What a shame to see that old Eva's has closed, though I can't say that I'm surprised. The number of times that other restaurants got my business, because Eva's either didn't open until 9am or because of the owners' resolute insistence on an absurdly short weekday breakfast service, was significant. I imagine that story could be repeated by many other would-be customers. I leave my final review with three stars due to this protracted silliness, and I would urge future restauranteurs to avoid such folly. I ate at Eva's on Main for the first time yesterday! I am so surprised that I haven't tried this place yet! It was delicious! I highly recommend! We walked in. We saw a couple of open tables. We asked if we could sit by the window at the bar. They said they had other people waiting on tables so we'd have to wait. They said it would take about 15 minutes. We walked across the street to the square. There was Halloween themed decorations everywhere. Lots of things to take pictures of and to take pictures with. After 15 minutes had passed, we walked back across the street to Eva's. They were just about to call my name to seat us. So we waited about another minute or two then they sat us. I ordered the Sweet & Savory. It came with baguette style French toast as well as a fried boneless chicken breast. It was so good. I had never had chicken and French toast together. The French toast was really cool. A lot softer than expected from a baguette. The chicken was nice and juicy. Yum. I definitely would recommend this place. It's right there in downtown Summerville next to lots of shops. The wait was pretty short and the food was excellent, as well as the service. I will definitely be back. read more

Let's keep it real... this is your average, mom n pops, greasy spoon diner. It is great. No frills, no wow factor, reliable Southern style food with a limited but satisfying menu selection. It was purely by chance I ended up here, and was looking for breakfast. I was there a few minutes after 11am on a weekday, and was informed if just missed breakfast. And I overheard the next diner's disappointment at the fact that they'd not be serving Mac n cheese (not sure why). I had the fried chicken and bacon sandwich with pepper jack. Generous and real slices of crispy bacon on an also generous sized piece of fried chicken. The bun was fresh and greasy. Basic 1 slice of iceburg lettuce and 1 single ring of white onion. I could've used more of both. Ketchup and mayo bottles were on the side, and no mustard was offered or brought. Fries were awesome and a good portion size. Pop was cool even without ice (how I asked/prefer). I ended up only eating half of the whole meal since it was filling. Temperature was okay but could've been hotter. Service is always good at Eva's as we have been coming here for a few years now. Had lunch here today and ordered their fried chicken which is supposed to be amazing. Well mine came out raw in the middle and the exterior lacked any seasoning/spices. It was really disappointing. It's also sad that this place has been here in town for so long and was always so reliable for good southern cuisine, but has really changed. Located on Main Street this is a great spot to enjoy after the farmers market. Blueberry pancakes taste like bisquik and there were so few blueberries I could count them on both hands. Eggs look like they are using small eggs to serve since they were not big at all. Bacon tasted hard and cold like they had cooked it all off in the morning. The plate must have been cold since it came straight out of the kitchen it was already cold and could not melt the butter I put on it. Saw some family members post on social media about brunch at this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try on a self care day. One, I couldn't believe it was right in In downtown Summerville and I've never heard of it! (I really have to get out more!) two the atmosphere is definitely homey. The food was amazing! I got the omelette, and a blueberry pancake and the biscuit was my favorite! Lol I could've just had 2 biscuits and been satisfied! Lol the service was great! First couple or three bites are good and delicious but after that it becomes monotonous because it is only one flavor, the gravy mixed with the potatoes and eggs and everything else it is one together thing. I wish they had bigger plates and instead of piling things up they could distribute them so you the "eater" would decide how much of what to put on your mouth like a buffet kind of thing. Back to reality, nice place and friendly attitude but not what I am looking for, but that is just me because the lines are crazy, people wait a long time for a table! It may be a while before we go back unless they revamp the menu or I order something else. Throughly enjoyed our meal at Eva's. We had never been but were excited to try a summerville landmark. