Bahara's seemed like the best choice and was local so I called last Friday. On Tuesday Juan showed up on schedule and dropped a honest 1/2 cord of all oak at the house. Nice and dry with about 70% of it being clean grained and easy to spit for the smoker. The pieces with knots and crotches make great wood for the fireplace of the beach. I was really pleased with the amount Juan delivered. Two years ago we got shorted by some gentlemen coming out of the Escalon area with Almond. The almond burned well, but it was nowhere near the 1/2 cord I paid for. Quick and professional, I'll be back next time I need oak.

Now, after college, I earned money delivering wood from a wood yard in Richmond. Wholesale wood deliveries come from different sources, sometimes well seasoned, sometimes not as much. It is always best to purchase wood in the summer months and let it dry. (It is not realistic to purchase wood with the expectation that it will be ready to burn when you get it - if you want that, then buy the overpriced small boxes at the supermarket!) This is an art which requires patience, that is how it works. The wood was always cut to the expected size, split properly, and came from stacks that are measured with a guide wire so you always get the amount you expect. These folks are professional and do the job right!
