spots, and I can see why! The tacos de camaron are SO crispy and flavorful, just the right amount of spice. Friends said that they also package part separately for to-go orders to preserve crispness. There were 3-4 small tables and street parking when we arrived. The staff are fast, and you can tell it's beloved by locals. Wish we had a place like Mariscos Jalisco in my neighborhood!

Excellent as always. My undisputed favorite taco in Los Angeles. Get the tacos with a side of aguachile to dip or pour on top. This location is great because they take cards and parking is usually pretty easy.

One of LA's best taco trucks - Marisco's shrimp tacos are sooo delicious. It's a fried shrimp taco dressed in a spicy salsa and avocado ; the tostada shell is crispy and crunchy! Mixto is great for sharing - loaded with juicy octopus , ceviche and refreshing salsa. Enjoy it with the tostada shell!

This is one of the best shrimp tacos I've had! There's several food trucks and the one I went to had a few tables out front. I came in early, and I would say with a few people ahead of me, it took me approximately 10 mins to get in line to receiving my food

Don't be fooled by the street and the surrounding area. I was hesitant the first time but let me tell you those shrimp tacos are absolutely worth it. I think they chop up the shrimp, Mix it with other ingredients and then deep fry the entire taco. It is served with a really fresh salsa, some avocado and it's absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend getting at least two per person (shh I could eat four!) The Ceviche is delicious as well however I had the mixed seafood one and it was extremely fishy. I did not enjoy it, but have since gotten the shrimp only ceviche and found i fresh and flavorful. A squeeze of lime and drizzle of the orange house made sauce and you're good to go. I'm sure some of the other items are fantastic too, but I can't handle too much spice so I tend to stick with the shrimps ceviche tostada and the shrimp tacos. Grab a Mexican Coke while you're at it to really add to the experience. The service is fast and easy and they accept Apple Pay which is a plus :)) Just park along the street but keep an eye on the parking restrictions. The ambience is simple. It's a classic LA food truck on the side of a busy road and there are litt plastic stools and a couple tables. It's fun it's casual. It's tasty.

Excellent food. Extremely fresh and tasty. Get the Poseidon Tostada if you like extra spice and the Campechana for a refreshing meal. The shrimp tacos are also very popular with customers.

Mariscos Jalisco is worth the trip. The tacos and the raw oysters topped with shrimp ("oysters peinados") here were some of the best I ever had, and the affordable prices make them even better. I was very lucky and got the last order of raw oysters topped with shrimp that were available--it was a Saturday, mid-afternoon--so definitely keep that in mind in case you are wanting this specifically, though I am not sure if they regularly sell-out. The ordering line moves quickly, and the food wait was ~10 minutes when I was there. Seating with tables is a bit limited, but they have plenty of stools around. Plus, a lot of people simply bring their food back to their cars too. Mariscos Jalisco is definitely one of the best seafood meals you will ever have in LA, and quite possibly, the world!

Walking in is just how it was back home, there's a giant menu but also some of the famous stuff on display and ready to go. I ordered fried pork, fried chicken, tostones and the oxtail. It was all absolutely amazing. I don't always spend $50 for solo dinners but I couldn't pick just one item! I will definitely be back again with my family. If you are missing the Dominican food from back home, this place will not disappoint. If you've never had Dominican food, do yourself a favor and give this place a shot!

Stopped by Karibbean Cuisine after seeing an Instagram review and was looking forward to having…read moresome good Dominican food, especially because it reminded me of my summers spent with family in New York and visiting the DR. When I got on Yelp, I saw mixed reviews, especially comments about a woman being rude or having a bad attitude. Thankfully, we did not have that experience directly. I did briefly see her come out from the kitchen, we caught eyes, and she walked back inside. The ambiance was ok, good music , no customers at the time, but a few tables were dirty. The young man cleaned it right away . To be fair, I don't think the issue is primarily the young man taking the orders. He was kind, apologetic, and seemed to care, but the overall operation felt unorganized. Our order was incorrect three separate times. First, the drink order was wrong, but he fixed it and apologized. Second, we paid extra for mayo ketchup and garlic sauce in small 1 oz containers, but they were not placed on our tray, so we had to get up and ask for them. Again, he apologized. Then, when we received our tray, he let us know they had run out of lettuce and gave us potato beet salad instead, without offering us an option first. We ordered the goat stew plate and the grilled chicken plate, both served in to-go containers. For the plates, you get your protein, then a choice of green salad or potato beet salad, along with either white rice or moro rice, which is rice cooked with beans. We chose the moro rice. I've had Caribbean/Dominican food many times before, and it is usually packed with flavor, so I was honestly surprised that this was bland. This definitely feels like a coaching opportunity for the cook to taste the food throughout the cooking process, because a little seasoning and balance can make a huge difference. The grilled chicken portion was generous, and the plantains were delicious. The guanábana/soursop drink was also delicious, and the tamarindo had good flavor, though it had a lot of pulp/flesh in the cup. That said, the chicken and onion sauce were very bland and needed salt. For the prices being charged, the guest experience should feel more polished. Our total came out to $78 for two plates, two drinks, a small side of beans, and plantains. Pretty costly for what we received. Another thing that stood out was the napkins. When we asked for more, we were only given two additional napkins, which felt very stingy, especially when eating saucy dishes like goat stew. It just didn't feel like the best way to treat guests. As a chef and food safety professional, I also noticed behaviors that need coaching, including apron use when going into the restroom, lack of visible handwashing afterward, and bare-hand contact after scratching the head before touching food containers. These are important food safety habits that should be reinforced immediately. Overall, Karibbean Cuisine has good flavor potential and generous portions, but they need stronger operational structure, better order accuracy, improved guest communication, and tighter food safety practices. At this time, I personally would not come back, but I do wish them all the best in their business. I hope they take this feedback as constructive criticism and apply it in a way that helps the restaurant grow, improve the guest experience, and build long-term guests. If I see changes in the future, I would gladly give them another try. Until then, I truly wish them success.

Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? As has been pointed out, the ladies who frequently work the Benten Bowl truck are wonderfully insightful, friendly, and fast when it comes to service. They're passionate about what they do and it shows. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? A standard bowl at Benten Bowl truck will run you $10.00, and while you'll get a decent amount of healthy food I wouldn't call it a large portion, and you still may well find you're hungry after a single serving. That's no too uncommon given food truck prices these days, but it's noteworthy. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? My Spicy Mayo Ponzu Chicken bowl was clearly assembled with precision, and I could tell immediately tell that the ingredients were fresh. The chicken was well trimmed, the peripherals fresh and flavorful, and the sauces a good compliment. Was it the best chicken bowl I've had? No, but it did hit the spot. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Again this is a good truck for a decent healthy food truck option, but my meal didn't blow me away. No Star Granted.
