It depends how many Kwilos we're weighing in at right now…read more This farm stand is a slightly-overpriced but fresh and friendly place to get your fruit and veggies, which is all the way down in Kentucky Derby, NY, but also during the summer and fall at the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers' Market, which is where I discovered them and chatted with them for awhile. Really nice people with some good products, not as perfectly looking or uber-sweet as the likes of Walmart and Wegmans, but cheaper (not that much cheaper) in general, and significantly better for you and more real. The question is, Kwill they be at next year's Elmwood Market "o" won't they?

It was towards the end of the picking season, so at first the berries seemed scarce, but once you push aside the bushes, some prime strawberries appear. They came to $4.25 a quart ( you pay after you are finished) .... we also indulged in some milkshake treats after spending some time picking in the sun. (they were out of straws, but I improvised) I chose a Raspberry one, it hit the spot! Next up, cherry picking!

The selection is also terrific for what essentially is a country hardware store. Westfield Nursery has been our "GO TO" place for those hard to find plants, trees and shrubs for…read moremany years. Though we now live in Silver Creek - when we decided we needed something very unique for our front Zen area - we went right back to Westfield knowing they'd be able to help. They have a very large selection of everything - from plants, trees, shrubs to pots, bird feeders and all sorts of "must haves" for everything that grows. The prices do not seem out of the ordinary, but the service IS. Today we worked with Laurie (one of the owners) as we hand selected some very different and extremely perfect trees for the Zen area. They are both from the White Pine family - one is a ball (even has a very tiny bird nest already in it) and the other is a spreading variety that is amazing - looks like a giant Bonsai tree. We also picked up a fantastic clematis plant that will be perfect next to the new arbor I just put up. Helping us get the plants into the new Jeep was a bit of a struggle, but with the plastic they supplied - we didn't get the Jeep dirty and the trees and plant all came out of the back once home without a problem. They do accept major credit cards, have plenty of parking, and they all know a tremendous amount about "Stuff That Grows". I don't think anyone would be disappointed going out to see what they have - who knows - they just might have what you were looking for. We already know where we can get our creeping Jenny - in both green and gold as well as the Japanese Lilac trees we've been searching for - next years purchases! BTW - they have Japanese Beetle traps that actually really work!
