We had need to get a dead 130'ish ft. douglas fir tree removed from our front yard. I got quotes from several companies and, while I was impressed with the obvious knowledge and ability of all of them, I chose to go with Evergreen Tree Services. They gave me a price quote that was low enough that I felt the other companies who did price matching would likely not be willing to match. They also went out of their way to make sure I knew exactly how they were going to do the removal because it was a large tree in a very challenging location. The team had arrived a few hours later than they planned due to vehicle trouble that was beyond their control but they still finished the entire removal task in one visit, chipped up all the limbs, cut up the sections of the tree into reasonable sized pieces, and did an excellent job cleaning up once they finished. I absolutely recommend them and will most likely be calling them again for any future tree trimming or removal needs. read more

What a great experience with Evergreen! We just moved into our new home and the backyard had 6 trees and a towering fir tree whose roots were everywhere, making it impossible for anything to grow. Evergreen had been pruning my 50 foot maple for a few years so when it was time for it to be cut down due to the extensive damage it was doing to the sidewalk I of course called them. Because the roots were so massive I advised that the concrete company would be removing the sidewalk first so the tree guys could get to all of the roots and do the grinding. First, they did get the tree down and ground one stump but no roots. My contract also noted root removal, but they covered up the roots with all of the shavings. They came back out to remove a couple more roots which was great....after my friends and I cleared out what they covered up with the shavings. Then they refused to do the big root by the water meter main box stating it was a liability. So I paid 2200 for partial work and paid another 900 to another company to remove the huge pile of shavings and the extra root that Evergreen did not remove. They did it by hand in less than an hour. What gets me is the arborist came out first to inspect and took pictures so they were well aware of what they were working with from the get go. They should not have accepted this job if they could only get 3/4 of it done. Very disappointed. A 2 day job took me weeks and endless calls to get this done. I do not recommend them at all anymore but I had in the past. I give them 1 star because they are good at tree pruning. read more

Looking at all the other reviews, I wonder if we had bad luck with the crew that came. My neighbor's mom recommended them highly, and I read up on them on yelp beforehand. The fellow who came to do the estimate was knowledgeable. An older man \did the trimming in the large trees, and his work was OK, though he made a couple of ugly cuts; in a few, the stump of the limb sticks out from the trunk instead of being cut flush with the trunk. The ground crew was led by a young man who was nice, but not particularly in charge of the situation or aware of surrounding plants, hedges and trees. I had to run out a couple of times to be sure they didn't let large limbs fall on the small firs that edge our pond. They also broke off the tops of several bamboo when they used them to lower branches from a nearby maple. The crew seemed to be in a hurry to finish as fast as possible. They just lopped off the branches of our deadora pine. But the worst work was the guy who butchered the pin oak in our front yard. The plan was to limb it up a bit and cut it back from the porch roof. I went out once to ask the him not to leave the heavy branches lieying on the shrubs underneath. They looked like they were going to break. The pin oak looked good, and I thought he was done. A few minutes later, I noticed more big branches crushing the same shrubs and stepped out to find he had kept limbing up the oak. It looks like a lollipop now. My husband was crushed, and I just try not to look at it. When I called the office to complain, the woman answering the phone was sympathetic and said she'd send one of their supervisors around to see what they could do. Well, there's nothing to be done. But it would have been nice if he had carried through and come by. read more

$1,450 to remove a dead tree from my front yard, and trim back the other tree. They left ENORMOUS trunk rounds (seriously a few hundred pounds each) just lying in my front yard. After calling them repeatedly requesting that they at least cut them into smaller pieces so I could move them, someone came by while I was at work and cut only the largest ones in half. Awesome, so now they only weigh 200lbs. Totally manageable for me and my massive upper body strength to handle. So now it's more of a total of $1650 because I have to buy my own friggin chainsaw to finally finish the job about a month and a half after the fact. read more

After getting multiple bids to remove 10 overgrown trees on our property line, we decided to use Evergreen. They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive but their estimator took the time to discuss the job. The team spent all day removing them and the following day the stump grinder came. It was a tricky stump grind as they were right next to our deck. He did a great job of getting within a couple inches of the deck without damaging a thing. I hired this crew to cut down two small-ish trees in my yard (the trunks were maybe 8" in diameter, and both were about 20' tall). I also asked if they would be willing to give me a truck full of shredded tree bits, as tree care companies are often as eager to get rid of their haul without expense as gardeners are to get a huge heap of mulch at no expense. Eddie said that, since i'd almost certainly be the last stop of the day, they could just dump what they had. I said that'd be great. The crew came, cut down my trees quickly and efficiently, then left. I'd been summoned to pick up a sick child, so i was not there to ask why they were leaving without emptying their truck on my driveway. When i called to pay by phone, i asked the woman i talked to if it would still be possible to get a truckload of chipped wood, she said she'd call the owner and ask. I never heard back from her. So five stars for being fast, efficient, and clean, leaving no trace but two ground stumps that my trees had ever been there. Minus one star for not following through on the offer of free tree bits and not even calling me back about it. read more

