    Getting ready to win
    Connie P.

Bingo got it! Slot machines got it! Did I win no but I did have fun! You need a card to play bingo so if you go get the card before you walk into the gaming area. You need it to play the slot machines as well. It is not a smoke free place but the have enclosed non smoking areas. Bingo lasts about 3-4 hours. They have a slot area with many different games. Also free water and pop in the bingo area. Nice touch! And before you leave if you gamble go to cashier to get any $ on your card or you will lose it.

Seneca Bingo - Birthday Bingo with my back-to-back birthday bro. :-D

My brother's birthday and mine are a day apart. For a few years we had the tradition of going to…read moreBingo together for our birthdays. Then the pandemic hit, and our tradition went on a hiatus. Until last weekend! We reignited our annual birthday pilgrimage to Bingo with a trip to Seneca Bingo in Salamanca, which is about an hour and fifteen minute scenic drive down the 219 from the Buffalo area. This is an old stomping ground for us. We grew up in the area, waiting for our mom to finish up Bingo at this very hall. But boy has it changed since circa 1998. Now Seneca Bingo is tech-modernized, to operate like a casino. When you arrive you have to stop at the reception to get a player's club card, even for Bingo. I don't like this formality, as it gives you all sorts of casino free play and bonuses that I am not interested in at all. Nor do I need anyone tracking my Bingo lifestyle, haha. But we did receive a $10 discount on our first Bingo purchase, and $5 for anytime the rest of the month for a birthday perk. Bingo here is expensive, so after the rigmarole of signing up for the player's club card, those discounts were appreciated. The Bingo room is down the hall from the casino room. The casino room allows for smoking (blech), the Bingo hall does not (phew). But you do get some wafting smells, if your nose is sensitive like mine. I'm partial to a light and bright Bingo hall, which is what I remember this one to be. But now it is dimmer casino lighting, with dark carpets and fixtures. Meh', not a fan. But it is spacious with reasonably comfortable seats at big tables with room to spread out. Just outside of the Bingo hall is the concession stand. The concessions were actually pretty great, with 25-cent bottomless coffee and hot tea, and a variety of hot foods and cold grab-and-go's. The grab-and-go case had some good looking salads that were about $7 each. The hot line had made-to-order burgers, hot dogs, and finger foods, most things priced about $4 - $7 a piece. I just had hot tea this time. My brother got a coffee and some potato cheese balls, which were like a round tater tot that was cheesy. They give you a pager and buzz you when your fresh-made food is ready. His potato cheese balls portion was pretty decent, and they were crispy, hot, and tasty. Gotta' love how a casino takes all of your money in the gambling rooms, but gives you a pretty good deal on the snacks! :-D In the Bingo hall there are booths up front to buy your boards. General admission is $52. Yup, you heard right, $52! That includes boards for every game in the session, but no early birds or warm-ups. Warm-ups are $2 each, early birds are $5 each. There are several games in the regular session that are 3-card pages, which you get one of in your general admission. But you can purchase more of those for $2 to $3 each. They also sell electronic Bingo boards. I never play electronic, Bingo is my time to detach from the screen. But I think electronic started at about $70 and up. The majority of the crowd here plays paper, which I found to be a comforting throw-back to simpler times. ;-) So yeah, general admission and buying extra boards adds up quick here! BUT ... the payouts here for regular games are MUCH HIGER than any local Bingo or Canadian Bingo. Most regular games are a $1000 payout! Regular games! Big money here for the Bonanza game is usually over $10K, it was over $13K when we played. The regular jackpot game is minimum $1200, with higher payouts starting at $3000 if you win in less numbers. Even the progressives and pot splits were several hundred dollars. So you pay to play, but you are walking away with well over your break-even if you win any regular game. So the big question ... did I win?? ... Drum roll please ... Brrrrrrrrrrrr ... NOPE! Haha, it was not my lucky day. But my brother won the very first early bird game of the session. Early birds pay out a split based on early bird sales, and he won $80. So he broke even, plus a bit! Until he blew it all in the casino room after the game, ha! I would have walked with my $20 surplus, but that's my bro, ha! We played in the casino room for maybe fifteen minutes, which was plenty of time for me to use my $15 free play and call it quits, and my brother to blow through his $15 free play and the rest of his Bingo winnings. Probably best to avoid this room altogether if you come for Bingo. ;-) Overall, my brother and I had a fun time at Seneca Bingo. The hall was comfortable enough, the games are actually fun (lots of unusual shapes like "bench", "callers chair", "star diamond", etc.), the concession was priced right and pretty good, and if you are lucky enough to win, the regular games pay out BIG. When we feel like dropping $50+ a piece to play Bingo again, we'll be back, hopefully even luckier next time! :-D

