    My reason for living.

I'm gonna say it...I prefer the Eden Corn Festival over the Erie County Fair! You can't stop me!! But really, summer festivals can't really get any better than the Corn fest. Local corn, market vendors, plus rides and other various fun events? Sign me up. I've been going to the Eden Corn Festival since I was a kid! My favorite thing to do here is get a chicken dinner and a husk of corn to devour, followed by walking the festival afterwords and finally bringing home some delicious and cheap local corn. The festival is typically a four-day shindig, running from the first Thursday of August and into Sunday. There's a number of different events that go on each day, ranging from baseball games to corn eating contests, plus the classic car show that runs on that Sunday! There are vendors stationed on the lawn of the school as well, selling all sorts of homemade goods. It's definitely fun to walk around this festival. The Eden Corn Festival's got all the rides and fun things your kids could need, too. Parking is hardly an issue, there are lots down the street that only charge around $5, or park in the lot directly next to the fair for the same price (they're usually open).

We loved that you allowed dogs. We always park at the Boys and Girls Club parking lot! We enjoyed the craft tents and found a few great items for our dog and our house. We always finish with corn and fries, kettle corn and nuts to take home!! It's always a nice time walking through while enjoying festival. We always see someone we know from Buffalo. See you next year!!

I had my first experience ever here this year and I was pretty impressed! I have never come before, thinking "I don't want to stand around and eat corn on the cob with a hundred other people. That ain't cute". But after reading other yelp reviews (shout out to Hannah K!) I was sold. They definitely have a corn theme going. Corn on the cob for eating, for buying and taking home to make, corn nuggets (get these, they are sweet and fried and perfect fair food), souvenir corn festival cups, a corn hole tournament (word play with the corn but it works!) etc, but they also have your fair foods, rides, games, a parade (which was cute and long and everyone in Eden was at) and a craft show with some interesting finds! Things to know: -you pay to park, but the proceeds benefit the eden csd sports programs, so cool beans -be ready for corn! -Saturday is parade day -they have many atms on sight for when cash is king

This event is very small but a big thing to do in the southtowns of Buffalo. A small midway, games, vendors, fireworks. It is something worth checking out. Down side parking is terrible. Paid parking lot near by but still a far walk.

Also, I feel there were more event spaces. I totally love the Rockstar pop-up spots! We got to enjoy different vendors during the day. Osteria 166 never disappoints the stuffed hotnpepper risotto bomb! Nicks, well, IfYKYN Moneybags dumplings were what I was looking forward to trying, and I was disappointed. Got the Buffalo chicken fried dumplings, had no flavor what so ever the filling had no taste nor was there any "buffalo flavor" There were great vendors. This event is definitely all about the food, and it's huge. Definitely come hungry and enjoy Italian and Italian-American staples like pizza, sausages, meatballs, arancini, pasta, etc., as well as plenty of sweet desserts. With over fifty vendors this year, Hertel Avenue was transformed into a bustling, crowded marketplace. In my opinion, the atmosphere is rather intense. People are eating, drinking, socializing, and catching up with friends and family. The air around the festival is always heavy with the smell of smoke and frying onions and peppers. Believe me, lots and lots of grilled Italian sausages are floating around during this festival. Unfortunately, apart from tables near the main stage, which must be reserved in advance for a fee, there is nowhere to sit and eat comfortably. Lots of people are walking and eating or standing. I even saw someone use the top of the trash can as a table, yuck. As I mentioned, there's a main entertainment stage, if you like the Frankie Scinta vibe. The demonstration/cooking tent is a fun place to visit as well. The best way to plan for the special attractions is to simply check out the website. I think it's worth it. On the practical side, it's important to wear proper footwear. Because of the big crowd, I had to be extra careful not to get stepped on or have my toes run over by a baby stroller. It's wild. I guess that's the beauty of this festival. Fun fact: I ate my first raw clam many years ago at this festival while on vacation in the States :). Those were the days when carousels, rides, and similar attractions were still part of the event. It was probably more kids/family-friendly than it has been in recent years. Perhaps it will return someday.

