You can always count on "Auntie" Eva to serve up some of Jamaica's finest authentic cuisines. Jerk chicken, brown stew chicken, curry chicken... she doesn't miss! I always have to order chicken patty and coco bread for the ride home. If you're ever in the area and have a taste for some real west Caribbean food then you must stop in and give it a try!

The best Jamaican food in town! When I lived on the west coast, I looked forward to dining at a local Jamaican restaurant with my friends. Lately, I've been craving a good meal, and I'm so glad I found Eva's. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner with plantains and yellow rice, as well as green beans, and jerk Mac and cheese. The portions are generous, cooked fresh, and served hot. The food is very flavorful - spot on! The jerk chicken has an excellent flavorful kick to it. And the jerk Mac is amazing- bits of jerk chicken mixed in with melt in your mouth Mac and cheese! The jerk Mac also has the great jerk flavor so it's got some spicey goodness! Highly recommend both the jerk chicken dinner and the jerk mac if your looking for flavor! The sweet plantains were perfectly cooked- soft and sweet. Delicious- I could probably eat a tray full of them! The yellow rice and green beans were also great, cooked well and a great portion sizes. The food is packaged very well if you order online or to go, and they verify the food before you take it home to be sure it's what you want. Miss Eva is very kind and always willing to help the customers. Great Customer service for me! Overall, I've had an amazing experience and so happy to be supporting a new-to-me local restaurant! Eva's is very affordable, and the quality, portions, and taste of the food is excellent. I am definitely looking forward to coming back for more, would love to try the oxtail next, and the beef or chicken patties!

Good day, I wanna share a recent experience I had a Eva's Jamaican Kitchen. I'm not interesting in bashing them so I waited a week before writing this review. Understand that I am a champion for Caribbean cuisines. And every state that I visit and stay I always have an eye open for a local Caribbean style restaurant. So here's my own personal experience. I was in the area for a medical exam that required me not to eat from the night before and my appointment was at 10 AM. So by the time it was completed it was lunchtime and I was more than ready to eat anything at this point. Lol, using Yelp I found this Caribbean restaurant that I had never eaten from before in Jax's. So why not give it a go. They were only seven minutes or so from the medical facility. Eva's kitchen is located in a small shopping center so there was plenty of parking. Upon entering their clean facility I place my order with ease. I probably waited about approximately 10 minutes and the food looked delicious ( they show you your order before they pack it away and hand it to you ). The service was quite professional. I had a beef patty with a Coco bread which was really fresh and a bottled drink soon as I got into my car lol and I save the food for dinner which we had proximately three hours later. I warmed it in the microwave for two minutes and let it sit for about three and then my wife and I sat down to enjoy. In the midst of our conversation about how our day went my wife turned to me and said this chicken taste old and that the rice and the food in general was lacking seasoning. I was definitely surprised because she was eating jerk chicken. I had the ox tails. And I must admit that it didn't have that flavorful taste ( punch / zing ) that I'm used to having when eating this particular Caribbean dish. Now I had to order their jerk mac & cheese as a side dish. I was confident that it would win her over. There is a lot of four star reviews for this Caribbean style mac & cheese dish. So when we both started eating it we quickly had a fork filled with chicken gristle from the joints. It was definitely ruining our dining experience. We questioned why wouldn't they filter out the gristle and bone splints from the chicken when they added it to the mac & cheese ? The jerk mac & cheese had good flavor but we had to eat the Jerk mac & cheese with caution because who wants to bite down on a chicken joint/gristle. I am disappointed in the experience. But I must note that they have more positive reviews than negative. And I am willing to give them another try but at a later date.

Years ago I lived around the corner from a great Jamaican restaurant in Massachusetts and nearly every Friday night we picked up meals of jerk chicken, stew chicken, curry chicken, oxtails, rice and peas, plantains, and patties. It had been a while since I'd had Jamaican food and despite passing Eva's nearly every day, I hadn't stopped by until just recently. On a Saturday in the late morning I went to get a few meals for lunch. There were only a few other customers there who were picking up orders that they'd called in or placed online. Everything sounded good. We got two medium curry chicken meals with yellow rice and plantains and a small brown stew chicken with rice and peas and plantains. I also got a beef patty. Eva was doing double duty, working the register and cooking the food. She appeared to have a good relationship with her regular customers who began trickling in. The wait was short and when she brought my food out, she opened the boxes to ensure that my order was correct. The food was good. The plantains were nice and sweet and soft, the patty had a great flaky crust and the beef inside was well seasoned. The containers were generously filled with rice and meat. The prices were good and had I realized that the difference between a small and a medium was just $1, I would've gotten three medium meals, which is definitely the better value. It would've been helpful to have had the prices posted on the displayed containers on the walls or on a visible menu. I'm glad that I finally walked inside Eva's and ordered food. I look forward to going back and trying more of what they offer, particularly the oxtails.

