I have been going to EverTrue since April 2021. Similar to finding a good hairstylist, once you find a good brow lady, you keep her. Kim is the microblade specialist I see and my experience with her has been amazing. I go for touch ups twice a year and each time I receive the same attention to detail and care. She listens and takes her time. By this point, she already knows the shape and color that best suits me and makes going in for touch ups very relaxing. I added a photo of the most recent touch up. Of course the first week is a little darker but in a couple weeks they will be perfection. The final product is always great; my brows were very sparse so this saves me so much time when getting ready and not having to fill in my brows. I just swap them with brow setting gel and that's it, out the door. In terms of pain, Kim always makes sure I am completely numb before she proceeds. In 2021 I got my eyebrows microbladed for the first time at this location. I was ultimately not happy with the shape and the darkness of the shade. It's now almost the end of 2024 and the ink still hasn't completely faded, which has left me feeling desperate in terms of what ink removal options I have. If I could do it over again, I would be more specific about the shape and shade that I would want. I trusted the brow technician to use her expertise and I walked away feeling self conscious about my eyebrows because they looked too angular, sharp, and angry looking (in my opinion). Nowadays I have to cover the remaining ink with concealer and learned how to pencil in my eyebrows to a more natural and flattering shape and color. I heard about microblading awhile ago but had concerns about cost/needed to wait until I was done nursing. COVID-19 seemed like as good a time as any to take the plunge after I read reviews about how safe and clean EverTrue was during the pandemic and how good Josefina was at microblading. All true, it turned out! Even working from home, I still was taking 10-15 minutes every day to fill in my overplucked brows (thanks 1996 for the enduring looks! ) and loved the idea of just waking up, getting the kids to school, and joining a call without the effort. Josefina was excellent, explained everything to me carefully and clearly and did a fantastic job. I was nervous about the process itself (didn't hurt, felt like a very gentle scrape of a fingernail across my brows), but she talked me through it. After admiring the "natural/fuller brow" look that has grown popular of late, I decided to give it a try. Sadly, I'm not blessed with full brows, just lots of haphazardly scattered brow hairs that unfortunately can't be redirected to the desired area. I tried making my brows thicker using castor oil (too greasy) and then brow enhancing serums (too pricey for the mediocre results it yielded) and ultimately decided to get them microbladed. I chose EverTrue because the reviews were promising and the team is mostly Asian and I was hoping also Asian-owned (I try to support Asian/minority-owned businesses if possible). I chose Kim because she was the most senior specialist at the Chicago location so I felt my brows would be particularly safe in her hands. The initial session, while not entirely pain-free (I felt little scratches towards the end of the session, presumably as the numbing cream was wearing off) was definitely tolerable. And I left with some pretty glorious brows! I am about 2.5 weeks past the appt, and have thankfully made it through all the worst healing stages (scary dark brows, itchy but untouchable brows, Vanilla Ice/patchy brows, faded where did they go brows) and am starting to see the final product. This is a long over due review. As I'm ready for a brow touch up and considering options, I just can't put EverTrue at the top of the list. I had my brows microbladed here and the process was awesome in terms of pain, results were fair, and I wish the customer service would have been a bit better. When I got my first session done, I was pleasantly surprised that it was painless. I was comfortable in the studio, and Jackie made sure that I liked the shape and listened when I requested a few more strokes. Same with me second session. I wasnt crazy blown away by my results. They were WAY better than my natural brows and make applying makeup 90% easier. But I wasn't in LOVE with them, as I expected to be. I'm not sure what needed to be added (maybe ombre instead of strictly microbladed?) but for roughly $500, I'd expect to love them. Which brings me to my final point...customer service... I flew in (long story short, I'm from Chicago but was contracted elsewhere for work) from out of town specifically to get my brows done here (so I guess the brows probably cost over a grand when you consider flights for both sessions. ). Between sessions I never received a follow-up call, just an email for a review. At my second session I explained where I saw sparsity of pigment in areas with Jackie explaining this is normal for the first session. I thought for sure, especially given my expressed concern that someone would follow up with me and see how I liked my results. Nobody did. Just another email for a review. Anyone else I've talked to about their microblading experience has said their studio followed up with them a few weeks after the second session to make sure they loved their results and if not, they were asked to come back in so they could make adjustments. I wasn't DISAPPOINTED with my results, just not as blown away as I thought I'd be. Maybe I should have had ombre brows done instead or something but when I'd explained what I wanted my result to be, was advised to do strict microblading. If someone would have explained options, followed up with me, or advised me better, I likely would have upgraded to ombre which would have resulted in a higher price tag (great for the studio) and results like I'd wanted (great for me) but this wasn't the case and now I likely will not return here, ultimately resulting in the loss of a returning customer. If you know EXACTLY what you want and don't mind lack of communication following your treatment, you may like EverTrue. If you need advising and want follow up regarding results, I'd go to a smaller/more personable studio as I will for my next brow treatment. read more

