We stayed at this campground from the end of July through beginning of September. I've never experienced an owner of a campground quite like Jimi. We where promised a site until mid October come to find out they over booked the site we where on and moved us to the bowels of the campground right beside a very busy bridge over pass it was so loud my dog would shake. We decided to pull out due to many things at the end of the day they tried to price gouge us at the end with about 35 days left. When I told him I was leaving his comment was oh is the price to high and then he went on to say in front of his mother in law that I look like I have money. We enjoyed the restaurant that was there but they also bailed out. I would not recommend this campground to anyone we miss the old owners. read more

I only drive by it, but it looks pleasant enough. It is alongside the Kennebec River. It is nearby my favorite local restaurant, The Solon Hotel. There is a grocery right across from the restaurant. You can get gas at Griswalds too. So it's very convenient. read more

I loved every minute that I was here. this is a work in progress with wonderful new owners as of last year. I rented a small cabin with a very nice bathroom. there is no kitchen, but I have all my camping gear from years past. on weekends there is a restaurant There are pictures on their website that will make you drool! The cabins are right on the Kennebec River where the fishing is well known. The cabin has a covered porch with table and chairs. I was able to sit out comfortably even in alight rain. it is a short distance from both Skowhegan and BiIngham. The prices are very reasonable especially for families. The campground looks very nice too with the sites right on the river. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here as long as possible! read more

Evergreens Campground has a few pros and cons. Pros: Campground and trailer sites are directly next to the beautiful Kennebec River. Sites are spacious and very level. Scenery is wonderful. The owners are new and very nice. Cons: Campground is noisy beyond belief. There is a main road alongside and directly across from the campground. Every Local Yokel /Hick that has a noisy truck or stock car, finds it necessary to punch their engines and race down the road. The noise at times was liking being at a racetrack; it was awful. It ruined the tranquility of the campground. The bath house/ restrooms at the campground are very antiquated and extremely hot inside due to poor ventilation. Also, there are no locks on the stall doors which I found very uncomfortable. Locks are cheap at the store. I have no idea why they don't replace the missing locks? The campground has no sewage hookups at the sites, you must use the dump station. All in all we had a nice weekend. I'm sure the new owners will make the necessary upgrades and improvements over time. read more

The family that runs this campground is extremely friendly and gracious. A couple of the previous reviews are extremely incorrect..however, I'm sure huge groups of party-goers would be discouraging. If the owners were not upset by it, other guests would be. read more

This place is one big lie. Not only are the cabins way closer together than they advertise, they'll scam you outta your money if you try to bring a group in. And this 'friendliness' they're talkin about in their fake reviews and website? Not happening. Not a thing. My 3rd experience at the Evergreens Campground was as pleasurable as the last two times. Clean bathrooms, Friendly people, Lovely surroundings and good food. Recommend as an inexpensive place to stay and enjoy Maine camp life. Thanks, Don Camden read more

The experience I had at Evergreen Campground this weekend was a disaster. We went with my in-laws to visit my sister-in-law at her paid campsite. The greeting at the front desk was gruff but we paid our visitor's fee and ventured to the campsite. We were having a grand old time eating beans and hot dogs in the rain when two additional friends arrived. The owner of the campground came down to the campsite and told my sister-in-law that she had too many (PAID!!) visitors at her site and in order for the two friends to come down people needed to leave. Please keep in mind that it was 6:30 at night and we were eating beans and hot dogs and enjoying a campfire. Not a keg party here, a family get together! The situation was completely mishandled and the result had two kids in tears and my sister-in-law so upset that she packed up and left that night. Also-two friends tried to go out for breakfast at the restaurant last weekend after seeing an advertisement in the paper. They were told "the ad is wrong we start serving in an hour." AVOID this place if you want to enjoy the Maine countryside. The only thing this place has going for it is the river frontage, unfortunately for them Maine has a lot of rivers and a lot of campgrounds. read more

I don't find that Neil is in the minority. My boyfriend and our kids arrived intending to stay for two nights. On the map you are given at the front desk is a brief set of rules, one of them being quiet time from 9 p.m. Understandable, it's great to be courteous to neighbors in such a cramped campground. We kept the noise down until we all decided to call it a night, shortly before 10 p.m. We could hear an inebriated woman screaming off and on for almost four hours. My daughter and I used the restroom around 11:30 p.m. and could hear an intoxicated man yelling as well. My daughter was so scared she told me she didn't want to stay another night and slept in my tent with me. Mind you, she's 12 and not prone to being skittish or frightened without good reason. We decided to pack it in the next morning and my boyfriend headed to the front desk and explained why were leaving early. The owner all but called him a liar, stating that *none* of her seasonals (guests who return year after year) would put up with this and the noise *couldn't* be coming from her campground. She told my boyfriend that there is a number on the map to call with issues, and he explained to her that none of the three cell phones we have were receiving service, to which she replied, "Cell phones work everywhere." The tent camper across the way from us told us he had seen one of the older ladies the previous afternoon, "totally hammered" (his exact words) When we finished packing up, I also stopped into the office to let the owner know that the noise and fighting were bad enough to make my daughter beg to leave the next day. Again, couldn't possibly be from her campground. She mentioned the number to call as they are on-site 24 hours and I showed her my phone and told her, as my boyfriend already had, that none of our phones were working at the site. She proceeded to name off all of the seasonals staying in the RVs and how it couldn't be any of them. I suppose it's nice to foster loyalty to regular customers by overlooking the fact that they are human, too, and also make mistakes. No need to make a new customer feel unwelcome by speaking to them in such a condescending manner. I'll be sure to mention our treatment to anyone who mentions they're going camping in the future. read more

