Indian food is my favorite and this place is the best in SL County! I have tried many different Indian restaurants in town and none of them are nearly as good as Everest Curry Kitchen. I'll start by saying my expectations were pretty high, given the great things I've heard from others that have been here. My excitement quickly faded as the waiter came to our table every couple of minutes asking us if we were ready to order, and when we told him we needed more time, he seemed annoyed and would just walk away. The menu is huge and I was excited to try something outside of my normal chicken tiki masala; I don't know what 90% of the things are, so it's going to take a minute. PSA/FYI.. if people at the table are clearly still flipping through the pages, they are likely not ready to order. Weirdly, once we had our food and wanted our water refilled or were ready for the bill, he was no where to be found. Anyways on to the piece de resistance, the FOOD.. we had the garlic cheese naan (not sure why garlic cheese is a dollar more than the cheese naan.. must be some exotic garlic), lamb both masala, and Annapurna chicken. First, let me start by saying the flavor of the food was good. That said, the portions were tiny for the price and there was definitely something going on with the texture of the chicken.. every few pieces of chicken would have a weird texture like chicken that has been microwaved to reheat it.. This is a simple but yummy Indian restaurant just southeast of The Southtown Mall. The decor is really basic and there's overall nothing fancy about this place. But if you want good, decently priced Indian dishes, then look no further. My husband and I arrived early evening on a Friday to an empty restaurant but it filled up while we dined. We were greeted and seated promptly and service throughout the meal was courteous but not overbearing. We shared a sampler appetizer plate and everything was delicious. Then we tackled the chicken coconut korma which had a really great flavor. The rice was perfectly cooked and one order of naan was enough to share. All the food was great! Will I be back? Probably. Came for dinner on a weekday around 6 PM and the place was pretty empty. Standard Indian decorations in the restaurant, couple booths in the back. They weren't playing music which was odd because we could hear the few other conversations. We ordered paneer pakora to start and I got the mushroom mattar paneer for my main dish. The paneer pakora were too dry, definitely over fried. Would have tasted much better if they were still soft and served hot. The mattar paneer mushroom came recommended by the waiter and I really enjoyed it. I asked for it extra spicy though and I was dying. Would have enjoyed it a bit more if I got it normal spicy because the extra spice level masked the flavor some - but it was still delicious. Everest Curry kitchen has been one of our favorite restaurants in the past. Unfortunately we have not been able to visit for quite some time because some of our family do not like curries or other types of similar foods. However with just my wife and me we decided to revisit and see if it was as good as we recalled. We ordered a garlic and regular Naan, chicken Vindaloo, butter Chicken and aloo matter all on the medium spicy scale. To our delight all of the dishes were as good as we remembered. The spicy level seems about right medium had a decent level of heat to it but nothing over the top. Tried this place for the lunch buffett and was seriously impressed. I thought everything I tried tasted fresh and was flavorful. Loved the chicken tikka masala, the chicken was tender and the sauce was very good. I've had better chicken tikka masala at Bombay house but for a buffet I was super satisfied. The tandoori chicken and the chicken vindaloo were also great. The service was really good too, they cleared our plates and refilled our water very quickly. I was also very impressed in the fact that although we came in 30 min before the lunch buffet ended (ends at 2:30 M-Sat) they were still bringing out fresh orders for the buffet. I've been to other Indian buffets were they just stop bringing out food when it's close to being done despite new people coming in. I'll definitely be coming back for lunch. read more

I've driven by Everest Curry Kitchen several times, and each time I thought, I should try that place. I finally did! And I regret not trying it sooner! It's some of the best South Asian food I've ever had. Tucked away in a shopping center, the outside is very unassuming, and the inside is definitely cozy. But the food has big flavor, and the service is prompt and friendly. We ordered Lamb Coconut Korma, Spinach Saag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Garlic Naan. Of the main items, the Lamb Coconut Korma was definitely my favorite! The lamb was tender, not gamey, and was balanced perfectly with the slightly sweet Coconut Korma. If you're a fan of spicy, I will say that I think the spicy scale has been altered for Utah taste buds. So we ordered things Medium (and there was a hint of spicy), but next time I would definitely order a dish or two Hot. The surprising MVP's for me were the Iced Chai (Sweetened special tea made with spices and milk) and Kulfi (Homemade ice cream with pistachios, cashew nuts, cardamom seeds and cream). I love Chai, but I learned a long time ago that everyone has their own special blend, and that some Chai can veer almost to the savory side. However, this Chai was on the sweeter side, still spice forward, and it was the perfect accompaniment to a spicy curry. The Kulfi I had never had before, but it sounded intriguing, and it might be my new favorite thing. The texture of the ice cream was everything you love about HOMEMADE ice cream. And the flavors were similar to the Chai in the sense that it was sweet (but surprisingly less sweet than traditional American ice cream) but perfectly balanced with spices. UPDATE: The family ordered from ECK on Monday evening, and I got my usual Chicken Vindaloo (Medium hot) and some butter Naan. My first bite, I knew there was something wrong...WHOA...SALT