I am not one for invasive sales associates, but zero effort was made at this store. I asked two associates at the counter whether they had other bras in the same size and style (different pattern). It was like crickets. They did not show me any other options or even point me to where they were. At that point I knew more about them than they did. I also asked if they had a pair of pants in the same size and waistband but a wider leg. Again, they had no clue what they carried and what they didn't. These were basic black pants that they always carry, not a weird line or style. I gathered up the things I had planned on buying, and their cash register system was down. No apologies. I asked if they had any coupons. They didn't know. The entire experience was frustrating because it was quite obvious they did not want to be there. I left the store without purchasing anything and bought what I wanted online.

I had the gift receipts for both, but couldn't remember which receipt, went for which sweater. So my wife took both sweaters (and gift receipts) back in to the store I purchased them from, with the intent to either replace the non-fitting sweater or receive the amount I paid for it. She was met with extremely poor customer service by a "mature employee" (probably close to my age) and was given a hard time and down right rude attitude to her, about returning the sweater. I shopped at Talbots, because at one time they were a very reputable store, apparently this is no longer true. My wife was so upset, that when she came home, she said she would no longer shop there again; and asked that I do the same. In this day and age of struggling economy, you would think a store of items priced as they are, would put forward a better customer service attitude to retain clients. Unfortunately, not only did they loose my wife's future purchases, but mine also, going forward.
