Visited this restaurant for the first time today while visiting mountain high with the family. It's a cute small mom and pop shop with really cozy decorations on the ceiling. We ordered the Philly cheese steak sandwich, BBQ ribs, salad, fries and onion rings. Food was delicious and service was great. read more

You must visit Evergreen Cafe when in the Wrightwood area and wanting a cozy cabin restaurant vibe. We decided to give Evergreen Cafe a try after a half day of snowboarding at Mountain High. We arrived at around 1:30pm on a Sunday and there was indoor and patio seating readily available and of course we opted for outdoor seating as it was a beautiful sunny day. Our server, April, was extremely attentive and helpful from beginning to end and made our experience enjoyable. We ordered the chicken strips and buffalo chicken strips from the starters menu ($7.95 each), a side of fries ($4.99) to share, and a hot coffee ($3.49). Our food was served hot and quick and everything tasted delicious. Literally just what we needed after a morning on the slopes. It was lovely sitting on the patio and enjoying the picturesque views of the surrounding area. The food was comforting and delicious, the prices were reasonable, and the ambiance was perfect for the environment. I loved having lunch at Evergreen Cafe! read more

A very uncaring hostesses. We went and added our name in the wait list. The hostess told us a wait time of 35-40 minutes. We went back after 40 minutes and the hostess told us again that the wait time will be another 45 minutes. I asked her why, there were only 3 tables occupied and the rest of the tables empty. She kept saying that they were reserved but I noticed that people never occupied them. I decided to go somewhere and she never called us back to let us know what finally our waiting time was over. So , I don't know how others will call this behavior. read more

My daughter and her boyfriend are hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and were stopping in Wrightwood for a day or two to rest. We drove up to meet them for a quick visit and to have breakfast. We were told that this was the best breakfast place in town and it did not disappoint. Four of us ordered breakfast and one person in our party had a burger. Everything came out quickly. I was happy with my omelette and home fries. Everything tasted delicious. I have never seen meatloaf on a breakfast menu, but they had meatloaf and eggs or a meatloaf omelette. One of my daughters ordered meatloaf and eggs and was very happy with her choice. It is tiny inside but seats a lot of people. There is a counter as well. They accommodated our party of five with a booth and a table next to it. Service was quick. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. It gets crowded, so be prepared to wait. There is a lot of parking in town on the street by the restaurant. If you ever find yourself in Wrightwood, be sure to stop in and give it a try! read more

This resturant is cozy and nestled in the Wrightwood Mountains. I love this establishment and so will you. When I walked in the door we were greeted by "Andy" whose real name happens to be Andrea. She is an amazing hostess and waitress. She immediately made me feel special. She has a great sense of humor. I met the owner as well and I hear from her employees that she decorates the resturant regularly. Christmas decor was still up when we arrived. Upside down Christmas trees. Owls that fly up and down when the front door opens. So many decorations to look at and enjoy. We sat outside in 56 degree weather. It felt so good. We patiently waited for our order. We ordered a 1/3 burger, on sourdough with cheese, onions, with their special sauce, delicious french fries that melted in my mouth. We order a pancake as well, yummy! Also, potatoes with bell peppers and onions, breakfast sauce with friend egg on top. Please be patient during the busy hours like breakfast time. You'll be happy that you take your time and free your mind of stress, and the cares of the world. The menu has a variety of choices and accommodates everyone's palette. the cutest little breakfast joint! this was me and my family's first time in big bear so we weren't familiar with the area. we walked around the town and saw this food place. as soon as we came in we were greeted by the biggest sweetheart. there were only two servers and they did a great job! i ordered the french toast with eggs and sausage. it tasted sooo amazing! i also got a strawberry lemonade, wasn't too big of a fan of it but still pretty good. the inside has about four booths, three tables and a countertop. it was filled with christmas and valentines decorations, it felt so cozy. me and my family absolutely loved this spot and i give this an 11/10 for service + food! read more

