    Sweet & Savory

I ate at Eva's on Main for the first time yesterday! I am so surprised that I haven't tried this place yet! It was delicious! I highly recommend! We walked in. We saw a couple of open tables. We asked if we could sit by the window at the bar. They said they had other people waiting on tables so we'd have to wait. They said it would take about 15 minutes. We walked across the street to the square. There was Halloween themed decorations everywhere. Lots of things to take pictures of and to take pictures with. After 15 minutes had passed, we walked back across the street to Eva's. They were just about to call my name to seat us. So we waited about another minute or two then they sat us. I ordered the Sweet & Savory. It came with baguette style French toast as well as a fried boneless chicken breast. It was so good. I had never had chicken and French toast together. The French toast was really cool. A lot softer than expected from a baguette. The chicken was nice and juicy. Yum. I definitely would recommend this place. It's right there in downtown Summerville next to lots of shops. The wait was pretty short and the food was excellent, as well as the service. I will definitely be back.

The food was good. The service was good. The ambiance was normal. I've been wanting to try this place I'm glad I got to park in front of the door, walk in and was immediately seated in the best seat in the place with the window view.

Let's keep it real... this is your average, mom n pops, greasy spoon diner. It is great. No frills, no wow factor, reliable Southern style food with a limited but satisfying menu selection. It was purely by chance I ended up here, and was looking for breakfast. I was there a few minutes after 11am on a weekday, and was informed if just missed breakfast. And I overheard the next diner's disappointment at the fact that they'd not be serving Mac n cheese (not sure why). I had the fried chicken and bacon sandwich with pepper jack. Generous and real slices of crispy bacon on an also generous sized piece of fried chicken. The bun was fresh and greasy. Basic 1 slice of iceburg lettuce and 1 single ring of white onion. I could've used more of both. Ketchup and mayo bottles were on the side, and no mustard was offered or brought. Fries were awesome and a good portion size. Pop was cool even without ice (how I asked/prefer). I ended up only eating half of the whole meal since it was filling. Temperature was okay but could've been hotter. The place was clean overall. He/She bathroom, also clean but if in use, you'll have to wait. Parking is available on the very busy main road. Wheelchair accessible. I'd go back for sure but wouldn't go out of my way. Staff were super nice to everyone who walked in.

    Where are all the blueberries?

Nice cooling cafe in the middle of Main Street . The waitress was very nice and told me ahead of time things that they ran out of today. I ordered the pancakes either eggs and bacon and added blueberries and coffee. Coffee is ok but it was not that hot like it been sitting in a hot pot or something. Blueberry pancakes taste like bisquik and there were so few blueberries I could count them on both hands. Eggs look like they are using small eggs to serve since they were not big at all. Bacon tasted hard and cold like they had cooked it all off in the morning. The plate must have been cold since it came straight out of the kitchen it was already cold and could not melt the butter I put on it. Also they use such small plates to make the food look bigger than it really is to the customer. Why does this restaurant have a shower in the bathroom ?????

From the moment we walked in we felt like we were part of the family. We loved the vintage atmosphere. Our party of 7 was quickly seated and the hot coffee we requested arrived right away. We were there on a Sunday mid-morning and the place was hopping! I can see why they've been around so long as the food was spectacular! Biscuit were huge and smothered in sausage gravy. My mom kept saying she couldn't take another bite but couldn't resist them!!! I had the omelette and ordered potatoes. The only disappointment was absolutely no substitutions. I'm gluten free and had to pay extra for the potato and gave my biscuit to another person at the table. My omelette was hot and plentiful. The French toast was a favorite at my table too. Will be back!

Baguette style French toast with compote

We stopped here for breakfast and the hostess and waitress were so friendly and helpful. I had the baguette style french toast with compote - absolutely delicious. My husband tried the Goodness Gracious and we understand the name because goodness was it a lot of food! I highly recommend Eva's if you are in Summerville.

Saw some family members post on social media about brunch at this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try on a self care day. One, I couldn't believe it was right in In downtown Summerville and I've never heard of it! (I really have to get out more!) two the atmosphere is definitely homey. The food was amazing! I got the omelette, and a blueberry pancake and the biscuit was my favorite! Lol I could've just had 2 biscuits and been satisfied! Lol the service was great! They checked on me constantly and there was no wait. I would go back and try something else and definitely get my biscuit!

