I would give 5 star but I'm only giving 3 for each order that was improper. One order had hair in it, 2nd order I asked for double mac but received Mac n cabbage, 3rd I requested no veggies but veggies were all over my plate. I got the beef patty, the crust was flaky and the beef inside, was like a minced beef. It was good. The rice and pea's was good, and the Oxtails, was falling off the bone! I've never cooked Oxtails, other people have for me. But this will be my go-to place for Oxtails. After doing some errands around the area, my friend and I were hungry. We looked online for options, and seemed like Caribbean Paradise was the closest spot in town. Going in, the restaurant wasn't super packed, and we decided to split the Jumbo Jerk chicken with cabbage and a upcharge of the mac n cheese ($3 extra) for total of $21.50 before tip. Moving onto my review, the food was okay. On the plus side; the chicken had great sweet to hot to salty islandy flavor, and was very tender! In addition, the meal itself was very filling, and certainly a good value for your buck. However, on the minus side, the rice & peas weren't fresh, and tasted bland. The cabbage as well didn't taste fresh too. Moreover, the mac n cheese was very dissapointing as it was a dry stack of noodles, in contrast to the cheesy crust on top. Oh.My.Goodness. I almost reluctantly post this review because I'm not sure if I want everyone to know how good the food is here. Hubby and I have previously tried the jerk chicken here (delish) but decided to branch out for an early dinner to-go. I called in a small order of stewed fish with cabbage and cornbread (comes with peas and rice) and hubby ordered the jumbo curry goat. Also ordered 2 slices of black cake. The lady was very friendly and asked if I minded waiting 20 minutes since the fish was prepared to order. Not a problem! We arrived about 25 minutes later and waited another 10 minutes for our food. We added festival to our order and ate those while waiting (first time trying fried cassava dough, think hush puppy meets cornbread but way lighter). The guy who took her order was very friendly and showed us our food before carefully packaging and walking out. The place is very small but clean and had great Jamaican music playing. Ok so about this fish - I had a entire fish (I believe snapper) that was deep fried, flaky and covered in this wonderful sauce and herbs that's reminiscent of tamarind but I can't quite place it. The rice and peas were a perfect accompaniment to the cabbage and plantains (didn't even miss the cornbread). I tried to be delicate but after a few minutes found myself tearing the fish apart by hand and licking fingers. I looked at hubby and he was doing the same. Thirty minutes later we tapped out and were fully satisfied with our meal. We sampled the cake (dark, fruity and very potent) but put aside for later. They have the most awful cornbread I've ever had the misfortune of tasting. Charged me 17.00 for a plate with portions that should have at best cost 10.00... they charge almost 3.00 extra to make macaroni a side so you believe it must be fire, well, it is extra basic.
