This time, I made an appointment ahead…read moreof time and was told I could check in thru the app. Of course, then a person has to find you in the system and verify all the checking information I already entered. But I barely sat down before a very gruff nurse called me back and took my vitals. She looked askance when I said I thought I had gout, because I've not had it before. "We'll see." After hearing more, however, she started to think maybe I knew more than she first surmised. She finished the vitals and said, "Follow me!" and walked quickly down a hallway. Gout makes walking difficult, and I called to her to not get out of sight when she turned a corner. Fortunately, the room was just around the corner. She waited impatiently while I limped into the room, then walked away. Soon, another nurse came in and took a few more readings, and said the doctor would be in shortly. In maybe three minutes, a nice gentleman entered, asked about three pointed questions and ascertained that this was probably gout. He had me remove my shoe and sock and poked a bit and then ordered some bloodwork. The second phlebotomist was able to hit a vein on the first try, rather than the four failed attempts at two sites from the first one. Bloodwork done, the doctor returned to recommend seeing my Primary Care Physician, but did call in some meds. Got the message that they were ready on my watch before he left the room. I think everyone there cared about my health, but it's a busy place, and they probably get a lot of folks who are wimpy or just trying to score some pain meds. I've never been upset by any of the care I have gotten here, and it's good to know they are around when you cannot get in to see your main caregiver.

My son has been dealing with a persistent cough and allergy issues, and I explained that his chest hurts when he coughs and that his inhaler hasn't been helping. The doctor only listened to his back and then told me to let it run its course. I left feeling like my concerns weren't fully addressed and that my son didn't receive the thorough evaluation he needed.

He listens to my concerns as well as why my GI was sending me there. I explained that I needed to have a procedure done. After talking with him, he referred my file to the GI specialists at UNC-Chapel Hill. After waiting about 2 weeks, I contacted the office of the GI specialists to inquire about an appointment. I was informed by the person I spoke to that they would not be scheduling me for an appointment and that they had closed my file. I asked the question, "how do you close a file without actually talking with the patient?" The person responded, "because I already have a GI Specialist in Virginia". I answered, I know that. She is the person who referred me to them because of the type of procedure she needed me to have. I was so disappointment in that hospital. I also contacted the person who referred me and explained to them that they were not nice people at the hospital. Being a good hospital, from what I was led to believe, end up closing a case before talking to the person did not indicate to me, they are good specialists. I am really disappointed in that hospital. The Infectious Disease Doctor (Dr. Brimson) was wonderful! I would recommend him to anyone who is going through the same thing I am dealing with. My experience with him was excellent. I cannot say the same about the GI Specialists who works there.

The lady at the front desk was so welcoming. It makes a difference when you're greeted with a smile and a cheery hello when you're not feeling well. However, my case is actually an acute exacerbation (sudden worsening) of chronic sinusitis--a condition I've had for over a decade. It occasionally flares up severely. When it gets this bad, antibiotics are the only way to bring it under control; I know my own body best, and I can tell that's what I need. My current symptoms include a temperature of 99.8°F, coughing, nasal congestion, facial swelling, and pain in both my head and face--it has clearly gotten worse since this morning. My husband and I are debating whether to go to the ER now or wait and visit urgent care tomorrow. I won't be going back to that clinic again; it was a complete waste of time.

Very perfunctory. Touted their many years of experience but no immediate intervention due to health…read moreinsurance/Medicare restrictions. Even with active wounds they require you to wait 6 weeks while you do compression therapy. They do an painful ultrasound and discharge you with a piece of paper that looks like a prescription for some type of kooky Velcro leg compression wraps that they don't sell, and no one in the office knows even knows where to get them. When I called the local medical supply places (Family medical and Blue ridge medical) they don't carry them either. When I called back to their office to ask where to obtain the wraps the reply was "I don't know, try googling it?" Wow. Good luck with their primary demographic navigating the internet and being compliant. Thankfully I searched Velcro calf wrap on Amazon and got a pair for $20 vs the crazy $99 PER LEG mess that they were hawking. For $20 she can take them on and off herself, unlike awful compression hose! If she'd known about these years ago we wouldn't have needed to waste our time even going here. Thanks to Amazon and these wraps I doubt we will be back.

This was the first time going to a Duke Primary care facility and boy was I pleasantly surprised…read more The reception area was clean and well maintained. A security guard standing around doing nothing didn't help, but having one present was comforting. The front desk staff was friendly, however the workflow for the facility was a lil' weird. they had kiosk stations where you had to go to 'sign in', however after that was done, you would see the front desk to officially 'check in'. After being taken back for triage (blood pressure, weight, height), you are escorted to the back area where the rooms look like you are in a hospital. There is a central command area in the middle with a bunch of rooms on the outside, giving a central station command to run the office. (I thought this was very well executed). The nurses and staff were very friendly, as were the regular staff (custodial). The physicians spent plenty of time with me going over all of my test results as well as discussing issues that I was having. I had to get some blood work as well, and the phlebotomist's that were in the lab were extremely professional. I was definitely impressed by this facility and look forward to using them as my primary location for my physicians