When I moved to LA, I went in to get a touch up and they discovered that the tail of my eyebrows were not in line with my natural brow line. This was so disappointing to me because the ink sticks and almost turns orange and I have been in the process of removing my brows for 3 sessions (and I still need to go in at least 3 more times and hope that it will remove my brows completely). It's costing me $500+ to remove on top of the actual microblading session. Evertrue has great reviews and that's the reason why I came here in the first place, but my personal experience unfortunately isn't great and my eyebrows aren't great either thanks to EverTrue. If there's one thing you're going to take away from my long review, it's to trust the artist. There are two sessions for microblading. The first is to design the brow and microblade the strokes. You have to go in for a second time after multiple weeks (at least 4) for a touch-up where they can modify or darken the brow. I decided to make an appt after reading reviews on Yelp. There weren't many reviews and most of them seemed like they were written by friends since they had barely generated past reviews. But the place seemed well kept and it was close to where I live, so I went with it. I asked the person who took my appt if I should send in pics of my brow and explain how I want them done to save time during the first consultation so the artist has more time to actually work on my brows but she said no need. The first consultant was brutal. I'm sure my artist Jackie felt the same way. I think language barrier played a big part. I wish I had known the brow drawn would be scaled back when they're done. When they draw in the brow, it looks really thick b/c of the outline. That gets removed so the final brow is slimmer. That part was not communicated to me so it was shocking seeing how thick my brows looked. They were also too curvy so I just looked angry. I showed her photos for her to replicate and we went through many brows that day. After many attempts, we ran out of time. I was told the first consultation would last 2 hours when I first made the appt, but for some reason, I was only scheduled for only 1.5 hours. The whole process was stressful! Luckily, Jackie was nice to schedule a follow-up appt for the next day. Kudos to her b/c that was the day of snowmageddon but she came in to work. That session took another 1.5 hours to draw the brows then microblade. This time, she got it on the first try! The brows were much more in line with what I had in mind and the picture that I shared. Being wary of the brows, I asked her to slim it down. The end result ended up being too thin but at least I liked the shape. Keep in mind, the part about the broader brows was only communicated to me on the last session and that was after speaking to a friend of mine who does microblading for a living in Los Angeles did I become aware of this. Fast forward 4 weeks. I was more prepared for the second treatment. I sent an email to Jackie a week prior explaining what I wanted accomplished and if she could add shading. She ended up spending 2 hours during the second treatment, even though I was quoted 1.5 and included shading for free and broadened the brows. This time I was also more trusting of her. Knowing the outcome will look different from what she draws. That was a key piece of information I wasn't aware about and wish she had communicated it to me to level set my expectations at the very beginning. Recovery time: you're asked to avoid water 24 hours after each session. Then apply a serum they provide you with for the next week twice each day (morning and night). They're scraping your skin, so it will peel a lot and the itch can be tormenting b/c you can't scratch. I would just use my nails and press against my brows. That barely suppressed the itch but did the trick. Remember, it is temporary! After two weeks, the brows completely heeled. All in all, while the process was challenging, I'm really pleased with my brows in the end. I'm glad Jackie was patient and accommodating to extend my first session and did her best to provide the best service she could. My new brows save me a ton of time in the mornings since I no longer have to draw them in. I do a light shading which takes around a minute. In this day and age, there's nothing more valuable than time. The fact that I can save 5 minutes every day on my brows is a huge life saver! That means I get to sleep in for an extra few minutes. It ain't cheap, but i think the money was well spent! read more

For those unfamiliar with microblading, it is essentially a form of cosmetic, semipermanent makeup designed to last for about a year. The process of getting microbladed involves an initial consultation, where you and the aesthetician decide on a brow shape and color. Then they actually draw the brows on you (I believe with an eyebrow pencil of some sort) so that you can see what the shape will look like before they begin the tattooing process. The shape they draw on during the consultation serves as the template for the initial session, and also ends up looking much thicker and darker than they will actually end up looking. The price listed on the website covers two sessions. After the initial session, the pigment fades significantly over the next two weeks, and can look pretty ratchet and patchy. As for my own experience, I was a little scared at first because the color, thickness, and arch were initially so much more dramatic than my brows ended up looking, but the color faded significantly during the healing process. I would say that during the first week after, my brows looked pretty patchy, and in the areas where the scab had fallen off, it looked as if there was virtually no pigment remaining. You're also not allowed to wear brow makeup for the first week, so it was a little rough. During the second week, after all the scabs had fallen off, the pigment seemed to darken a little. As a whole however, my brows ended up being significantly lighter than they were at the end of the first session. During my touchup session, which I had done at the Chicago location with Jasmine, I let her know the changes I wanted (darker, in the same hue and same shape) and she followed. I was told that the brows would fade about 20-30%, as opposed to the 50% fading from the first session, but I do feel that my brows still faded significantly after the second session. Important: even if you don't choose to get your brows microbladed at EverTrue, make sure that wherever you choose to go, the chemicals used to create the eyebrow pigment are FDA approved.