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming (even with the social distancing requirements). The staff was friendly and seemed to really enjoy themselves. We enjoyed all of the memorabilia on the walls; it's fun to see treasures from the past. Every year at Christmas Eve, my entire extended family (we are a smaller family) go to a breakfast spot to eat in Summerville, SC. We change it up every year depending on who pays and this year we came to Eva's and we were all blown away. It's a smaller shop with great service, fresh tasting southern food with quick service. I split the Goodness Gracious and the Pardon My French specials with my cousin. The Pardon My French were French Toast baguettes that were delicate and slightly sweet alongside a homemade blueberry sauce that paired together delightfully. The Goodness Gracious was the mother of all mix bowls with eggs, potatoes, peppers, onions, homemade gravy, scallions, and bacon. It was hearty and the flavors all blended surprisingly well together. Alongside the sweetness of my French Toast, this was such a fantastic combination. The atmosphere is very homie, with plates and art pieces around that remind me of my grandmothers house. It's also a smaller place but even with a group of 22, they still accommodated very well. The service was also fantastic. 22 people in my party and all of our food came out at the same time in a matter of 20 minutes. WOW! Easily the quickest meal we've ever had with a group this large. Great little spots like these stand the test of time for a reason. We met some friends while in town for brunch here on a Friday. Being that it was on the main part of town they appear to get very busy. Our group was already sitting when we came so we were able to bypass the wait and sit down to order. First off their drip coffee is absolute quality. I was very surprised and kept ordering refills as it didn't taste like the typical Folgers stuff. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs since it's one of my favorite breakfast dishes. Since I was in the country I figured I'd better see if they could do it any better than I've had back home (which isn't saying much). I happen to be a connoisseur of country fried steak and this was the absolute best I think I've ever had. Not only was it covered in their chunky sausage gravy, it was an ACTUAL FRIED STEAK!! I've never in my life got a steak, but just your typical fried, beaten on meat. It was amazing, tender and fried to perfection. I had to try their blueberry pancake and it was absolutely delicious as well. Everyone was extremely happy with their meals and the prompt service. Hayley our server was an absolute sweetheart and never left us needing something as she kept a close eye on us. I definitely will come back here when I see myself in town again. Is dining room opens at 9:00 a.m. and you'd better be ready because by 905 it's full now I did find that tables really started coming available around 10:00 a.m. These folks have been around since 1944 might give you an idea that they know what they're doing. Love visiting home Town business' while traveling. Had some locals suggest this business for breakfast as the decor is homie/quaint. Upon arrival was greeted and seated promptly. All staff rotate and perform all tasks and help each other out. Our waitress got to us soon after seated and served us coffee. Despite them being short staffed this morning, all of the ladies were pleasant and on top of it all. Been here many times. Food quality has gone down drastically. Order corn beef hash and it was like it came right out of a can to the plate, not even grilled. Omelet had very little veggies and cheese. Also check your ticket when paying. We did a substitute which is $5.45 I think but in the ticket it said $6.95. We have no plans on going back. read more

It was a gloomy, rainy Tuesday morning when we arrived at Eva's in downtown Summerville. We needed a hot, delicious breakfast to raise our spirits. Eva's certainly delivered. I had the blueberry pancakes, stuffed with more berries than I've ever seen in a pancake. Light, tasty and filling. Our daughter ordered the "Pardon My French" which is a baguette prepared as french toast, real maple syrup and a side of fruit. My husband picked the "Heavens to Betsy," a scrumptious plate of everything from eggs to biscuits and gravy, potatoes and sausage, which put a big smile on his face. I understand on the weekends the wait can be considerable, so I suggest coming to Eva's during the week. Delicious food, friendly atmosphere and great service. After narrowing some options on my filters on the Yelp app, Eva's On Main popped up as an option so I looked at a few reviews and was not disappointed!! BF and I were seated immediately! This was already a win for Sunday brunch time!! Our server was Sarah and she was just delightful!! She let us know what was popular (Goodness Gracious, which is what BF ordered) and pointed out specials on the blackboard on a back wall. The restaurant had a cozy feel to it with old photos and plates on the walls from different states. It was hard to decide what to order at first because there was so much to choose from! I do have a tendency to choose pancakes or waffles and I read that the pancakes here were REALLY good ... so I tried the Blueberry Pancakes. They were fluffy and delicious! They smelled like a fresh baked cake! SOOO GOOD! I did try a bite of BF's Goodness Gracious and it was really tasty! There were a lot of flavors happening all at once, but they complimented each other well. We ordered water for our beverage and they were served in mason jars with a straw. Our jars were never empty. Someone always seemed to know when our glass was half full and refilled it quickly. Also, everyone working there was always smiling and was so pleasant! I did get a chance to stop by their bathroom. It's in a small corner and it's for men and women. There's only one stall, but there wasn't ever a line for the bathroom that I noticed. I think I'll definitely come back to Eva's.