This review is strictly based on greeting and initial service. We couldn't rate the food because we didn't feel welcome and didn't stay enough to try it... Our first visit to Wrightwood and we called ahead to see what the wait-time was for a party of 6. We were looking forward to grab a bite at a cute local spot in the village. We were told there was no wait, so we headed over from around the corner and got there in 5 minutes. When we arrived, we were told it'd be 10-15 minutes, as the group at the table being gestured was finishing up. Fine; no problem. We put our name down. We walked around the neighboring shops and 10 minutes later, we popped our heads back in. The previous group was gone and the table was not cleaned. A smaller group who came in after us was also sat. Fine. We waited another 5+ minutes and took pictures outside. We peeked in again. Table still wasn't bussed. Two male-staffers were talking towards the back. When we inquired again about the table and wait, the female waitress barked, "I'm here alone today!" WOW. Bye, Felicia. I've been a server before. You don't take your feelings of frustration or being overwhelmed out on the customers. It's simple: "Sorry; we're short-staffed today. We'll be with you as soon as we can." That's all it takes. We would've stuck around. I'm sure our $200+ tab and $45-tip that we spent at the next cafe would've made the grumpy waitress' day a lot better. We know why you were alone that day, Flo. The service and the food was great. You just have to be patient with the wait if any to be sat down and waited on. They have a full bar attached but it's not in the menu. I ordered the Bigfoot breakfast which was a large country fried steak, eggs and hash browns. I also ordered the raccoon warmer drink and a Bloody Mary. My wife ordered the corned beef hash breakfast. So, I know this place is sort of an institution and local and tourists alike enjoy this place for a stop over. I too have been here when riding ACH and needed a quick fill up. I look forward to my visits and I always sit outside because the tables are large and the scenery is calming. However, I can't say that the food or the service or the drinks here are really good. This place is more quantity over quality but that isn't to say that anything here is bad. It's just food. Eggs benedict are thin and lack depth, but then again, they do taste like they just came from your kitchen so it's nothing fancy. It's eggs, ham, dry english muffin, and some sauce. Chicken fried steak is massive and will fill you up at least two times over, but you'll get bored before you get full. The gravy is good though and it'll mix well with your eggs and hashbrowns. Hashbrowns are crispy. Eggs are fresh. Coffee is wretched. OJ is concentrated and taste like Tropicana more than actual oranges. Pancakes are good but a little chewier than I prefer. Biscuits and gravy are decent. Service is usually perfunctory so don't expect anything other than what's necessary to get you fed. Prices are fair. Dining area inside is cramped and kitschy. Dining area outside is limited but comfortable. 3 out of 5 but I'll continue to be a semi-regular whenever I head up ACH. read more

Hubby and I have eaten at this cute café several times over the years, usually combined with a trip to Cajon Pass to watch trains. We have loved the cafe's ambience, food and service in the past. This year it seemed different. The service was good , the Spring decor cute (the owls hanging from the ceiling were a little dusty, tho), and the food was plentiful, as always. Unfortunately, the food seemed a little less yummy/fresh than in past years. Also, the window and sill next to our table were dirty and a couple of annoying flies were buzzing around our table while we ate. It was disappointing. We will give it another try when we're in the area and hope our next visit will be better. read more

We would give zero stars for BAD service if it were a option. We called to make sure they accepted dogs and were told that they do in the patio. We get there and there is a 45 min wait. We waited the 45min and then the server comes out (with an attitude from the very beginning- her name was Lainey) saying that they can't serve us in the patio because they now have people in the bar area and so no one can take the food to the patio. She gave no option so we suggested if we can order get the food ourselves when its done and eat in the patio( we had been there almost a hour by that time), she said fine and left- didn't come to take our order, didn't say how to order, she said nothing just turned around and left with her attitude! The decor was absolutely adorable! Everything was clean, the waitresses were SO NICE!! They were quick with taking orders and bringing out the food. The food was fresh and tasty! It seems as though the Evergreen Cafe has been around for a lifetime. It's the small-town atmosphere and the friendly staff that give it that feeling. I'm actuality, the location of the Evergreen Cafe has been around for over 60 years. They are a family owned and operated restaurant with desire to provide a down-home feeling, a friendly place to gather and enjoy a hearty meal with great service, is a tradition they carry on. They change decorations regularly with the on going events of the Town of Wrightwood and this action exemplifies what Wrightwood is all about a small town with a big heart . Currently they have pretty cool hot wheels hanging from the ceilings so it appears to have a "Cars" theme. Pretty cool. The place is small however the joyous expresion on people's and staff faces makes me feel comfortable and happy. Truly spirit of happiness here abounds and that in turn helps me see past slight imperfections. They respect and love first responders and military the items on the wall depict that. This place definitely gives you the God, Country, and Family feels. Now for the the portions are excellent they will leave you satisfied. They will be happy to pack up what you do not finish up. Their efficiency is just as excellent as the flavor. They have a cool bar seating spot so if you come alone there will be a seat just for you. We came here today when our usual restaurant had a 2 hour wait. When we decided to order some food to-go, we were pleasantly surprised. The burgers and onion rings were so good here! My husband ordered the BBQ Chicken Salad. He really liked his salad! Covered with tender, delicious chicken, he said this salad was really good. I was so hungry and really craving that burger and onion rings. The burger was cooked to perfection and the lettuce, tomato, and onions were fresh and delicious! Those onion rings were great too. They were so yummy that we finished them in a flash. My son ordered the kids' chicken tenders and thought this was good too. We're so glad we found this little restaurant. Second time here today came with a friend last time service was awesome (love the older blonde lady with the glasses she is my favorite). I had the ribs this time my husband had a "Mountain Man" plate with biscuits and gravy the biscuits and gravy are my favorite. The ribs were so tender and slathered with sweet bbq loved it. Had to save room for my favorite thing though, it's the reason I drive up from San Bernardino and that's the Blackberry Cobbler a la mode. Soo good and they don't add too much sugar to where it's overly sweet, it's just right with plenty of fruit and the crust is moist but crispy on the top.
