Had a black widow problem. I was bugged out! At first I saw cotton ball like eggs near my front door. Later, I saw black widow spiders crawling from my weep screed. One night after walking my dog I killed 5 of them with a bug zapper. I have a cat a dog and 2 young kids so after some internet research on these venemous little suckers, I knew it was time to exterminate them. I found Everguard via Yelp and called them immediately, they advised using some rubbing alcohol and spraying it in the areas where I saw the eggs and webs. I tried this and it did not work. I called them and begged them for the next appointment which was at the end of the week. Phil showed up as scheduled and even called to tell me when he was on his way. He sprayed the exterior of my home and a bathroom where I saw some webs. The spray smelled like some medicinal herbal medicine my grandma used (it didn't smell bad at all). Immediately the spiders and other bugs including brown widows, pincher bugs and carpenter ants came out of the wood work and shriveled up and died. It was so satisfying! We had a swarm of bees take shelter in a drainage pipe in our house. We called Philip and he responded personally with great advice. He said it would be best to wait a day. We were concerned that we had bedbugs because my son's girlfriend's family had them. I called Phil and explained that my son had a few bites on his legs, but that I thought they could just be mosquito bites and perhaps we were just paranoid. Phil gave me some advice, told me what to look for, and did not at all try to sell his services to me. A few days later I was feeling really paranoid and I called Phil again and told him I just wanted him to come treat the house. I sent him a photo of a bug I found, certain that it was a bed bug. He wrote back and told me that it was just a centipede. Still, I was worried and I asked him to come out and inspect. And that I would pay the $150 inspection fee. He came over at 6:00 on a Friday night and did a thorough inspection and found no evidence of bed bugs. But he wouldn't accept any money from me. I so appreciate Phil's honesty and advice. He could tell I was freaking out and he never once tried to sell me something or convince me. We had ant problems nearly constantly for 2 years before we finally got tired of trying to battle them ourselves with home remedies, Terro baits, and trying to keep our house spotlessly clean. Totally not worth it! We paid $450 for a "one and done" treatment for our ant problem in June 2021. Phil came over with his sales pitch saying with his treatment we wouldn't have ants for a year under the warranty and most clients didn't have ants for two years. Well, just 3 months later, in September 2021 the ants were back. We contacted him and he asked for photos to prove that the ants had returned. (Why would we lie?) It's hard to get photos of ants but we did and we sent him videos. After a week, he returned and treated our property again. He complained about how expensive it was for him to do another treatment but he did it. The ants went away in the fall and winter but in May they started coming back. We were dealing with illnesses in the family so I wasn't able to reach out to him again before the contract expired in June. By August we had a full blown ant problem again, worse than before. I sent him a text stating I was disappointed the treatment didn't last longer, especially since our last treatment was less than a year ago. I was hoping he could clue us in to what had gone wrong. Instead, he got very defensive. He said we should have gone with the two year warranty. What??? We paid way too much to begin with and his defensive attitude and is no way to treat customers. Unfortunately what Everguard used didn't work. We were having a spider and silverfish problem. Phil came out and drenched the inside of our home with a root beer /Ben gay smelling liquid. When I say drenched, I mean it. We had pools of it under the washer and around the baseboards. The smell was supposed to go in a couple of days but lasted over a week. In about a month the silverfish and spiders returned. We have gone back to traps. We just did not want to have pools of that stuff around again and breathe it. It is rare that I review a business two years after using it, but this is one of those cases where it absolutely must be done. I understand some people have had issues with Phil not showing up, but let me say this: if your problem is ants, CALL HIM ANYWAY. You don't lose anything if he doesn't come, but if he does come, as he did promptly for me, you will never regret it. By the time I called Phil, I had already used another exterminator, who was talking about monthly visits even though his first visit hadn't made a dent in our absolutely insane ant population. I was living in misery. I couldn't put down an open can of soda between sips without finding ants crawling on it when I picked it back up. I found ants crawling on my sleeping 4-week old baby. I was literally hysterical. I can't remember why I decided to call Phil, but he came exactly when he promised to come, and he told me that he would basically bring the antpocalypse, all with no harm or inconvenience to my baby or toddler. I was willing to believe anything at this point. All I have to say is this: since the day he came and went, I have not seen one ant. NOT ONE. In two years. My healthy two-year-old daughter has only ever seen ants in pictures. Whatever Phil did is probably a disaster for the local food chain, and I don't know how he's going to stay in business if his customers never call him back, but I am selfish and do not care.
