Dirty Snow Hill....Yelp review forthcoming ;)
    Drew B.

Let's make one thing clear: Station Park is not a mall. As well, it's not like outdoor mall-like entities like Gateway or City Creek where you can park your car and amble from store to store. Farmington's Station Park is a TOD (transit-oriented development) ... I suppose that gives it an official excuse for a pain-in-the-you-know-what to get around. I still mark 'em down for the layout. I gave it a shot as a "store-walker" ... I was killing time between my wife's extremely long visits to different Station Park women's clothing establishments. To be fair, I didn't pick the best time: About 3 in the afternoon on a day that changed from your normal quiet, chilly winter afternoon to a gusty, snow-in-your-face mini-blizzard. The main area isn't too much of a walk distance-wise, maybe .2 to .4 of a mile from one side of the main area to the other. "Outskirt" shops on the outer tier of the mall (Cabela's, Vista Outdoor, U of U Health Center, Chick-fil-A, etc.) are a few tenths of a mile longer. Distance isn't really the issue for walkers: It's accessibility. I found myself crossing parking lots as well as pretty busy and relatively dangerous intersections. It's a park-and-drive-and-park-and-drive sort of mall. It's a really beautiful development, with Fountain Square being the epicenter of its beauty. Even on this cold, blustery day, the light show and shooting water was still going strong. The curvy roads of Promontory Drive are a visually stunning, urban planner's masterwork. The most pleasant of surprises was Eats & Treats, the food "pavilion" between West Promontory and Fountain Square. While it houses four fast food restaurants (Barbacoa, Madbrook Donuts, Smart Cookie, and the newly opened Farmington Franks), it's real gem is in the middle: couches, leather chairs, a fireplace, and other coziness that wouldn't be out of place as a fancy hotel's lobby. When it comes to businesses, its real selling point are its semi-casual, sit-down restaurants. Twigs, Santorini's Greek Grill, ParkStone Wood Kitchen, and the brand new Sicilia Mia are the gems of Station Park. With all the other restaurants around Station Park, I wouldn't be surprised if many people come just to eat at their favorite spot. There's also some high-quality "anchor" businesses like Cabela's, Harmon's Grocery, Chase Bank, World Market, Vista Outdoor, and a state-of-the-art Cinemark Theatre. There's a University of Utah Health Center and a Hyatt Place hotel, two things you don't often see at a shopping development. And, of course, it's STATION Park, meaning there's a FrontRunner train station right there ... making for quick transport up and down the Salt Lake Valley. As for the rest of Station Park is, IMHO, ho-hum. Station Park has a lot of the usual mall fare: Countless women's clothing stores and boutiques, junk-food snack shops, shoe stores, millennial and Gen Y casual fashion stores, as well as discount clothes, accessories, beauty, and health shops. In the end, though, I'd say everybody will find something to strike their fancy at Station Park.

This is a neat place to go. I go here at least once a year for the clothing stores, particularly Gordmans, and it's always nice. I love that there's a Frontrunner station right next to it; it makes coming here easy for me as I don't own a car. They have some of everything, including a movie theater, clothing stores, an Apple Store, Teavana (I love me some tea), and a few places to eat... emphasis on few. The fountains are very pretty as well, and it's fairly easy to navigate through by walking. It is also open on Sundays as well.

Lots of fun, and great shops! It makes for a great date night especially in the fall when the fire pits are going.

In the case of Tully's, it seems to blend in with the Van's and Nike store (because it actually also sells Van's and Nike's), and the Zumiez at Station Park -- as well as stores like PacSun, Urban Outfitters, etc. and other malls because of it is cool-boy and young-man, skate-centric clothes and brands. For similarish stores, having something that sets it apart -- such as strong discount prices or a unique core element -- helps vault it out of mediocrity. In the case of Tilly's, I really don't see that unique element. Let's focus on the positive ... Tilly's has A LOT of stuff. First of all, they have almost as many Van's t-shirts than at the Van's store and, oddly enough, some originals you won't even find at the big V. There are also plenty of options from brands like Levis, North Face, Quicksilver, Billabong, Volcom, DC, Fox, Roxy, Hurley, and Etnies. And if you like more casual-ware, you'll find a lot: t-shirts, hoodies, graphic tees and sweatshirts, shoes, penny boards and other skateboards, shorts and board shorts, backpacks, accessories (a lot of wallets, sunglasses, and watches) ... and that probably just scratches the surface. The prices are a bit high, but it's a pretty good selection of clothes worth checking out.

And honestly? Say less. So in we go. I'm half skeptical, half flattered, fully confused. The staff was so helpful, clearly used to people like me wandering in with no idea what a Wunder Train is. I grab a few pairs to try on and suddenly we're in this giant bougie dressing room with mirrors that see you from every angle of your soul. The super sweet associate asks my partner if he wants to come see how they look and he's like, Oh sure, but also starts laughing as he whispers to me "I feel like a sugar daddy right now." And I'm standing there in leggings that feel like they were sewn by angels, laughing and also nodding because yeah. Accurate. But also wow. These leggings? Life-changing. The one Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev banged on the lectern at the UN in 1960? The not one, but TWO shoes Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi threw a George W. Bush during a December 14, 2008 press conference? Anyhoo, while the Infamous Footwear store might be power-packed with history Famous Footwear has, obviously, all of the most famous (or, shall I say, popular) footwear brands. This location is at the Farmington mall known as Station Park. Let me use as sort of a litmus test my favorite brand, Vans. FF has the second most voluminous selection of Vans at Station Park ... the first is the actual Vans STORE there, so that's saying something. When you include stores like Zumiez, DXL, Tilly's, etc., also carrying Vans, it's pretty impressive ... and the prices are good. There's almost any brand any man, woman, or child would want. Nikes seem to be the most prevalent. Also a lot of Adidas, Converse, Roxy, Timberland, Birkenstock's, New Balance, Reebok, Crocs, Asics, Doc Martens, and Puma (just to name a few). If you have a kid or kids in tow, you may not escape without a new pair of light-up shoes. Famous Footwear is also teeming with countless types of shoes: athletic, hiking, and dress are the most prominent. And remember, they're NOT a SHOE store ... FOOTWEAR is part of their name. This means plenty of sandals, flip-flops, boots, slippers, and socks. Also, you will see them pushing brands that may be unfamiliar: Connie, Dr. Scholl's, Franco Sarto, Fergalicious, Naturalizer, and Sam Edelman. This is because FF's parent company owns these brands, and, in the case of Connie, is their own "private label". It's hard to review or compare chains as QC, inventory, and service are pretty-much going to be the same across the board. For chains like Famous Footwear--with excellent selection, prices, and customer service-- consistency is a great thing to have!

I asked her if she had any shoes that were pink running shoes for my little girl. She looked at me and said that they didn't have any such shoe in their store then looked away. She didn't even try to find any shoes like this. I gave her two pairs of shoes they did have in their store and ask her if she could just see if they had my daughters size to which she said no she couldn't and she could not call any other stores because "this famous footwear doesn't call other stores for customers". So it looks like I am not shopping at famous footwear anymore if this is how they treat their customers. I kept trying to be kind but I'm pretty sure this lady is out to destroy any relationship anyone has with her store.
