Please excuse the digression, but I have to do it: If this is FAMOUS Footwear, what would be…read moreINFAMOUS Footwear? Maybe the Bruno Maglis OJ Simpson wore during his double murder? The one Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev banged on the lectern at the UN in 1960? The not one, but TWO shoes Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi threw a George W. Bush during a December 14, 2008 press conference? Anyhoo, while the Infamous Footwear store might be power-packed with history Famous Footwear has, obviously, all of the most famous (or, shall I say, popular) footwear brands. This location is at the Farmington mall known as Station Park. Let me use as sort of a litmus test my favorite brand, Vans. FF has the second most voluminous selection of Vans at Station Park ... the first is the actual Vans STORE there, so that's saying something. When you include stores like Zumiez, DXL, Tilly's, etc., also carrying Vans, it's pretty impressive ... and the prices are good. There's almost any brand any man, woman, or child would want. Nikes seem to be the most prevalent. Also a lot of Adidas, Converse, Roxy, Timberland, Birkenstock's, New Balance, Reebok, Crocs, Asics, Doc Martens, and Puma (just to name a few). If you have a kid or kids in tow, you may not escape without a new pair of light-up shoes. Famous Footwear is also teeming with countless types of shoes: athletic, hiking, and dress are the most prominent. And remember, they're NOT a SHOE store ... FOOTWEAR is part of their name. This means plenty of sandals, flip-flops, boots, slippers, and socks. Also, you will see them pushing brands that may be unfamiliar: Connie, Dr. Scholl's, Franco Sarto, Fergalicious, Naturalizer, and Sam Edelman. This is because FF's parent company owns these brands, and, in the case of Connie, is their own "private label". It's hard to review or compare chains as QC, inventory, and service are pretty-much going to be the same across the board. For chains like Famous Footwear--with excellent selection, prices, and customer service-- consistency is a great thing to have!

I went into the store to buy back to school shoes for my kids. The manager named Vickki Was awful…read more She was incredibly rude when I asked her to help us. I asked her if she had any shoes that were pink running shoes for my little girl. She looked at me and said that they didn't have any such shoe in their store then looked away. She didn't even try to find any shoes like this. I gave her two pairs of shoes they did have in their store and ask her if she could just see if they had my daughters size to which she said no she couldn't and she could not call any other stores because "this famous footwear doesn't call other stores for customers". So it looks like I am not shopping at famous footwear anymore if this is how they treat their customers. I kept trying to be kind but I'm pretty sure this lady is out to destroy any relationship anyone has with her store.

It seems that the only time I visit Station Park is in the dead of winter when the last thing I…read morewant to do is walk around outside where the air hurts my face. But I have yet to find myself here when it's nice outside, so I have a slightly biased perspective. That's on me though. Anyway, I love the variety of shops here and the layout is interesting-not like a boring linear mall where everything is one long, dreadful row of stores that goes on and on like a dull high school science teacher. No, this place has twists and turns, shops are broken up by beautiful water features or seating areas-things that encourage people to linger. Aside from the terrible weather-which admittedly, Station Park cannot control, the parking is tricky. There's something innate in the minds of Utahns that we have to be able to park directly in front of the store we are visiting. We don't prefer adjacent parking lots, and get grumpy if we have to walk anywhere more than a few feet. So if you're one of those people, you'll be disappointed to find that the parking areas are further out and the few spots that are near the stores are highly sought after. So, I'll wait for the weather to turn nice, park in the nearby lot and happily meander through the shopping area with coffee in hand, humming along to whatever cheerful music is playing on the speakers overhead.

