So I decided that night to go back and try it on again to decide for sure and they said it was gone, it wasn't even 24 hours later. The owner of the store helped me this time and told me she could special order it and I asked about returns, since I wasn't sure about it and she said that I could get merchandise credit but they didn't give cash, I said fine because I could find something else to buy. Then she said they were having a trunk show from this designer in 2 weeks so I could wait for that and she wouldn't have to charge me shipping, but when I was looking on their website it said free shipping over 100.00, so it was for their benefit, not mine , another lie they told me. When I tried the dress on at home I decided it wasn't that flattering and I didn't want it, when I tried to take it back the 2 women working ,one of whod had helped me when I bought it, told me there were no returns on special orders, and the owner who had told me when I bought it that I could get store credit now said I could not return it at all. So they lost me permanently as a customer, I don't shop anywhere with such bad customer service and return policies, there are way to many other great stores to choose from, I really didn't even like the store very much it was hard to shop for me and you obviously can't trust what they say. I WILL NEVER GO BACK

Sometime around the year 2000 I feel like department stores in general sort of started turning downhill and no longer had the pizazz they used to carry in the 90s, Nordstrom however, seemed to move with the times and remain classy and elegant. I always loved coming here to go back to school shopping back in the early 2000s and honestly I'm happy to report that not a lot has changed (in a good way). This is still the best place to park and walk into Oak Park Mall, hands down. Nordstrom is still pristine, clean, and has this really nice scent to it? I don't know if that's nostalgia playing games on me from my HS days but it just feels nice to shop here. On the day I walked in recently I was on a mission to visit H&M to pick up some back to school staples for my 1st grader, but thought I'd check out the kids section here first just in case there was a steal on some mini boden or something. Their kids area is packed with adorable clothes, and while I did see some decent deals on the sale rack everything was a bit pricey for my regular back to school haul so I continued on to H&M. All that being said though, I still enjoyed shopping here and seeing what they had. It had been a long time since I'd taken the time to peruse at Nordstrom and I'll be back - it's still probably the best department store in the metro!