OVERLOAD! Who in the kitchen spilled salt into the Wok bowl? Holy cow! I ate one scoop and that was it for me. So this time I decided to take it back, and I did. I met the manager there at the front desk and ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala (Medium hot) instead and some additional garlic Naan. Literally without saying more than a few words my new order was out of the kitchen (piping hot) and back to me at no cost, and I want to thank the staff there for taking care of me and my order. Got home, and the Chicken Tikka Masala was very good, and so was the Naan. So I'm actually downgrading ECK to 3 Stars not only due to the salty Vindaloo, but simply because the taste is always off for me...as there is something else influencing the traditional Indian flavors there as compared to other Indian restaurants in the area. This place was great! The service was very friendly. The menu offers a variety of options to choose from. The curry was seasoned nicely and well blended but I thought the portion was small. The garlic Naan was nice and buttery though! The Mango and Strawberry Lassi had a yogurt component that thicken the drink somewhat like a smoothie. I tried both the veggie and chicken samosas. If you are in the Calgary downtown area you have got to try this indian place. I love naan and they have great garlic naan and buttered naan. I tried the butter chicken curry and mango chicken curry. Both were amazing best I have tasted. You also get a serving of rice, as per usual. 1 order of curry is plenty for 1 person. Overall, can't go wrong with this restaurants and their curries. I went to Everest at the recommendation of, and with, a good friend. We took our kids for dinner since we have some little ones who enjoy the spice and flavor of Indian style cuisine. Good food but not extraordinary food. That said, I would go back. This is really a 3.5 star rating for me rounded up to 4. The minors got mango shakes and strawberry lassis for beverages and we started with an app combo. The shakes and lassis were good and moderately priced at $3 a piece. At least the kids liked them. I took some sips but wanted to save the calories for the solid menu items. Note that their lassis are served on the rocks and not very thick unlike lassis that we have ordered at several other area Indian restaurants. I honestly don't know which style is more authentic; just pointing out the difference. The shakes are the thicker beverage. Doesn't resemble a real milk shake though. Hard to explain. Try one and you'll see. But in the end, fruity goodness. Our appetizer combo was a little light in terms of quantity for the money but good overall. Came with ground chicken filled samosa, potato filled samosa, two vegetable pakoras (veggies deep fried in chickpea batter) and a couple of fried chicken sticks (not a nugget; not a full chicken tender; a small chicken stick). Came with the requisite mint and tamarind sauces as the condiments. Good stuff but not exceptional. For entrees, we ordered some of my favorites (no, I didn't go very adventurous here): saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, shrimp coconut korma, butter chicken, Annapurna pork, chicken momos, garlic naan and regular naan. You get free basmati rice. Saag paneer is one of my all time favorite Indopak dishes. Basically creamed spinach with big chunks of saag (thick firm tofu like cottage cheese; very mild cheese in case you were curious). Sauce was creamy (a little too thick for my taste but I'm not going to knock it for that) and flavorful. Medium spice is sufficiently spicy for most folks methinks. Chicken tikka masala was pretty good and average as compared to other Indian restaurants I've been to and liked so not a bad thing. It was what I expected. Tender chunks of white meat chicken in a creamy tomato based curry sauce. Butter chicken was deceptively not that flavorful. I think it is one of the milder Indian dishes. This one came out super red in color and I expected a robust spice to it but it was very mild and smooth. Kids loved this. I did too, but I also prefer more flavorful dishes so I would pass next time unless I'm looking for more variety. Shrimp coconut korma was good. You get about six to seven good sized prawns bathing in a mild coconut milk based curry sauce. Order this one with a little heat and it will surprise you how good it can be. The Annapurna pork is something I have not had before. You typically don't have pork options at the Indian restaurants I frequent. Don't know why but this one has it. It was good. But nothing to write home about. Another mild to medium spiced creamy dish that kind of blends in like the butter chicken. The chicken momos were basically mild yellow curry chicken filled potstickers. Good dish but not extraordinary either. Expensive for what you get. I've had some really good momos and these are average in my opinion. Naan is naan. Garlic naan is garlic naan. Pretty attentive service and they have a very expansive menu. I got tired of trying to figure out the numerous options available so just went vanilla with my ordering this time. Like I said earlier, I would come back. We found our go-to Indian restaurant! Ordered butter chicken (mild) - on point with herbs and spices, chicken tikka masala (medium) - very flavorful with a kick at the end, and the naan which was warm, crispy, and chewy. The meal definitely hit the spot. The restaurant is clean, staff was attentive, and we got the overall sense that the owners took pride in attention to detail on all fronts. Will definitely be back to this local establishment. We've tried most of the Indian restaurants in the SLC area and this is now our favorite. This is a cute little place hidden near 1-15 11400S east exit. How long has this place been here? The interior looks shiny and colorful. It was Friday dinner time and the place was only half full. Not that I'm complaining. The faster we get table, the less cranky I get. The servers were attentive and spoke with a very very soft voice, I had to pay attention as if I was about to listen to the most interesting gossip in town. They