Amazing! I will def be back. Welcoming atmosphere and extensive choices. The oxtail and rice was soo good. I can't wait to be back. Parking can be a bit overwhelming street parking on a busy street. Prices reflect quality of food! service was fast and efficient. I can't wait to try everything on the menu

I finally visited the famous restaurant known for serving the best home-cooked Dominican cuisine. Wesley provides excellent customer service. I ordered a traditional Dominican breakfast, "tres golpes," along with an Inca Cola champagne and a water bottle. The entrance is greeted by a large Dominican flag , offering a warm welcome, and the outdoor seating area is available if you prefer to dine outside.

Ilonka and her daughter are the best! They've been through everything when it comes to restaurants and are making it happen, the family way! Great energy and food and she is aiming to keep up with even more classics. I don't gotta favorite, cause all the food my favorite. Authentic ambiance and service, great spot. Pull up & stay eatin!

Just had dinner here and we loved it. Over the years we have made regular trips to New York and New Jersey and had some great Dominican food while there. This measures up in every aspect. The sazón is awesome, everything we ate was awesome, the black beans were especially good, the sauce that came with the Picadera Dominicana took the fried meat platter to the next level. The morir soñando (orange creamsicle) was very good as well. Not too sweet but really refreshing with the fried food. More than once the employees and the owner came out to check on us, and just talked to us about the food. It made us feel very welcome. Definitely going back and sharing with my friends that want some good food!

Karibbean Cuisine has turned into one of my favorite restaurants in the area! I grew up on Dominican food and was so happy that I found this gem of a restaurant! Firstly, Tia is amazing and such a nice person. When I first visited, she greeted me like family and happily explained and recommended options on the menu. She's super personable and takes the time to know all her customers. On my first visit, I ordered the Chicharon completo with the mixed rice and potato salad which was absolutely delicious. All flavors blend together amazingly and I didn't want to stop eating even though I was full. Since then, I've been in a few times and have had the opportunity to try different menu items and I'm never disappointed. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious, The restaurant is spacious and great for any amount of people. I highly recommend everyone come to Karibbean cuisine and try the amazing food here!

Stewed Oxtail ($24)

This was my first time trying Dominican food and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I tried the stewed oxtail ($24), which came with two sides: mixed rice and pink potato salad. The oxtail was excellent, it had been cooked down so that the meat was very soft. The accompanying juice made the already flavorful rice even more delicious. I was doubtful about the potato salad but it balanced out the rest of the meal nicely. The service is friendly, but they do get busy and sometimes there can be a wait. Maybe a third of people take their food to go. And it's right on Venice so it's easily accessible.

This place was great: friendly service (thanks, José!), good selection, solid eats & drinks overall. I got the mofongo (not actually written out; only hint of its existence is a picture [bottom left pic of a ball] :P), chicken empanada, and tamarind drink. My friend got the fried chicken platter and soursop drink. The mofongo was good, but what really stood out were the drinks (actual fruit used!) and fried chicken (so tender [my friend thought it was a baby chicken] and yet so well battered; so tasty w/ the lemon juice!). Oh, also ordered the beans dessert, but we were so full by then that we couldn't really get ourselves to eat it, so saved it.

Shoutout Tía. Great food. Great service. Great experience. Like Tía told us, it's all about the stews. You can't go wrong with the carne guisada and pollo guisado. We got both (and an extra side of carne not pictured). So melty, hearty, homey, and delicious. I am so happy that we got a taste of La Dominicana this evening. It hit the spot!

So apparently we have all been eating steak wrong this whole time. They try to tell me that steak is supposed to be overcooked, mushy, gray and look like someone just threw it up. I will attach a photo which looks like absolutely nothing on their menu and let you be the judge but I do not recommend this place.

Finally a Dominican spot that actually tastes good!!! The owner Tia is so nice, reminded me of one of my aunties making sure you've had enough food to eat and only wants to know how you enjoyed her cooking. She was wonderful. The food was delish especially her beef empanada!!!! Her food was so much like I've had back home. I was so happy and excited to have it, meant everything to me. Now I have two spots I can get food from; the second being Bodega Delights. I strongly suggest you to come on by to Tia's joint, you won't regret it!!

When it comes to Caribbean cuisine, the Dominican Caribbean cuisine restaurant is a good representation of everything. For example, they have three different kinds of plantains or banana. And I can't decide which one I like the most.Mangu is soft smashed, madras is sweet, and tostones is fried, flatten and fried, crispy. The grilled onion toppings on the chicken and pork chops is absolutely amazing. It's sweet and savory with a hint of citrus. . And the. Moro Rice gives me a hint of Cajun dirty rice with accented flavors of Jamaican peas and rice.. I love it. Get some of the onions and sauce with the rice as well. I'm a fan of Caribbean flavors, so I might be a little biased. The menu reads like a Spanish's menu, which is deceiving since the flavors have more of a Cuban, Puerto Rican, and African blends. Not tacos and burritos here. The empanadas are fried and filled with ground meat, nice and big and meaty. Notably not at all spicy either, compared to other foods. Definitely savory.

This is Excellent authentic family owned Dominican food. It is very rare to find dominican food in LA. The food is delicious and reminds me a lot of my grandmother's homemade cooking in DR. The owner "Tia" is always really nice and very accommodating with everyone. There are inside and outside tables to seat and it's a very cozzy environment and plays tropical music on tv as a way to remember the culture roots in Dominican Republic. I order mostly seafood ,since I am pescatarian. Fish in coconut sauce is delicious, (also Bacalao cod fish ) But all their meats and empanadas look delicious, I have ordered the patties (pastelitos) and Yucca Balls (which is fried yucca with cheese stuffed, and Fried Green plantains(tostones) but there is also ground beef. Also the mangu with salami, Eggs and cheese (tres golpes). I am very glad I found this place and always happy to support a family owned dominican restaurant with good people wishing the most of success and they prosper.

delish food amazing service when you walk in you are greeted with a small feels like visiting an old friend! Will definitely be back to this cute clean charming restaurant!

Is this still open? Website says it's closed and I don't wanna drive all the way to LA to find it's closed.

Do they make mangu?

Yes, I believe Tia Ilonka (the owner) does it on Saturdays and Sundays; make sure to check in with her though. She's usually very responsive on Instagram: @karibbean_cuisine

Do you guys have Dominican salami?

She has Induveca.

What sets Haitian food apart from Caribbean food as a whole are the combination of spices and delectable flavors. Black Mushroom Rice (Djon Djon). Griot (Fried. Pork chunks). A cozy spot that caters to the locals, and I'm pretty sure I was the only non-Spanish speaker that day lol. Ordered gallo pinto (small) and nacatamal, both served in generous portions (enough for leftovers). Both were really tasty, hearty and flavorful. No frills, but I enjoyed them. However, my biggest disappointment was the chicharrón ( nothing but inflated air ) It tasted store-bought instead of fresh and authentic, which was surprising for a restaurant representing Nicaraguan cuisine. That was honestly the only major issue with our visit. Everything else was good, but authentic, freshly made chicharrón would make a huge difference and better match the quality of the rest of the food. I hope this is something the restaurant can improve on because the potential is definitely there.