    My mono salad! Delicious!

Throughly enjoyed our meal at Eva's. We had never been but were excited to try a summerville landmark. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming (even with the social distancing requirements). The staff was friendly and seemed to really enjoy themselves. We enjoyed all of the memorabilia on the walls; it's fun to see treasures from the past. Our food was delicious; simple and southern as my children called it. We had great service and a wonderful meal, what more could you ask for. Make sure you grab a passport for the Sweet Tea Trail, eva's in on the trail and would love to stamp your book.

My husband and I came here on our first morning in SC right after we moved here from out of state. I ordered the "vicious benny" which was eggs benedict with ham and hollandaise sauce. Everything about my benny tasted like it was meant for Queen Elizabeth (RIP) or someone of high caliber to be eating. It was so freaking good, that it didn't seem worthy of my peasant palate! In addition to the huge, fluffy, amazing biscuit, they did not forget to make the ham & hollandaise just as fantastic; ham had lots of unexpected flavor and I wanted to drink a bucket of the hollandaise sauce as I'm 100% sure it's the BEST one I've ever had. I'm definitely coming back as soon as possible and would recommend that anyone/everyone do the same! :)

So after plugging in "gluten-free breakfast in Summerville" here on Yelp, Vicious Biscuit was one of the choices. Located in Nexton which has quickly become one of my favorite areas to find good food in Summerville. Upon entering. I was greeted and given the opportunity to glance over the menu without being rushed. I let her know of my gluten allergy and she was quick to provide me with options. They have so many gluten-free options to choose from. It was my intent to dine-in but I needed to leave. I ordered a gluten-free biscuit with sides of grits, chicken sausage and a scrambled egg to-go. I was offered a cup of water as I waited. The restaurant had several customers dining in. The seating area is very spacious and I loved all of the natural lighting coming in. There's a bar with so many types of butters, jams and etc to choose from. One of the workers came over to help me and answered all my questions. That sweet potato butter was divine!!! I needed to use the restroom before my next stop (I hate public restrooms by the way!) it was super clean. When I did have the opportunity to eat, I wished that I'd ordered more biscuits!! It was so good!!! I can't wait to go back and actually sit-in to dine!

If you're looking for the gold standard of brunch in Summerville, look no further than First Watch…read moreon North Main Street. This isn't just your typical "eggs and toast" diner; it's a full-on culinary experience that manages to feel both incredibly healthy and deeply indulgent at the exact same time. From the second you walk through the door, you're hit with the "Sun-Up" vibe--it's bright, airy, and smells like fresh-squeezed citrus and high-end coffee. We were greeted by a host who gave us a realistic wait time, but here is a pro tip: use their app to join the waitlist before you even leave your house. We did that and were whisked to a booth within five minutes of arriving. The Appetizer You Can't Skip We started with the Million Dollar Bacon, and let me tell you, the name is an understatement. It's four slices of hardwood smoked bacon baked with a brown sugar and black pepper crust, finished with a maple syrup drizzle. The way the cayenne pepper provides a tiny kick at the end to balance the sweetness is genius. It is thick, crispy, and honestly, I would come back just for a plate of that. The Main Event For the mains, our table tried a variety of dishes to see if the kitchen could handle the rush: Lemon Ricotta Pancakes: These are probably the fluffiest pancakes I've ever had. The ricotta adds a creamy richness without making them heavy, and the marinated berries on top were burst-in-your-mouth fresh. They didn't even need extra syrup. The Tri-Athlete Omelet: For those trying to stay on track with fitness goals, this is the move. It's an egg white omelet loaded with house-roasted onions, tomatoes, and cremini mushrooms. It felt light but was surprisingly filling. Farmhouse Hash: This is the ultimate comfort bowl. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly (not too salty), and the two over-easy eggs on top created a rich sauce that tied the whole thing together. The Juice Bar & Coffee You cannot visit First Watch without hitting the juice bar. We tried the Purple Haze--it's visually stunning with the butterfly pea flower, and the lemon/cane sugar combo is incredibly refreshing. Also, their Project Sunrise Coffee is some of the best "restaurant coffee" I've ever tasted. Knowing it supports female farmers in Colombia makes that second (and third) refill taste even better. Service & Atmosphere Despite the place being packed, the service was seamless. Our server, Justin, was a machine--he anticipated our refills before we even asked and knew the menu inside and out, even suggesting a side of the "Greens dressed with lemon" which was a perfect palate cleanser. The atmosphere is energetic but not so loud that you can't have a conversation. Whether you're a local or just passing through the 29483 area, this First Watch location is firing on all cylinders. It's clean, the ingredients are top-tier, and the menu is creative enough to keep you coming back week after week.