I have stayed at Evergreens Campground for the past 3 years. I find the owners and workers very friendly and helpful. If you have an issue. They are right there to help you out. It is a great place to rest . If you love to ATV ride or fish or just relax. This is the campground for you. It wont bust your wallet either like other campgrounds. They have a great buffet on the weekend. I find that the only issues are caused by campers who think they can break the rules.. I highly recommend this place for a nice get away . Cant wait til my next visit. Like any other campground I have been to in my 35 yrs of camping. You have good people camping and bad people camping. The bad will always say something to cover up what they really did. They must be doing something right for me to travel 5 hours to go camping there since 2009. read more

Well if you are unfortunate enough to stumble upon this place beware. If you enjoy being at an rv park this is your place. You wont have more than 10 feet of space between you and your neighbors, the "campsites are spacious enough for any R.V. and separated to give privacy to tenters."(straight from their website) is a pile of number 2. First let me give you some background, i called 2 times before making a deposit asking about the "campsites are spacious enough for any R.V. and separated to give privacy to tenters." Both times i got a different person both assuring me it is indeed spacious, private etc. Upon further review of the campground i decided to google search reviews on the campground itself through numerous reputable travel sites. The few i did find were either good reviews for the cabins (which to there credit i have no idea how they are, they could be wonderful for all i know), or were identical to the experience we had. For example, the campground is run by a husband wife duo, no big issue other than the fact that they run shuttles for canoes(there second source of income) every half hour. Somehow it takes the 2 of them, and now there isnt anyone on the campground in charge, in the office, or doing anything for that matter. So when we showed up at 1:45 to check in, they were out doing shuttles. After waiting 45+minutes for someone to come check us in, Lorena the owner shows up. She finally lets us in, and again i ask her about the sites. Muttering something to the effect of yes they are, i handed her my credit card and we were all set to camp at site 2 right on the water. So we get to site 2 and see that there is maybe 6 sites stacked right on one another no more the 60 feet from end to end. So we drove back to the office and stated to her that was everything that we didnt want, first thing out of here mouth was "well you already paid so its out my hands now". I informed her that i called twice and even before i paid her that i was told the "campsites are spacious enough for any R.V. and separated to give privacy to tenters." After arguing with these scuzzbuckets for 5 minutes, having her practically laying on my car like it was hers, and demanding a refund after basically driving in to see that our site was everything that it wasnt she says we have to stay one night and that she will refund a day. At which point she also said they were leaving for another shuttle. After calling around a bit we ended up finding a much better campground at Two Rivers Campground in skowheagan. Meanwhile they ended up going back into the office and staring at us as if we were about to set the place on fire. So i walked in to get my refund for the day, and say screw the night that i paid for at this dumpsite, i would rather stay elsewhere. The husband met me at the door and asked if i was all set, i told him i wanted to get my refund for the day and cut my loses. He walked over to the door to get into it and said yea ill give it to you in the morning. I looked at him and said no, you give me money back now. He responded with no im keeping your card on file so we can make sure the campsite is all set in the morning. I responded with no, you are giving me my money back, and we wont be here in the morning for you to give it to me, we probably arent staying. Knowing that he had no choice he gave me my refund. All while telling me how big the sites are and that this is the first complaint they have ever had about anything. I looked at him and said you must not have the internet. He said why, i responded with look up your campground reviews and find out for yourself. So all in all if you like bullsh*t go here, its full of it. read more

The experiences I've had at the Evergreens Campground have been wonderful! I recently stayed there in a tent that were nestled in the pine trees just like tent sites always are at any campground you go to in Maine not to mention its called "Evergreens" so of course theres going to be trees everywheres. There is plenty of room between the campsites and there is privacy between tenters and RV people. Using the kayaking rental service was great one of the owners showed my friend and I exact pictures of what to look for when you get closer to the boat landing so you hopefully won't get lost. The breakfast buffet was good. There was plenty of food there to eat so nobody would go hungry. I also found out that it is very educational there, the owners are very knowledgeable about the history there with the Indians and the artifacts that have been dugged up there. All and all it was very pleasant there with friendly staff and a nice environment and I would defiantly be going back. read more