I've never smoked, so I notice cigarette smells easily, and wasn't bothered by it in our room. It *did* reek of cigarette in the lobby and around the casino however. Unpleasant. The bathroom was amazing with a large shower. Very spacious. Room key was needed to access the elevator and your floor, which was great (*cough* The canadian side Doubletree needs this right now *cough*) The US side of Niagara Falls is super sketchy and just for that I wouldn't be in a hurry to return - I also have no interest in casinos so there's not much for me to do here. Staff was polite. Overall I would stay here if I was on that side of the border.

From a hotel perspective, Seneca Niagara has the potential of being a five star destination. This…read moreis our third time staying at this hotel, and things have certainly gotten better since they first opened, but they have not yet achieved the excellence that I expected. The physical structure is very well designed. The hallways and rooms are magnificent. Heavy doors, cash safe in the room, adequate closet space, tastefully decorated with a Native American theme that pays homage to the elements of nature. The building materials used are such that you don't hear noise from adjacent rooms. There is plenty of parking and an inexpensive valet service if you don't care to look for your own space. The front desk staff are well trained and helpful and efficient. Their WiFi is fast with sufficient bandwidth that I was able to get some work done, sending and receiving large files without a problem. The rooms are nicely climate controlled, the shower is spacious with immediate hot water and the pressure is very good. The bed is comfortable, with good quality linens and blankets and firm mattresses. The housekeeping staff are thorough. The elevators move efficiently. They have tight security throughout the premises. All of the above is what they do right. I tried for two days to book a foot massage at the spa. No one answers that extension, so I'm not even sure if their spa has anyone assigned to answer the phones. The front desk - which also doesn't answer their phones so I had to physically go to the lobby - told me to just keep trying which I did without success. One of the reasons we booked at this hotel was because the website talks about their massages. Disappointing. There was no working electrical outlet next to the bed. The outlet that was part of the working lamp was dead. I had to pull my mattress away from the wall to find a working wall socket. There are electrical outlets over by the desk. The restaurants associated with this hotel are just fine. Three Sisters in the lobby has a very nice Buffet breakfast with excellent sausage. Everything else on that buffet is more than adequate. The wait staff do their best to keep your coffee cups filled and to bring you your check and even if things take a little longer than one would expect, we have no complaints about Three Sisters. The Western Door is a wonderful restaurant and we come here frequently and independently of the casino or the hotel for fine meals and properly mixed drinks. There are many little things that this beautiful hotel could do and should do to earn a fourth or fifth star, but perhaps their occupancy rate satisfies their balance sheet so they have no motivation to bring it to the next level.

We rented an $80 room on the 2nd floor. We had to unlock an outside door and enter an interior "unlit" staircase to get up to our room. My first thought was "Are we safe?" The room was wrought with what appeared to be safety violations. An ancient refigerator was holding court near the bed. Warning signs were posted by the management everywhere in the room. An ancient laminated map of Greece was literally thumb-tacked to the wall. What in the world has happened here? I was frightened... so frightened that I slept in my clothes (by the way, my husband slept in his clothes too, and he is a hunter!) I even refused to unpack our toothbrushes and put them in the bathroom because it was so filthy. There was no bath tub in the bathroom, just a small shower. The seat of the miniscule toilet was literally 2 feet off the ground... rather unnerving in the middle of the night. The TV was equipped with acceptable cable channels, which is the only positive thing I remember about our experience. The thin curtains, thead-bare towels, and "fold-away" cot (1930 World War One Army-Issued) reminded me of the movie Psycho. I kept looking out the front window (Route 20) and the back window (open fields that seemed a perfect venue to hide bodies) to see if a wandering vagrant could peep in at us. On our way down the stairs the next morning we had to chuckle. There was a sign posted in the hallway stating that the hallway was "heated, so please close the outside door." The outside door was SO ILL FITTED that we had to SLAM it twice to get it closed. The gaps around the door were large enough for a small cat to fit through. So much for energy efficiency. We left so early the next morning that we dumped the keys in the night box.