I really like this mall. There are plenty of different shops and places to eat. We love to hang out…read moreby the fountain and watch the water show. Some of our favorite shops we stop at are It's Sugar and Rooster's Gourmet Popcorn (looks like Rooster's is gone now). We stopped at Twig's for martinis and they were delicious! We come here every year and see Santa. They have the absolute best Santa by far! He and Mrs. Claus are so sweet! You've got to follow them on Instagram (myfavoritesanta). The line to see them is crazy long though...and it's sooo cold. Be prepared to wait about 7 minutes per group. I wish they'd put some heaters next to the line. We love Santa, but I don't think we can wait in that line again next year without some kind of heat. As soon as we were done seeing Santa, we ran over to one of those standing heaters to warm up. One of my biggest complaints is that my phone doesn't work very well there. I was trying to see if Rooster's moved to another area at the mall, but I wasn't able to look up anything. For a while there, I couldn't text anyone either. It's a bit frustrating. All in all, we love this mall and visit a few times a year.

People think Vans they think shoes, as they should, but there's a lot more to it…read more Let's start with the other stuff. As with other Vans stores, this one outfits the cool kids with t-shirts and pocket tees, hoodies, quarter zips, tank tops, beanies, fleece, backpacks, rucksacks, water repellant gear, stretch pants, caps, jockey hats, board shorts, crew socks, sunglasses, wallets, belts, and the rest. Two important notes when it comes to this store and Van's stores in general: First, it not just for boys and men ... you'll find plenty of stuff for Women's sizes as well. Second, Vans isn't just for the skater crowd. It's got a large selection for snowboarder gear (including a killer line of boots) and surfers (although not much now in February at this snowy Utah location. And, of course, they've got plenty of Vans. When I say that it has more Vans shoes than any store at the Station Park mall, that's not totally a no-brainer: The nearby Zumiez with piles (literally) of Vans and a Famous Footwear with at least 20 Vans options. It definitely has more of the latest fashions from the Vans braintrust, and have other stores beat on the options of their famed (and original) checkerboard patterns. And their flexibility in sizes will make those bigfeeters (12+) happier than they will coming out of Zumiez or FF. As for the prices, I'm used to the Vans Outlet and Park City where I walk out with a pair for about $50. Most of those I liked were $65-100. Then again, this is the freshest gear; the hippest Vans fan will want to make their way to this location. Remember, Vans is "Off the Wall" ... not off the rack.

After a mix up with the payment method, I called customer service, who then assured me that the entire $40 late fee had been waived and I was left with a balance of $0 after paying off my card. Imagine my surprise when I opened a subsequent statement and there was a balance for the late fee and late fees for the late fee! What??? So I called CS again who at first told me there was nothing they could do, but then later in the call told me they could waive only $15 of the $31 fee. I said fine, I would like to pay that off now. Oh wait, they said, it is a $9 fee to pay it over the phone. Hold my beer while I pay it online I said. So I pay the new fee online, but the credit won't show for three days, and I tell them to cancel my card. She says she cancelled it but I see no confirmation of that in the account and she refuses to send me a confirmation email. Protocol, she says, is I have to just believe her and the confirmation will be coming by snail mail in 7-10 days. Will this headache ever end??? Seriously. Save yourselves!!! This has been a PSA.

All I can work from are the facts. On this day at Station Park "Don't Call Us a Mall" mall -- a shopping mecca teeming with women's clothing and discount clothing stores -- my wife only bought clothes at Maurices. I've spent many-an-hour in many-a-women's clothing stores, burning time on my cell phone as my wife files through many-a-rack of clothes. I can say Maurices one of the deeper, well-stocked stores I've seen. And this Station Park location is FILLED with customers on a lazy Sunday afternoon where other nearby clothing stores are ghost towns. What will those passionate about women's fashions find at Maurices? Tops of all types for both casual and fancy occasions, denim ranging from shorts to jeans to jean jackets, outdoor wear, sleepwear, "intimates", scarves, bags, socks, makeup, sunglasses, necklaces, rings, bracelets, perfumes and... Well, let's just say everything a fashionista--from skinny to plus-sized--could possibly want. My wife spent an hour in there. Really, the "belle of the ball" is the "Going, Going, Gone" clearance section in the back left corner. This isn't your usual picked-over, mish-mash, 3/4 empty clearance area. A lot of stuff, on REAL clearance prices. How do I know this? My wife left with two jackets and a top for $28 and saved $90. So yeah, ladies, you may want to make your way to Maurices at Station Park!