Nope, about 4oz of berries and coffee with honey, creamer, turmeric, cinnamon and cayenne for me. Please note my listed concoction is extremely beneficial to the body, containing anti-inflammatory and antioxidants. Ok back to the point, I had the opportunity to meet a friend from church for lunch and I figured since I've never been to a First Watch in my life, to give it a try. The ride over at 11:15 on a Tuesday morning was easy, light on traffic with ample parking in a very safe section of town. I beat my comrade, for my Russian friends, to the restaurant as he was lagging a bit so the courteous wait staff promptly seated me. To be honest the franchise appears to have a forced hommy look to it. As if they're trying to be something you'd find on a winding country road where only the locals know about. To be honest, the ambiance is the lowest on my checklist, so depending on your perspective, that's a good thing. My hostess/waitress was asking me about my beverage before I was seated! I like this commitment to service. She even got me honey for my sweetener as I requested. Slow... slow golf clap from the audience. As I confessed before, I'm not a big breakfast person but I try to eat reasonable 90% of the time to stay "fit as a fiddle" (I'm curious where that analogy came from). While I could have enjoyed a great number of items, I opted for 1 Belgian waffle and 2 over easy eggs to go with my coffee. My skinny friend (grumble) got the Tri Fecta b/c.... well he's skinny! But as I recall it was about the same as my dish but with bacon. First off, my eggs were perfectly over easy - cooked 65% on one side the rest on the other with a very runny yolk, tasty! Now for the waffle, can we say "false advertising on 3?" Belgian waffles are thicker, have a "yiester" batter and pearl sugar. Plus, the "syrup traps" (all rights to Mitch Hedberg) are deeper while it has a crispier exterior and fluffier interior. In other words what I got was a deflated, defeated and structurally defunct piece of want to be abstract art, only something that a painter like Mark Rothko could appreciate (look him up). It was tasty but when I love waffles and have refrained for literal years I had my hopes set way to high. Anyways it was an average experience with only one syrup option! Oh I apologize for the pic, I was hungry and forgot to snap one before I destroyed it with my pitchfork. Overall, I don't want to nitpick too much but give constructive advice. So, the great -bacon, eggs, coffee, customer service, noise level and comfort. The average or slightly below average - the waffle (mislabeled) and ambiance via drab decor. If I were to come back, which isn't a reflection on the restaurant but my eating habits, I would opt for the eggs benedict as I make them all the time at home since homemade hollandaise sauce is easy and elevates any dish.

Our waiter was very attentive to our large party and food was brought out rather quickly. My biggest complaint was that food. I love eggs Benedict and a crab cake, so I had to make the obvious choice to get the crab cake eggs Benedict. The grits were very smooth and buttery with no lumps! The fried green tomato was fried to perfection but it didn't have much seasoning. It was beneath the crab cake, so maybe that's why it wasn't seasoned well. Also, the toast was really good. Idk what kind of toast you he had on the side but it went well with the jelly! My biggest gripe was the start of the show--the crabcake. It did not taste like a real crab cake AT ALL It tasted like a crab cake from a box with a lot of breading which was disappointing. Also, the breading on the crumb cake made it so crunchy to where I thought I was eating a chicken tender. Also, the sauce on top tasted weird and didn't complement any of the flavors on the plate. Overall, the experience was not bad. The menu is vast so I may be inclined to return to try other options. I just would not try the crabcake again.

When we got down to the last one, we both realized the "odd looking fritter" in the bowl that we were both avoiding, was the jam (oops!). It was a similar color and shape to the fritters but we both just laughed about avoiding it. For my entree, I was sold on the "award-winning" shrimp & grits that were featured on the Today show (as per their menu). Surprising that this meal made it that far as it didn't taste like anything special to me. It was not bad but very basic/plain; so basic that it felt like something was missing.