We had 9, 30+ foot Portuguese laurels along 2 sides of our property. All fine and well if they aren't let wild for 30 plus years. Unfortunately they had to go, so they had to be removed and the stumps ground. One quite large. We had several bids, this was the best by far. They crew was amazing. Punctual, precise, and polite. They knocked out the work with no damage to property or plants. Some of the work was over power lines and both our and our neighbor's rooflines. The following work day the stumps were ground. I hired Evergreen to clean up the hack job Timber*** Tree Service did on three of my trees. Not only did Evergreen do an amazing job cleaning up they also thinned and further trimmed my two ginormous sweet gums trees. I have hated those tress for the past 13 years but they did such a beautiful job that I almost cried with joy. All of my neighbors have positively commented on them as well. In addition to this they took down and hauled away a dead tree in the back and trimmed another tree away from my roof. The only reason I'm giving them a three.. is because the team that came to my house was amazing - deserving a five star! When I called to set up the apt, the lady booking was extremely hesitant. Didn't wanna book an afternoon. She said.. "well I hope they will come." She booked the morning appointment and called me the day of stating they couldn't make it because of equipment malfunction. I explained my day off and how EXTREMELY hard it was to get them... she said, "I'll see what I can do." Next the estimator called me.. trying to sell me with 5% off or a reschedule (telling me how highly competitive his bid was.) I told him how p*** I was and an explanation of what I do for a living and how important it was for today! Nothing..nothing..nothing.... then they show up! Great team!! Good job! Amazing workers. Shitty booking and shuffle! If ya can't do the job because "we are on the other side of town and this was only an hour job. It's gonna take us twice as long to get home.." kinda day. Arborist showed up, and quickly marked up the 5 tree's that needed to be removed. 4 weeks later their 4 man crew showed up at 8am as expected, downed 2 large tree's, 1 medium tree, and 2 decorative shrub tree's by 11:30 and had them chopped/chipped and hauled away. They had to take my fence apart to drop the 2 large tree's, but they put it all back together properly and you cant even tell they were here other than some sawdust near the stumps and the 5 missing tree's. It was quite the sight to see them drop such a large tree perfectly between a 6' opening in my fence. Price was considerably lower(about 20%) than others quoted and seemed more realistic for the job that was requested. Wouldn't hesitate to use again. read more

I left a bad review last week because I felt we did not get the service we paid for and was told we would have to pay more for a branch that was not completely cut off. I was contacted by the General Manager when he found out we were not happy and he immediately came out to finish the removal and I would like to take back my bad review. I do not think the review was wrong at the time but now that I can see they care about the work they do and the impression they leave, I am very happy with the company. I honestly did not expect to be contacted at all. This does not often happen and I am amazed they cared about one silly customer complaint. They obviously care and I would recommend them based on that fact. I am all for supporting small businesses so I am very happy this worked out the way it did. Evergreen Tree Services did a great job of grinding and removing the stump of a very large pine tree we had to cut down (it had been killed by beetles). They had equipment that was small enough to make the turn through the gate, and powerful enough to do the job. They sent someone a few days ahead of time to verify the location of gas and electric lines (which I had not thought about!), and then showed up on time to grind the stump, and did a thorough job. We hired Evergreen to take down a tree in our yard and had paid extra to have them cut and stack the wood. They took the wood without cutting or stacking it. 4 phone calls in 4 weeks we still have no wood, but we were promised a delivery in each call, nothing has arrived and no word from the company on the ETA or refund for services not performed. For those who won't read the entire review, here is the summary first - The bid was less than expected, the work was better than expected, the clean up was exceptional. Polite crew, office staff and field estimator was easy to speak with and helpful. Too bad there are only five stars. Review Detail: We had some large and medium size trees that needed trimming back and some very large Doug over hanging branches to remove from above the roof. Very good first impression with the estimator, Diane, who came by to access what we needed. She knows her stuff. Pleasant, clear and listened to my thoughts. The crew showed up the next week as scheduled. They were just a bit early, always a good sign, and brought all the equipment they needed the first time, another good sign. After confirming what they were here to accomplish, they went right to work. After about ninety minutes into the job, I observed a few branches I felt were still too long. Even though they had moved the equipment and were working on the other side of the yard, the foreman simply smiled and said, no problem. Not sure when or how, but when they finally finished, it was done as I asked. Once the job was complete, they cleaned up exceptionally well. My yard was cleaner than when they arrived.