were very polite. Looking at the menu, this place pretty much have all the typical items we normally get in any Indian food restaurants. - The Garlic Naan was good. Not dry as in some places. - The Onion Naan had some mixed reviews at our table. I thought it was good, but others said there were too many onions till the naan almost tasted like pizza, and I was like, which pizza place did you guys have that? - I should make a mental note NOT to go there. - Chicken Tikka Masala was thick and delicious. Not the best I have tasted but above average. - Butter Chicken was good too, although I wasn't blown away texting my mom about it. It was delicious but not as buttery, and the gravy was almost too thick. - Shrimp Coconut Korma was pleasant. It was my first time trying Korma with seafood and I decided to stick with Lamb in the future. Note that they serve the curries in a round bowls which could look small at the first glance but the bowls are pretty deep actually. Still, not what I would call generous serving, and this makes the food here feel slightly expensive. For drinks, we thought the Mango Lassi was a tad too sugary. If it was me, I'd make it a little bit less sugar and a bit more yogurt. All in all, decent place for Indian food and a nice addition to Sandy/Draper dining scene. Everest Curry Kitchen is a new family owned restaurant which just opened a few weeks ago. They specialize in Nepalese and Indian food. I was very excited to see what kind of new flavors they could bring in an area with quite a few Indian restaurants. There were very many choices on the menu, so I let the server pick two entrees of his choice. 1) Meat Samosa (4.5/5) - two crispy samosas with ground lamb and chicken served with a side of tamarind sauce and special mint sauce which enhanced the flavor of the meat. 2) Annapurna Chicken (4/5) - chicken breast in coconut curry with broccoli and bamboo 3) Everest Lamb (4/5) - lamb with potatoes in curry with a little infusion of yogurt Meat Samosa were a delicious start to the meal, and ample rice was given with the two curry dishes. Admittedly, the portions were a little smaller than I had hoped, but service was excellent and the curry had a complexity of flavors which made me want to save every drop to mix in with leftover rice. Both the lamb and chicken were very tender. Also, I ordered both dishes with medium spice and it wasn't spicy at all in my opinion. Tiny little unassuming Cafe in a strip mall. Who would have guessed that the food would be so delicious that you dream about it for days later. Two dishes, a samosa appetizer and a 22-ounce beer to share came to about $38 and we rolled out of there completely stuffed and satisfied. Those tiny dishes are deceptive! What a great little find in Sandy ... and I had to look hard. For future reference, this little gem is located in the strip mall on the southeast corner of 10600 south and State Street. My husband and I enjoyed papadams as the appetizer [note that an order is ONE papadam] and asparagus aloo and navaratna korma. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and worth repeating! We found this place from Groupon, thank goodness! We were doing a staycation in SLC and we're craving Indian food. We were curious about the Nepalese infusion the restaurant offers. When we pulled up we were a little concerned because it is nothing to look at and not a place we probably would have tried just seeing it from the outside. But, there is a reason people say don't judge a book by its cover. The place inside is sparsely decorated and clean, and we saw two huge take out orders leaving before we were seated, and that was almost immediately. A very good sign! The staff is shy but very attentive and kind. I ordered Chicken Coconut Korma and my husband got the Shrimp Coconut Korma , and we got a side order of Garlic Naan. I can honestly say that the Garlic Naan and the Chicken Coconut Korma are the best I have ever had! And I love Indian food. It was almost perfect. I wish the rice had basil in it but besides that, who cares. My husband said his Shrimp Coconut Korma was in the top 5. We are so glad we found this place. Search for something hot and new on Yelp and this place showed up with a $11 for $22 deal, so I think why not give it a try. I know this place is new, but the service was really too slow. Waited almost half an hour before my server came and took my order, and waited even longer for the food to come. Made me feel like I'm dining at a french restaurant. I've ordered a regular Naan, a Butter Naan, Lamb Jalfrezi, and Chicken Tikka Masala. The Naan were huge, bigger than my face, but they both tasted the same to me. The Butter Naan had no butter flavor, only very oily on the surface. I would recommend you to just order the regular Naan if you want to try them both like I did, they were pretty much the same. I like the Chicken Tikka though, they have put lots of meat in it unlike other indian restaurants which usually only just put a few pieces inside each dish. The flavor of the Lamb Jalfrezi is a bit too strong to me I would say, but my friend like the lamb better than the chicken. read more

We have tried many dishes(20+) on the menu and they have all been good. A few months later, we got pickup from them and our order was ready before the pick up time (sweet!). Their curry is okay, nothing too flavorful but it was good. I took my children here. We ordered Butter chicken, coconut Jorma and Everest curry. We got them all mild because of the children. The kids didn't like Everest. I did though. They really liked the coconut korma, as it was almost sweet. I found the flavors very rich. We really liked this place and are glad to have it in the neighborhood. 2 Nan and the 3 curries fed 2 adults and 3 children so be careful to not over order. I'm still dreaming of my meal there! They offer 3 levels of spice - mild, medium, and hot. My kids ordered mild butter chicken and chicken tikka masala and they were delicious and not spicy at all. First of all they were both amazing but second....medium spice was so spicy I'm a little afraid of what a hot order gets you!