Delicious, hot and quick! Had the chicken curry, rice and peas, Kingston cabbage, and plantains. Huge portion! Can't wait to come back and try the cornbread.

As a born islander, Eva's is the authentic thing. Spacious dining area. Tuck away in a shopping plaza and plenty space to park. Can't miss the giant Jamaican flag. Highly suggest!

So good! If you want authentic Jamaican food with all the flavor this is your place! We tried the brown stews chicken with rice and peas and sweet plantains! The large is so big and you will for sure have left overs! The food came out pretty quickly. We also had the combo: jerk chicken and curry goat. Both were delicious, however if you are looking for more meat the goat may not be your top choice. The cabbage is shredded and full of flavor. I knew I had to try the jerk Mac n cheese and it was delicious. It's spicy and cheesy. I had 2 bites and was satisfied! We also ordered a chicken spicy patty! It was standard nothing special. Overall can't wait to go back and try it again!

This place is toooo good!! Period. There are always people coming in & out to order, so if you're looking to dine in, there shouldn't be a wait to sit. The place is small, local vibes, - very mom & pops. Pretty quick & efficient too. And hot & fresh!! Nothing like a steaming plate of curry with your choice of meat! My go to is the chicken curry with yellow rice, & cabbage as the side. There are 3 sizes to choose from, & even small is plenty! Great pricing too. Oxtails are delicious, flavorful & tender. All the meat choices are fall off the bone. I've even had fried fish before & that was great too. The jerk mac & cheese is good, but spicy!! Be warned. I would definitely get it again. The meat patty empanada looking thing was good too lol. Fried chicken was ok- stick to the typical Jamaican dishes! Staff is so friendly! So helpful! They make sure you're happy with your order. I used to eat here for lunch almost everyday when I worked nearby. I used to go to them at their old location but so happy I found out they just moved & not closed! Def will come back again & again!

Ackee & Saltfish w/ cabbage & yellow rice

Today was actually my second time getting food from Eva's. My first visit last year, I ordered oxtails with rice and peas and cabbage. Micro review: it was very good and I've been meaning to go back ever since. This time, though, I ordered through GrubHub and opted to try the ackee and saltfish with yellow rice instead of rice and peas. My other side was cabbage again. I also ordered a side of the jerk mac and cheese to try. I've been wanting to try ackee for years now but I've always backed out and ordered my go-to favorite of oxtails instead. I'm so glad I switched it up this time, because Eva's did NOT disappoint! I was surprised at how soft the texture of ackee is; I can't think of anything else I've eaten similar to it. On its own, I suspect it's not strong on flavor, which is why it's paired nicely with saltfish. In fact, it was so good, I wish I'd ordered the medium instead of a small. The jerk mac was outstanding! It may be my new favorite take on mac and cheese. It was smoky cheesiness with a kick of heat and bits of jerk chicken; just the right level, not too spicy as to overwhelm the overall flavor yet not so mild that it plays it safe. The ackee and saltfish was very good but the jerk mac was truly a surprising highlight! Also, FYI the cabbage and yellow rice weren't an afterthought. They're good sides too, complementing the rest of my meal quite nicely. So thanks to Eva's, after a visit and a delivery, I'm happy and full off of great Jamaican food. I promise I won't wait as long between now and my next meal.

This is another hidden gem. I must have already driven by this joint 1000 times going down Beach Blvd without noticing it. They have goat curry and oxtail, definitely two of my favorite insanely delicious proteins that don't always exist when I want them. But now I have a 'go to' place in Jacksonville! Both items are super soft and tasty and the best I've had in recent memory. They didn't ask me how spicy I wanted the curry to be, but it came out with a decent kick to it by default. The jerk mac and cheese is excellent. It's as homemade as they come and has just enough meat in it to send the umami over the edge. The green beans and cabbage are good as well. I even like the white rice; it's a soft and absorbent brand, but not too mushy. Plus, I consume a ton of white rice when it's available, and distressingly often, American restaurants don't give me enough. But Eva's knows how much rice a curry or oxtail dish requires; they'll load you up. Oh yeah, the fridge has some interesting drinks too. A couple of them are too sugary for me, but others are fantastic, and I haven't seen them anywhere else in town yet. Fiiivvveeee staaarrrsss

Whoa, I didn't realize we had an authentic Jamaican restaurant practically in our back yard! Delicious flavors, large portions, economical prices. The oxtail, for me, is a must get Jamaican dish served perfectly with rice & peas, and cabbage. -this one is full of rich flavor and delicious The chicken curry was super tender, juicy and delicious. It falls off the bone! It pairs really well with the yellow rice The jerk chicken Mac and cheese is only $3.50. It is full of spicy flavor and you can't stop eating it! A must try ! I love all the veggies they mix in their cabbage! So glad we finally found this place!
