I'm so surprised to see the rating so low! I always have a great experience here. I haven't sold here for a bit, but the shopping experience was great when I went in yesterday. I love Plato's next door, and as I've gotten older have found more items that fit my more mature style at Style Encore. My mom and I enjoy shopping here. The items are reasonably priced for good quality secondhand: I got a pair of Old Navy sandals for $6 and a pair of like new Nike tennis shoes for $30. My mom got three tops, all ranging from $6-9 and super cute + in great condition. I love how organized the store is, the frequent 70% clearance items, and the quality of brands. You can always find high end shoes and bags here! In my opinion, this Style Encore is leagues above the Clothes Mentor and other stores we have in the Twin Cities as far as cleanliness, quality and price. read more

They have a sign out what they need. You bring it to them and they don't want anything. So, I decided to try one more time with new items like Nike, Northface and they didn't take anything and told me it's because some items are worn, dated and peeling. Nice try Style Encore! You made me laugh today and you lost another customer. Also, there should be professional help that you hire. read more

I've taken clothes in there twice. The 2nd time I stood in an isle & watched the young lady go thru the clothes I brought in. She barely looked at the jeans which were in like new condition. Some mod the shirts, both men & women's were also in great condition. She was doing more talking to a co-worker than losing her job. This place is a joke, along with Plato's Closet, which I have had the same experience with. I won't be going back ever again read more

Please help me understand why style encore has a board out front, telling you what they are looking for? Yet, you give them new items and give them exactly what they are asking for and spend a hour an a half waiting for 3 items that they give you for $9? The items they chose, are the most worn and out of styled things in the bag. Compared to the brand new heels, blazers, jeans, etc that was brought. Yet, right above the checkout area is a $100 tennis shoes that look very worn and are scuffed up on the side? Please help me understand! I swear, style encore is so picky about what they choose, and the items they take are not as nice. I hear them say so many times that items are worn, out of style, not brands they buy, etc. Don't lie and say items are out of date or are worn when I'm staring at a pair of worn tennis shoes right above your head. Otherwise, I like shopping here but it's still frustrating. read more

This was my first time here. It definitely smells like a consignment store. It reeked of stale house. As soon as I walked in I remembered why I am not a fan of the used clothing stores. Their brand are low end and the prices are a high for the brands they are peddling. I was not impressed. If you want inexpensive clothes go to TJ Maxx. read more

I stopped into this store when I was in town picking up some furniture nearby. Overall the store was pretty clean and organized. The sales associate Roxanne however was incredibly unprofessional and rude. She initially came up to me and asked if I needed a fitting room, I said no thanks. Then I asked her where the items on Instagram where; and she told me that she doesn't have an Instagram or social media. Then I asked the employees at the front and they directed me to where they put the social media post items. Then at checkout she was very rude when I asked if they had an item I had seen that was on Instagram, she told me once again that she didn't have instagram and that she didn't know. It was an overall very weird and strange experience and I will obviously not be returning. I think it really sucks that one sales associate ruined my first experience here. Also they do have an Instagram page. read more

Style Encore Des Moines - Women's Clothing Near Me - West Des Moines, Iowa

I was in town picking up a cake for my sons 13 birthday party and tried to make a speedy return on a defective 25 dollar Lululemon tennis skirt so I wouldn't miss their 7 day return policy. (the elastic was broken on the clothing) I was told that's just the way it is. The assistant manager, Rachel found great satisfaction in making me wait in the heat while I explained to her I had a cake in my car. Immature and icky staff inexperienced in current styles. Do not know high end merchandise whatsover and smelly inside like clothes are dirty. Will never set foot in there again. Staff would not put me in contact with a manager. read more

Closet cleaning time and I wanted to try to make a little bit of money before my items were donated. I've never consigned before or attempted to sell my clothing until a friend suggested Style Encore. I figured it was a safer bet rather Craig's list or Facebook market. My friend said they'll buy your clothes from you and pay you on the spot. I had a bagful of well kept clothing and accessories that included brands like Banana Republic, Zara, Coach, Jimmy Choo and Michael Kors. It's pretty easy; you walk in, they analyze your clothes, then they tell you what they'll buy from you. Out of all the items I presented them with, they only bought a navy blue Zara blazer from me for $7.40. They turned down the rest and gave me the reason: You have great clothes/brands but Corporate won't allow us to buy any more of those brands. I was even more surprised they turned down a near perfect pair of Jimmy Choos heels that included original box and dust bag. But, I was secretly happy they didn't because they ended back in my closet. My hubs would have a fit knowing I was willing to sell the shoes for next to nothing. The store is clean and nicely organized. It's easy to find your sizes and/ or colors you're looking for. While I didn't have any luck selling my clothes, I was able to find 2 pairs of designer jeans and a toggle coat that ended up being an additional 30% off! The three items were used, however, they were in great condition. From some of the items I looked through, the prices are your standard consignment prices. It's a steal to find near perfect designer jeans for $30 when they normally retail for $150 or more. For items from store like Gap, banana republic, Ann Taylor, I though they were high. Why would I buy a blouse or dress for $20 used, when I can find it brand new at the store for around the same price? Overall, I had a pretty good experience with Style Encore. I'll definitely be back to browse but not to sell again. read more

I really like Style Encore. Not only is their store really well organized but everything is clean and clearly labeled. There is no pushing through racks stuffed with clothes; it's just a really enjoyable shopping experience. The clothes and bags they accept are generally in really good condition. The prices are very fair. Like any thrift store, you might not find something every time, but it's definitely worth a stop occasionally. My two best finds here were a pair of new $150 Saucony running shoes for $11 and a few weeks back I found a faux fur pottery barn duffel for only $10. read more

Wow. We came to Des Moines for an Adventureland weekend but this store was our favorite part of our weekend. We stayed at the Drury Inn nearby and walked around and accidentally found this store. Oh my goodness. I wish Kansas City had this chain. My daughter and I both found some awesome deals (dresses, shoes, jewelry) brand name (Cole Haan, Dolche, etc) we both want to come back just for the shopping!!! My new favorite clothing store! I'm still in shock. read more

Very organized store and the staff is very pleasant. I have taken items in and also bought items there. Good selection and fair prices for items you give to them. Last time I dropped items off, they put the items that would sale better at Plato's Closet in a bag for me to just run to the store next door! That was so nice and saved us time!! Thank you! read more

I had loved a Style Encore in WI, and was excited to see one open in Des Moines. This one is a little bit more pricy than the one in the college town I went to, but it is in a more upscale location, and has more designer things-so you get what you pay for. One thing I like about THIS store is it even has a "clearance" section (no returns on clearance). I got a Vera Bradley Handbag for $13 (marked down from $18). read more
