Good place to play bingo in the suburbs. Been here every time we visit "home" and always have a good time.

Saint John XXIII Bingo - Saturday night bingo with my BFF!

The siren call of Queen of Hearts being down to one card is what brought me to Saint John's bingo…read morerecently for the first time. Knowing that a night with a guaranteed $7K+ QofH payout would be a madhouse, my BFF and I got there early to snag our spot. They have a weekly game on Saturdays at 7pm. The bingo hall is in a basement-level room with stairs to enter. There is plenty of free parking in the church lots. It is not a huge space, but they pack in as many tables as they can to accommodate a decent crowd. I went again the following week, (after not winning the QofH grand prize, boohoo), and there was still a decent crowd, so going early to get a table amidst this hall of dedicated bingo-goers is a good idea. With the tables crammed in, it is hard to maneuver once people start filling the room. The concession window in the back can be challenging to get to in the tight, narrow aisles between tables. But once you make it, they have hot dogs, pizza slices (both pepperoni or mushroom, the vegetarian being a nice option you don't see everywhere), as well as a variety of homemade sheet cake slices for a dollar each (last weekend's pistachio cake and pineapple spice cake slices were YUM), and your usual candy, snacks, coffee, tea and sodas. Admission al la carte is $3 for a three-face, or they offer a $25 packet with nine-faces of all regular and special games included, plus one early bird. On top of those games, they run a special Letter-X game for an additional $2 per card, a special tic-tac-toe game for $3 each, pull-tabs, and as aforementioned Queen of Hearts. Regular round robin games payout from $40 - $100, with specials paying a $200 consolation and up to big progressive wins that have been over $2K. One downside to this hall is, since it is in a basement, there are several pillars that obstruct the view of the called numbers board. For the early bird, they do provide a worksheet to mark numbers and bring back to your seat, so you don't have to stand next to the board if you can't see behind a pillar. I don't love this of course, but if you get here early enough, you can get a spot with a clear view of the board. One perk of this hall though is their frequent player punch card. With every punch, you get a raffle ticket for a chance at a fun raffle basket each week. Ten punches gets you a free early bird. I play at several halls, and don't know of any other that has a free raffle chance each week for loyalty players, so very nice indeed. Overall I like the atmosphere of this bingo hall. It is bright and clean, and although a bit tight on space, the folks crammed in are friendly and fun. And ... drum roll please ... for my second visit I won a regular bingo all to myself and took home forty bucks! A win definitely has a way of making you like a hall more, haha. Even so, I genuinely enjoy playing at Saint John's, and look forward to my next visit!

Nothing makes any sense at this casino / bingo hall. Jackpots are almost never posted in advance…read moreor updated on line and social medias in a timely fashion. They have been closing the concession stand right before bingo intermission, which makes no sense at all, as it's extremely busy at intermission. On the plus side Bingo workers are helpful and plenty of free parking. Downsides. New slots are all video and expensive to play. No snacks at bingo intermission.

A couple of staff were walking around, spraying and wiping down machines as players left them, and the floor also looked perfectly clean. Sounds good, right? WeIl, the place just... REEKED. We're not talking stale tobacco; it was more like someone had recently filled a trash can with the world's most acrid butts - cellophane included - and set them on fire. Poor ventilation doesn't even begin to explain it, because on the whole floor there were maybe 5 people actually smoking, and most of them were clustered in one corner. I'm a light smoker myself, but after an hour I was just about ready to cough my guts out. As for the slots: IMHO your odds of emptying a box of mice onto the floor and watching them die of seizures before they can scurry to safety are probably better than winning. High-volatility machines overpriced for their crappy payouts. Did far better playing the same games at Hamburg, and that is saying something. Two stars for the staff and their spray bottles, but you're spitting on the fires of hell. Don't want to think about what it's like on a busy night with bingo.

We always have a great night at Gay Bingo! Jessica Y's description of this night of raunchy game playing are spot on. This is not your grandmother's bingo, but you'd be surprised at the diverse attendees! The straight people have certainly taken over (according to a poll done by our very own Gladys at the May bingo!)! My recommendations if you really wanna play: Get there as close to 5pm as you can, stay close to the church so that you can get in toward the front of the line when doors open at 6pm, bring a bag of food and virgin drinks, and prepare for a couple of hours of crazy bingo fun! They sell dabbers for $1 inside and the concessions are pretty good- pizza, candy, popcorn, chips- typical concession foods! Also, if you bring canned goods to donate, you get a free raffle ticket. You can drop them off at the raffle ticket table in exchange for your little piece of luck. My ticket actually won me a bottle of wine at the last bingo I attended. Great consolation prize since I never win bingo- though my sister does almost every time (BITCH! ;) )!Yipeeeeee!!!

This place is as fun and as crowded as Hamburger Mary's Bingo Night in West Hollywood, CA!…read more Fundraising event for worthy charities? Heckling? Naughty sex humor? Fun, sassy attitude? Awesome hosts in drag? Kaleidoscope of people: young, old, seniors, straight, GBLT, or unsure? Hipsters, Nerds, Church groups! Lions, Tigers, and Bears oh my! Last time there was a group of 50 church people visiting from out of town. The place seats ~300 and sells out! The guys next to us were visiting Gay Bingo for the 3rd time in a row from Rochester. Seriously everyone else knows about this event...why aren't you here? There is a theme every month and prizes are awarded for best costume. There is specific BINGO LINGO for specific numbers that get called out and is explained at the beginning of Bingo. Here's a sampling: B2 gets called. Everyone sings out B2, B2, B2 B2 B2 be doobie doooo (like the Pink Panther theme). Someone yells Bingo and it's verified as a win? Everyone yells at him/her and points in unison "Bitch" and he/she responds "Thank you Honey." Hosts calls "O" all 300 people ask "O What?" and if the host calls "69" then everyone gets up and does their best Spirit Fingers impression and yells "OOOOOOHHH". Now that's one awesome group O face! ;) Seriously it's a hoot and soooo much fun. Convinced on joining in on the fun? Here are the details- Bingo is hosted every second Saturday of each month (except July & August). The site advertises that the event starts at 7 pm and doors open at 6 pm. However you will want to get there early to ensure you get a seat. Show up between 5 and 6 pm to get a tickets that will gaurentee you entry (if you enter by 615pm). Seriously, this place sells out nearly every time and well ahead of the 7pm start. Besides you want to enter the building before 7 pm to get your seat next to your friend(s) because it's slim pickings by 630 pm and you want to get a head start on the special bingo game played before the 7pm start. Purchase the $20 bingo special when you enter. The games go fast and the $20 package ensures you can play for the whole 2 hours. Parking is brutal if you show up late. Don't be that guy. This is a dry event...imbibe all you want before you show up. There is no alcohol served here, it's hosted at a church! There is a concession stand with pizza, soda, etc.