They no longer have all the fun games, like " I got it" or the water balloon game or anything else it's just all food now. No rides, nothing for kids. But the food is amazing. I went there just for Campi's Pizza & Angelo's Italian Desserts. I was extremely satisfied. The pizza never fails me from there. It is always so good and since Campi's is too far to go just pick up a pizza and come home. I have to depend on the Italian heritage festival every year just to get my pizza. Angel is not located anywhere near here as far as I know so again I have to go to the festival just to get my good desserts. They had many other food stands, but I didn't try anything else out except for Romeo and Juliet's bakery. I know what I like so that's what I go for. You have got to try Campi's -White Pizza with the Greek olives on it. They have a few different kinds of white pizza, but the plain or one without all the veggies and without the artichokes and stuff is the really good one.. But they also have many selections of pizza to choose from

From 4pm to 4am, an otherwise usually-empty part of Buffalo is transformed into a huge art festival and free party of epic proportions. Grain elevators are decked out with huge art installations. I felt like I was in a video game of sorts walking around, with random adventures and surprises taking part on almost every corner. Going to this event made me feel like a gleeful tourist in my own city. From fire breathing to burlesque dancing to decked out psychedelic dance parties breaking out in random rooms of the silos and a huge main stage with projections, dancing and an awesome DJ. There's no use in having me write about every aspect of this event as there is just so much going on and it's bound to be different every year. All I can say is that if you missed it this year, be sure that you're there next year so you can be a part of something magical.

This past summer was my first time experiencing the magnitude of City of Night. Although in it's third year this was the first of which I could attend. City of Night is an art event that has so many unique features it is hard for me to even describe! Held at Silo City (92 Childs Street), the event cultivates a multi-disciplinary, sustainable, groundbreaking experience for all who attend. We parked in a lot near the First Niagara Center and waited for a shuttle bus to shuttle us over to 92 Childs Street. I guess I'm not the most patient person in the world because we actually ended up ditching the shuttle bus and walking. It was, however, much appreciated on the way back! The line to get into Silo City was long but moved quickly. I was pleased to see the bicycle check and donation based admission. Awesome. The event coordinators asked for attendees to share programs which is sustainable and appreciated. However, this was one of my first times at Silo City and it was difficult to determine which silos/buildings had installations, how to get into the buildings, etc. I really didn't want to miss anything. As the night went on, the people kept coming and the crowd was getting larger and larger. I hear the best part of City of Night is in fact the night time festivities, although I felt a little overwhelmed and left around 9pm. Don't get me wrong, I am happy so many Buffaloians came out to experience the art, music, and entertainment. The light installations were fascinating. I was puzzled at how these installations even came to be - from the creation process to the actual implementation. I hope to be in town and available year after year for this innovative, unique, creative, sustainable event. I plan to make it an all day event in the future. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of planning an event like this takes to pull off. Bravo to all those involved. Thank you for treating the people of Buffalo to City of Night!

While in Buffalo recently, friends suggested we make the hour trek to Ellicottville to check out the festival. It's located in a small ski village, and -- never one to turn down the chance to check out a new place -- I jumped at the chance. Street parking was relatively easy to find, and we soon were meandering through the downtown at the foothills of the ski resort. With hills all around us and brilliantly color-changing leaves, it was here to beat the beautiful setting. If you know local festivals, you know what to expect -- booths with all sorts of arts, crafts, snacks, and unique local finds lined the middle of the streets, which had been closed off for pedestrian-only traffic. We perused the different booths and stores before stopping a spell for lunch. Happen to be out this way in the fall? The drive down the (do I need to stop saying "the" in front of highways?) 219 was beautiful, and the weather was just the right amount of chilly to be enjoying my flannel and boots and hot apple cider. The main downside here is the traffic getting into town, but there really is nothing that can be done about it. You just have to be ready and be patient. The church just inside town was graciously offering "donation" parking (as opposed to the $10 parking further into town), and since it was on the edge of town, made it super easy to leave when we were done. The town of Ellicottville is also very charming, and I would love to come back again to enjoy the area on a normal day!
