    Sweet & Savory
    Savannah H.

I ate at Eva's on Main for the first time yesterday! I am so surprised that I haven't tried this place yet! It was delicious! I highly recommend! We walked in. We saw a couple of open tables. We asked if we could sit by the window at the bar. They said they had other people waiting on tables so we'd have to wait. They said it would take about 15 minutes. We walked across the street to the square. There was Halloween themed decorations everywhere. Lots of things to take pictures of and to take pictures with. After 15 minutes had passed, we walked back across the street to Eva's. They were just about to call my name to seat us. So we waited about another minute or two then they sat us. I ordered the Sweet & Savory. It came with baguette style French toast as well as a fried boneless chicken breast. It was so good. I had never had chicken and French toast together. The French toast was really cool. A lot softer than expected from a baguette. The chicken was nice and juicy. Yum. I definitely would recommend this place. It's right there in downtown Summerville next to lots of shops. The wait was pretty short and the food was excellent, as well as the service. I will definitely be back.

Let's keep it real... this is your average, mom n pops, greasy spoon diner. It is great. No frills, no wow factor, reliable Southern style food with a limited but satisfying menu selection. It was purely by chance I ended up here, and was looking for breakfast. I was there a few minutes after 11am on a weekday, and was informed if just missed breakfast. And I overheard the next diner's disappointment at the fact that they'd not be serving Mac n cheese (not sure why). I had the fried chicken and bacon sandwich with pepper jack. Generous and real slices of crispy bacon on an also generous sized piece of fried chicken. The bun was fresh and greasy. Basic 1 slice of iceburg lettuce and 1 single ring of white onion. I could've used more of both. Ketchup and mayo bottles were on the side, and no mustard was offered or brought. Fries were awesome and a good portion size. Pop was cool even without ice (how I asked/prefer). I ended up only eating half of the whole meal since it was filling. Temperature was okay but could've been hotter. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was clean overall. He/She bathroom, also clean but if in use, you'll have to wait.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is available on the very busy main road. Wheelchair accessible. I'd go back for sure but wouldn't go out of my way. Staff were super nice to everyone who walked in.

The food was good. The service was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was normal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've been wanting to try this place I'm glad I got to park in front of the door, walk in and was immediately seated in the best seat in the place with the window view.

    Where are all the blueberries?

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice cooling cafe in the middle of Main Street[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . The waitress was very nice and told me ahead of time things that they ran out of today. I ordered the pancakes either eggs and bacon and added blueberries and coffee. Coffee is ok but it was not that hot like it been sitting in a hot pot or something. Blueberry pancakes taste like bisquik and there were so few blueberries I could count them on both hands. Eggs look like they are using small eggs to serve since they were not big at all. Bacon tasted hard and cold like they had cooked it all off in the morning. The plate must have been cold since it came straight out of the kitchen it was already cold and could not melt the butter I put on it. Also they use such small plates to make the food look bigger than it really is to the customer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Why does this restaurant have a shower in the bathroom ????[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]?

[[HIGHLIGHT]]From the moment we walked in we felt like we were part of the family[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We loved the vintage atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our party of 7 was quickly seated and the hot coffee we requested arrived right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were there on a Sunday mid-morning and the place was hopping![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I can see why they've been around so long as the food was spectacular! Biscuit were huge and smothered in sausage gravy. My mom kept saying she couldn't take another bite but couldn't resist them!!! I had the omelette and ordered potatoes. The only disappointment was absolutely no substitutions. I'm gluten free and had to pay extra for the potato and gave my biscuit to another person at the table. My omelette was hot and plentiful. The French toast was a favorite at my table too. Will be back!

Saw some family members post on social media about brunch at this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try on a self care day. One, I couldn't believe it was right in In downtown Summerville and I've never heard of it! (I really have to get out more!) two the atmosphere is definitely homey. The food was amazing! I got the omelette, and a blueberry pancake and the biscuit was my favorite! Lol I could've just had 2 biscuits and been satisfied! Lol the service was great! They checked on me constantly and there was no wait. I would go back and try something else and definitely get my biscuit!

Baguette style French toast with compote

We stopped here for breakfast and the hostess and waitress were so friendly and helpful. I had the baguette style french toast with compote - absolutely delicious. My husband tried the Goodness Gracious and we understand the name because goodness was it a lot of food! I highly recommend Eva's if you are in Summerville.

Throughly enjoyed our meal at Eva's. We had never been but were excited to try a summerville landmark. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming (even with the social distancing requirements). The staff was friendly and seemed to really enjoy themselves. We enjoyed all of the memorabilia on the walls; it's fun to see treasures from the past. Our food was delicious; simple and southern as my children called it. We had great service and a wonderful meal, what more could you ask for. Make sure you grab a passport for the Sweet Tea Trail, eva's in on the trail and would love to stamp your book.

The food arrived quickly, was beautifully plated, and delicious. The continuously refilled coffee was deliciously addictive and worthy on its own of multiple return visits. The facility was clean and well stocked. The quality of food is not worth the crowding or wait time that so many are subjected. As a single person party, I chose to find a seat at the bar. It was not overly large and was monitored by 2 servers. I was fairly quickly addressed to get my drink and I ordered a starter without prompting due to the number of patrons. Another sat beside me but she was overlooked for quite a bit of time, finally having to ask for a menu. Once my starter arrived, the okra basket, I was ignored. The okra was ok but nothing special, standard premade restaurant supply brand of thickish breading that was intermittently soft or crunchy. I was 1/4 way through the basket before I had a chance to request cutlery and seeing that the servers had started to focus only on the person next to me that they had initially overlooked, I also requested my entree. I had reviewed the menu prior to arrival and decided on my order in advanced. Unfortunately it was not available on the brunch menu and lunch was not an available option. I should have asked for the check at that time but selected an omelette instead. While waiting and consuming my starter, I requested a menu draft to be told it was unavailable too. The suggested alternative was decent. My entree arrived about 20 minutes later. It was dry, both the eggs and protein. I was able to request and receive a sauce in a short period of time. My refill did not need to be requested but it was incorrect so I did have to ask for another. I know the staff is most likely good, the popularity produced by the Travel Channel keeps them too busy and complacency is prevalent. I had hoped that the publicity did not change the uniqueness of the menu but I will trust my intuition in the future and continue to avoid these types of restaurants.

Because if I need it and it's not there I'll come find you. :) The filling was the best filling I've ever had. The baked portion, too. And I grew up enjoying the bakeries of NYC and the area. What made it so good? It was not a disgustingly sweet, gelatinous blob. It had what I could only call a "natural" style filling. Not gelatinous. Not super sweet. One bite and you'll know that this is the way it's really supposed to be. It will ruin your enjoyment of all other blueberry danishes. Like I said, don't order one. :) Bon appétit.

When we got down to the last one, we both realized the "odd looking fritter" in the bowl that we were both avoiding, was the jam (oops!). It was a similar color and shape to the fritters but we both just laughed about avoiding it. For my entree, I was sold on the "award-winning" shrimp & grits that were featured on the Today show (as per their menu).
