So many levels of art from both amateur and professional. The artist worked was done on the pavement, silo outside walls and inside the silos. One artist even did hop scotch on the silo walkway so the kids could play. Easy to spend the day there after going through the artwork with the zip line, climbing wall, music, rides or just hanging by the river watching the boats and kayaks go by.

Yelp is here too…read more Along with a large selection of artists/galleries (over 30) mostly from Buffalo but also other parts of NY state. There is photography, including some of the local scenes, paint on canvas, sculpture, media art and more. This is an annual event founded by Fritz Able, to showcase some of the terrific art from the area. They are coming from far and wide o see it. Today I heard people had come from NYC, DC and Miami, and those are just from hearing snippets of chatter. This weekend is your chance to see these artists and galleries under one roof. That roof happens to be the Buffalo Public Library's roof, which is a nice and easy to navigate building. The art starts outside with some colorful circles of art from a NYC based artist who was at UB for her studies some years ago. They lead the way in. There are some lectures at 12 today, which is what the $5 entrance fee is for. Tomorrow no lectures and no fee. There is something here for everyone's taste. And even if you find nothing of interest to your eyes or ears there is bound to be something for your stomach: Delish with coffee and muffins, Sun Burmese with black rice rolls and more, Askers, Nickel City, English Pies and of course some wine and beer for later, it's Buffalo. Come down, ride a bike or take the subway as there is not much parking around here, see what's happening on the local art scene. And pick up a handy Yelp reusable grocery bag just for coming. They have 4 floors with a wide variety of stations and things to do for the kids. If we didn't have to worry about nap time, we could probably spend the whole day there. If you have a Bank of America card, this museum is part of their Museum on us program- IYKYK. I also like the cafeteria where you can purchase snacks or meals for the kids. I appreciate that they don't police you, if you just use the space to eat your own packed snacks, just clean up after yourself is all they request. There's just so much to do. I would say the only issue we ran into was finding parking, but that's to expected at that side of town. Overall, a must for kids.

This place is AWESOME for our little guy. He loved this entire place and had so much fun. The building is 4 floors but Explore & More really starts on the 2nd floor. The first floor has a lobby and a cafe though which is nice too. The main floor of Explore & More is great. There is a Delta Sonic kid car wash, and so many cool historical Buffalo things like the Erie Canal and interactive boat for them to try out. The next floor has so many interactive things for kids to try and run around on. Everything has great theming for Buffalo and really shows off the hometown pride for the adults who are there with their kids. I'd recommend this place to anyone with kids because they have so much fun. There is something to do for all ages here. Definitely felt like a Buffalo gem.

This event was the bees knees! I truly felt transported back in time to 1920's. The posters as you are walking in were very interesting- the 20's were clearly great for buffalo! I also loved all the areas staged for perfect photo ops. The live music was incredible, the big band vibe was perfectly in theme. The aerial dance performances were spectacular and very entertaining. I really enjoyed that there were multiple rooms to hang out in, depending on where you are in your evening. The yelp table was really fun, I played both games and Hannah and Alex were awesome! The food set up was perfect, the number of toppings for the nacho bar was awesome and everything tasted delicious. Overall it was a very fun night on the town!

I recently saw a concert at Town Ballroom on a Sunday night. I parked across the street in a lot…read more When I walked over to the venue, I saw theatre signs everywhere. It wasn't until I decided not to jaywalk after the concert that I saw the official sign, welcoming me to the Buffalo Theatre District. As you can tell, it was my first time here. It was my first concert in Buffalo. So many cool firsts. This theatre district is concentrated. It has a bunch of live theatres, movie theatres, eateries, shops, art galleries, and more. I also saw the Buffalo Visitor Center, which would have come in handy for this tourist if it were open. I had to line up to get into the concert. I saw an art gallery, a hostel, and Alliance Française de Buffalo. It's a diverse, eclectic area. There are parking spots along Main Street. However, it's paid parking and when I was there for a concert on a Sunday night, there weren't any parking spots. I did paid parking at a lot, which was wonderful and cheap for a theatre district when I compare it to Toronto's. The only pain point is that there weren't any eateries that were open nearby. After the show, I found one many blocks away from this area with, once again, no parking spots on the street. It could have been because it was a Sunday night. Still, it needs a good few restaurants along Main Street to complete the theatre district vibe of taking in a show and dining out, in whatever order you'd like. It was nice to finally visit this area. I've never taken in a musical or show. I should the next time I'm here. (144)

Wow! Every room in this house offers something unique to look at!…read more The Orchard Park Historical Society maintains the museum and offers guided tours of the house. Admission was free when we visited but donations are also accepted. When we visited, everyone was friendly, and shared interesting information as we were guided through the house. The house was built in 1870 and belonged to Doctor Jolls, his wife, and housekeeper. Then later was acquired by the Town and repurposed prior to becoming a museum. Doctor Jolls' medical office is still in tact, and feels like you have stepped back in time! It contains many interesting medical instruments. Dr. Jolls was also inducted as an honorary member of the Wolf Clan, Seneca Tribe, as a consulting physician. In the other rooms of the house, there are several exhibits including: a vintage kitchen, Native American artifacts, a toy room, antique bedrooms, and more. The museum is well organized and the staff members are friendly and knowledgeable. This museum is a must-see! Check their Facebook page for their open hours.
