I've worked with Adrienne at this point on four projects. These include having some challenging rings sized (family wedding bands with engravings on the inside), re-imagining a couple of heirloom rings, and designing and making my husband's wedding band using recyled gold. I truly can't say enough good things about working with Adrienne (and her husband Kyle to!). I love Everling's ethos, which centers around using ethically sourced and recycled materials. It made me so happy to be able to use metal that I already owned to make my new pieces. It was better for the environment and felt more personal having my family jewelry incorporated into new pieces I would actually wear. I also have nothing but praise for the design quality and craftsmanship of my Everling pieces. I have a reasonable amount of jewelry, and my Everling pieces really stand out for the quality of their fabrication and the thoughtfulness of the design choices (like setting a cocktail ring with a large stone with a euro shank so that it wouldn't rotate as much on my finger). Also using recycled gold allowed us to completely customize the color, making that aforementioned cocktail ring a slightly rosier yellow gold to enhance the color of a stone while having it still go with all of my other yellow gold pieces. Our experience with Adrienne and her custom jewelry business, Everling, began over a year ago when my boyfriend was looking for an engagement ring. He looked at a jewelry store in Seattle, and realized that several of the designs he liked there had actually been created by Adrienne. He got in touch with her directly and it was perfect timing, as she was just striking out on her own to start Everling. Adrienne worked with my boyfriend to create a custom ring, made from recycled metals and an ethically-sourced stone. (I'm extremely biased here, but it's so beautiful and amazing and I would love it even if it wasn't also my engagement ring!) She was very communicative during the design phase, sharing many different drawings, CAD models, etc. We also worked with her to create our custom wedding rings, and Adrienne was again incredibly creative and competent. Throughout the entire process, Adrienne voluntarily offered to do things that would mean more work for her with no added cost to us, just to ensure that we had rings we loved. My ring had to be resized and even recast, and Adrienne took care of it all so easily. She also re-textured my engagement ring to better match the wedding rings. Working on the rings showed us how Adrienne went above and beyond with every step of the process. For example, I had four tiny gems from my great-grandmother that are cut in a style that isn't used anymore, and she was able to reach out to her estate jewelry contacts and find two loose stones to match. As if her professionalism and skill weren't enough, Adrienne is also a delightful person! She really helped demystify the jewelry process for us, even showing us how all the machines in the studio work. It has been so fun to see her studio on Capital Hill take shape. Getting wedding jewelry that really suited me was really important to me, but I have pretty unconventional taste (in wedding terms, anyway). Other stores and custom jewelry shops made me feel like I was losing my mind-- no matter what I said, they brought out something sparkly and platinum. Adrienne was an attentive listener, responsive, talented, and genuinely excited to work on something a little unusual. After going back and forth with sketches MANY times, we hit upon the fact that I really cared about process-- I wanted something that felt organic, irregular, and told the story of how it was made. She proposed that we scrap all the sketches and planning and just pick a day to come in and make it. I was floored. Most places won't let you step into their workshop-- the Everling approach is incredibly flexible and hands-on. On the day of, we worked with both Adrienne and Kyle. It was an absolute pleasure, even when I asked for some things that were a little odd. I talked Kyle into pouring the ingot sideways, which creates an almost mountainous top edge of the ring, and which I don't think he or Adrienne had ever done before. It totally paid off-- I am in love with my ring and love that it was made in this intuitive, process-oriented way. My partner was going to just order a plain band online, but after being there for my process, he is excited to make his own ring as well. We had an initial consultation appointment in which Adrienne helped me to choose what color gold to use for the ring. I have always worn silver jewelry without a thought as to what metal would look good with my skin color. When my wonderful now fiance proposed, giving me the option of picking out my own ring, I knew one of the most important things I wanted was to make sure it was made with all recycled/ethically-sourced materials.
